Stunning all-original 1971 Buick Electra Limited 4 Door Hardtop with only 30,000 original Miles!  This is an amazing, rare find "top-of-the-line" Buick that runs and drives like a new car and that had only ONE OWNER untill I purchased the car for my private collection several years ago, where it has been kept in a climate-controlled, dark private storage building ever since, driven only for shows, etc.

OPTIONS/EQUIPMENT:

- All "Limited" trim exterior and interior upgrades (The "top-of-the-line" trim level/model for Buick Electras in 1971).

- All-original 455 CID V-8 engine with only 30,000 miles since new (runs and drives superb).

- Air conditioning (still works!)

- Power windows

- Cruise control

- Power front bench seat

- AM Radio (works fine)

- Electric rear defroster

- Power trunk release

- Cornering lamps

- Original front and rear factory floor mats

- Full-length body side moldings

- White wall radial tires

EXTERIOR:

- ALL Original "Willowgreen Metallic" laquer paint from the factory that still shines and gleams like new with no cracking.  (There are a number of places where the original, elderly owner touched up the paint with the correct, factory touch-up paint that are visible up close, but I have not addressed  any of that because I wanted to keep the car all original)

- No dents or body damage or rust - EVER . (Some minor dings visible only up close and minor corrosion on the very bottom of the car where there were rock chips over the years)

- Chrome is like new with no corrosion, hazing or pitting.

- Rare "steel top" model (vinyl top delete from factory).

- All glass like new condition.

INTERIOR:

- All Original broccade cloth interior in striking "bone" color - NO RIPS or CRACKS ANYWHERE!  (Even the original door panels are uncracked, which is very rare for these cars!)

- Dash and gauges/instruments are like new - no discoloration/pitting or fading, and everything is in working order.

- Headliner and carpets also in pristine condition.

MECHANICAL:

- This care runs and drives like new and is whisper quiet.

- To my knowlege, there have neen no prior mechanical repairs, except for routine oil/filter/fluid changes etc.

This is a one-of-a-kind collector car in all original condition with super low miles and in a striking color combination.  Doubtful there are any other comparable 71 Electras still left out there.  This is, however, a 40-plus year old car in original, unrestored condition that is actually driven so it is not a "perfect" 100 point museum piece, nor is it being held out as such.  Please ask any and all questions BEFORE bidding.  The car is available for inspection at my storage building in Northern Kentucky near the Cincinnati, Ohio International Airport so please make arrangements for any inspections BEFORE bidding.  I am not a dealer but a private collector so there are no warranties, express or implied, and the car is being sold as-is, where-is.  Please check on all necessary shipping/transportation costs BEFORE bidding, as all such costs will be the responsibility of the buyer (although I will gladly work with your shipper to make the car and title available after full payment is received).  Thank you.

NFL QB Cam Newton and supermodel Miranda Kerr star in Buick's Super Bowl ad

Wed, Feb 1 2017

Buick's Super Bowl LI ad is another demonstration that its cars aren't frumpy anymore. The ad opens with parents watching their children play football, with one of the dads, we'll call him "Dad No. 1," shouting encouraging words to his son. In the background, a bright red Buick Cascada pulls up, and another dad, "Dad No. 2," points it out. Dad 1 doesn't believe him, and says, "If that's a Buick, then my kid's Cam Newton." All of sudden, his son transmogrifies into Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. As expected, he quickly dominates the game, with some amusing results. At the end, when a Buick Encore shows up, the referee inadvertently turns himself into supermodel Miranda Kerr, based on apparent disbelief over what constitutes a Buick. You can see all of the shenanigans in the video above. Plus, if you'd like to see what goes into making a Super Bowl commercial, Buick produced a short video with Newton and Kerr showing what happens behind the scenes. You can check it out below. 2018 Buick LaCrosse gets a mild hybrid model, lower price

Mon, Jun 5 2017

Update: Buick provided us with horsepower and fuel economy figures. The text has been updated to reflect this. Buick is rolling out a variety of updates for the 2018 LaCrosse, including a new mild eAssist hybrid. Like the previous generation LaCrosse and Regal eAssist models, this one features a small electric motor and an equally small battery pack that together augment rather than supplant the gasoline engine. The motor, attached to a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, helps to make takeoffs smoother and provide additional torque on demand. The gasoline engine still does the majority of the work, though. Combined, the powertrain produces 194 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque. It will also allow the LaCrosse to get 25 mpg in the city, and 35 mpg on the highway. While the electric powertrain doesn't provide primary propulsion, it does come with other benefits. The small battery means the LaCrosse maintains a folding rear seat. The battery also provides power to accessories when the engine shuts off at a standstill. This mild hybrid powertrain will be the standard engine for all 2018 LaCrosses, and they come with a lower base price. The 2018 model will start at $31,415, which is about $1,500 less than the lowest priced 2017 V6 LaCrosse. The V6 will still be available as an option, and Buick has updated it, too. The 2018 V6 models will also all come with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The new LaCrosses will go on sale this fall. Related Video: Image Credit: Buick Green Buick Hybrid Luxury Sedan

Junkyard Gem: 1993 Buick Roadmaster Sedan

Mon, Oct 31 2022

In 1931, GM's Buick Division introduced an eight-cylinder engine in its stolid rear-wheel-drive sedan models, and Americans could buy big, comfortable Buick four-doors with straight-eights and — starting in the 1954 model year — V8s driving the rear wheels for more than a half-century after that. Then, the last rear-wheel-drive LeSabre left the assembly line in 1985, and it seemed that an era had ended forever. But wait! For the 1992 model year, Buick revived the Roadmaster name and applied it to an old-timey giant sedan with a V8 engine sending power to the proper wheels. Production of the Roadmaster sedan continued through 1996, and I've found one of those throwback Buicks in a Denver self-service car graveyard. Yes, in an America full of front-wheel-drive cars contaminated by European or — even worse — Japanese influences, The General brought back the spirit of the 1931 Buick sedan. Sure, it was really a near-identical twin to the "whale-body" Chevy Caprice, complete with Chevrolet small-block V8 engine, but that didn't matter. This was the kind of Buick that our prosperous great-grandparents bought in 1932 and 1948 and 1957. And the appeal of the great big eight-cylinder Buick sedan wasn't just limited to the United States. When the film adaptation of the great Marguerite Duras novel, L'Amant, was made, only a 1932 Buick 90 sedan would have made sense for the wheels of the wealthy Saigon heir. A big reason Buick is such an important brand in China right now is the legacy left by the memorable Buick machinery that owned the roads of 1930s China. These days, most of the 1992-1996 Roadmasters you'll see will be the station wagons, but we mustn't forget the sedans. Looking at the interior of this car is like a flashback to the 1960s, when stately Buick sedans had squishy seats you'd just disappear into when you climbed in. Cool-sounding names for ordinary features had gone out of style decades earlier, but not for the Roadmaster! Dynaride was a rear suspension that used air shocks and a compressor to keep the ride height level regardless of load. The last model year for a genuine Buick V8 engine was 1980, though you could make the case that the Rover V8 (made until 2006) was really a Buick all along. The engine in this car is pure Chevrolet: a 5.7-liter small-block V8 rated at 180 horsepower. Buick was a big Olympics sponsor at this time, while Oldsmobile handled golf. Still, the Buick-buying demographic of 1993 tended to approve of golf.
