This is one of those rare finds that you always hear about someone else getting..
It's getting harder and harder to find one of these in this condition. They are usually rusted out, worn out, or beat to death.
===========================================================
This was a California car it's entire life until a few months ago. Zero rust.
Owned by a friends grandfather who left it to him, but this car is just not his style.
Well cared for and has been maintained by professionals always. Full documentation.
This car is like stepping back into the 80's when they were new. It even has that 80's car smell. All the way around it has been well taken care of.
- The paint is excellent - 1 tiny door ding on passenger side - see in pics
- New fiberglass bumper fillers just painted to match and installed
- Glass is all perfect - no chips/no cracks in windshield
- Chrome is all good and still shines
- Tires are like new
- All lights work correctly
- Doors/trunk/hood close perfect
- Landau top is perfect
- Exhaust looks new
- Shocks look new
Interior-
- Excellent condition throughout - 1 tiny wear spot just above power seat control - see in pics
- Carpet is good with no wear
- Door panels, dash, etc are all excellent
- All interior lighting works correctly
- Gauges/dash lighting work correctly
- The AM/FM Radio seems to act a little odd - just the digital display portion
- Non Smoker car
- Split bench w/ armrest
- 6 way power seat - a little noisy but works
- Power windows - driver side hesitates sometimes
- Very comfortable
Mechanicals-
- 3.8 V6 - Pump the gas and hit the key. Starts right up. Needs a couple quick light revs to smooth out
- Automatic trans shifts perfect
- Brakes work perfect - no pull or surging
- Shocks feel tight and new
- Runs at correct temp
- No funny noises or rattles / or smoke
- All hoses/belts/filters appear new
- Quiet exhaust
- I did see a drop of oil when I moved it but the undercarriage is clean. Maybe a gasket starting to go from sitting?
- Power steering quiet and smooth
- Radiator looks clean w/no leaks
- Just converted to R134a AC and blows cold- New pressure switch, clutch relay, fan relay, hi/lo hose assembly, and orifice tube.
I would rate this car a 9.5 out of 10 overall.
It looks like it has been well maintained but has also sat quite a bit. That would also be why it only has 67k miles. It most likely needs to be fine tuned since it was set up to pass California emissions standards. Smells like it's running lean. It comes with a folder full of documentation of everything ever done to the car. I didn't look through all of it but I did see a receipt for a new headliner at some point. And a new top. It is a lot of slips from the emissions tests too. It comes with the original window sticker, the build sheet, owners manual, and even the business card of the salesman that sold it. The spare tire and jack are in place. And it comes with a set of tire chains (in Cali?) that look like they were from the 80's as well. The paint was redone after a parking lot incident. It's a beautiful low mileage car that looks like it belongs on a movie set for an 80's film. It would make a perfect car for someone that loves this body style. These were the comfortable cruiser of their day, still look sporty, handle well, and kept the Buick reliability alive and well.
This is all I can think of.
As mentioned this is a friends car that was from his grandfather who took very good care of it.
I don't believe you will find another one that is in this condition.
I've looked over the car, did a safety check, and a short test drive to insure there wouldn't be any surprises.
It's a great car.

2017 Buick LaCrosse an evolution of sharp Avenir concept
Wed, Nov 18 2015After years as a bloated, uninspiring, but comfortable near-premium sedan, Buick has taken the wraps off a leaner, lither, far more stylish LaCrosse. The third-generation model has just made its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. While there's a lot to talk about, let's first address the new, Avenir-inspired sheetmetal. The fascia is basically the concept car smoothed over into production form, featuring the same winged trishield. In place of the chrome-trimmed waterfall, the LaCrosse gets a blacked-out, recessed grille with a chrome surround. It looks good in photos but it's better in person, adding a real sense of complexity and depth to the front end. The headlights and lower fascia, meanwhile, adhere closely to the concept. The same cannot be said of the LaCrosse's tail. While the taillight lighting pattern is similar, the overall shape of the lighting element is radically different, refining the design featured on the back of the Regal. Also gone, sadly, is the Avenir's boattail rear deck. Instead, the LaCrosse gets a small rear deck that curves up into a pleasant duckbill spoiler. The rest of the tail is pleasantly restrained. Perhaps the weakest point is the profile, where Buick has instituted a "split-spear" design, featuring a strong shoulder line above the rear wheel well, which sits below an even stronger character line that curves down and towards the front of the car. It strikes us as just a little too much, like the Impala. Underneath that sheetmetal, Buick has managed to trim nearly 300 pounds of body fat, nearly half of which came from the vehicle's actual structure. That 300 lbs, according to Buick's engineers, is equivalent to a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator, in case you needed a helpful comparison. Despite the weight savings, Buick has upped the torsional rigidity for this new model by 15 percent. The LaCrosse's cabin features a strong, cockpit-like design, with a high, floating-bridge center console. This is possible due to Buick's adaption of the Electronic Precision Shift system, introduced earlier this month on the new Cadillac XT5. Despite the new-fangled console design, Buick's retained the wraparound cabin style introduced on the second-gen model. Based on a quick crawl around the interior, space is great in front, although ingress in back is somewhat difficult due to the roofline. You're probably wondering why we haven't said anything about the mechanicals just yet.
Opel Cascada close to getting green light for US
Fri, 13 Sep 2013For a company with a long tradition of grand touring convertibles, it's almost unseemly that General Motors doesn't offer a properly relaxed four-seat convertible in North America. There's the Chevrolet Camaro, of course, but it's not big on rear-seat space and it doesn't offer that sort of serene demeanor that many open-air buyers crave. We're thinking of something more refined and, dare we say, elegant. Something a bit closer to the Opel Cascada.
The General's front-wheel drive convertible went on sale in Europe this year, and while it seemed like a natural fit for its Buick brand in America, it's never been sold here. That may be about to change, however. Back in June, CEO Dan Akerson hinted he'd like to see the Cascada available in the US, and now there's word from Edmunds that importation "could happen soon." That's according to an unnamed insider at the company.
It's almost unseemly that GM doesn't offer a relaxed four-seat convertible.
GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
