1940 Buick Model 46 Sport Coupe Project - Hot Rod / Custom / Original on 2040-cars
Mentor, Ohio, United States
|
This is a solid 1940 Buick Special model 46 Coupe that can be restored to original, customized, or turned into a street rod. The car has the original straight 8 engine in running condition. The car is mostly complete missing notably the running boards, radio and seats. There is one piece of quarter stainless trim missing and one piece of hood side stainless trim as well. I have acquired many of the parts that were missing, or upgraded to better quality. The car had repairs done to the doors, but it also needs some sheet metal repair in the back of the trunk and at the lower edge of the trunk lid. There are picture that show these areas. The steering wheel is incorrect, but I did buy a correct Buick horn ring.. The bumpers, gas tank, bumper brackets, glove box door are there. Have several pieces of the glass, but some may be missing. Car has Illinois title. Have included a picture of a finished car of this model in black. This is NOT THIS CAR, but one possibility for the future. Transport is the responsibility of the buyer. I will help load. |

Hyundai tops VW and Buick in China, survey says
Wed, Apr 15 2015You may be aware of the long-time competition in China between Volkswagen and Buick, but another brand apparently should be in that conversation too: Hyundai. In a recently published annual consumer survey, the Korean company actually took the top spot to beat out its German and American rivals in second and third, respectively. The results were part of the China Brand Power Index that interviewed 11,500 people around the nation and was paid for by the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. While Hyundai proved popular with voters, its sales haven't necessarily shown that yet. According to Bloomberg, the brand had falling numbers in China for the first quarter of the year. Even Ford outsold the South Korean automaker in the same period, despite scoring lower on the survey. Meanwhile, Audi ranked as the populace's favorite luxury brand, which is hardly a surprise given the Four Rings' strong sales in China. In January alone the automaker saw a 15-percent boost in volume there. Parent company VW's strong performance was somewhat more surprising, though. State media severely criticized the German automaker in March, and customers protested last year for the allegedly poor handling of a recall.
Sell-it-yourself: 1998 Buick Century Limited
Wed, May 10 2017Looking to sell your car? We make it safe, easy, and free. Quickly create listings with up to six photos and reach millions of buyers. Log in and create your free listings. Well before Buick was tight with the Chinese, it was working to reconnect with middle class America. Of course, there's the middle class, and then there's the aspirational middle class. For them, near the end of the 20th Century, Buick offered the Buick Century and its better-zip-code derivative, the Century Limited. Having attended the Buick press launch about this time, the Century was – and is – what we'd call tidy in proportion and clean in its detailing. Its interior design and execution might have leaned toward old school, but the exterior surfaces were responsibly devoid of affectation. In short, almost twenty years ago we would have judged this to be sheetmetal that, if not defying age, would have certainly resisted aging. And we'll stand by that today. Our for sale example, nineteen years old and showing just over 111,000 miles, looks to deliver ample bang for the buck, especially when talking only 2,500 of those bucks. From the photos, this Buick seems to have come from a good home, even if the passenger rear door reflects what we used to call a whiskey ding, and is now - probably - a mojito ding. While kicking tires in West Palm Beach, note the custom wheels; they, too, are limited. Shop for the listing here. Buick Car Buying Used Car Buying Ownership Sedan
GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs
Thu, Aug 20 2015General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender.
