FOR SALE IS A 2006 BMW 550I. The car runs strong and powerful and is very comfortable. Iv never had any problems with it other then an oil leak that I had fixed. They put in new head cover gaskets and vacuum pump to fix the leak. For some reason the PDC decided to go out, it always bothered me so I never had it fixed. The car does have aftermarket parts but dont that that through you off, I spent a lot of time and money to make sure everything was RIGHT. Nothing was done to the drive train, it drives like a normal 550i. Purely good looks. From the last 20k miles are mostly highway miles because of work, but I think 60k is not bad at all for a 06. I all ways hand washed this car, never been to a car wash. Options on the car are: Sports pack, leather, privacy shades, premium sound Logic 7, navigation and more im sure but I dont have the window sticker in front of me, witch does come with the car and all books, shop papers and one key. Im selling only because im ready for something new. Im not excited about wanting to sell this car because I have babied it and cared for it for awhile. Just time for a change. Ward's Automotive Ten Best Engines of 2014 dominated by diesels, turbos
Thu, 12 Dec 2013With the Car and Driver Ten Best decided, the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists announced and Cadillac, Ram and Subaru chalking up wins with Motor Trend, it's fair to say that the automotive awards season is in full swing. The next set of trophies to be handed out will be from Ward's Automotive, which has announced the winners of its 2014 10 Best Engines.
The latest contest was marked by the widespread emergence of diesel power and the continued success of turbocharged engines. There was even an electric motor on this year's list. In fact, only three of the ten winners were naturally aspirated and only two winners returned from last year.
"We weren't looking to throw the bums out, as they might say about an election. We were just really impressed with the flood of new powertrains," said Ward's Automotive Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter. Those new powertrains include the 83-kilowatt electric motor from the Fiat 500e, the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Ford Fiesta and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel from the Chevrolet Cruze.

BMW ready to bring more i3, i8 plug-ins to US
Thu, Oct 9 2014BMW has found a receptive audience for its first batches of plug-in vehicles in the good 'ole USA. The German automaker, which started selling its first mass-produced i plug-ins in Europe late last year, will send a higher percentage of those vehicles to the US because of strong demand here, according to Automotive News, which talked with BMW executive Ian Robertson. And the Americans might cause Bimmer to speed up production, to boot. BMW makes the i3 electric vehicle and i8 plug-in hybrid in Germany, and has sold about 10,000 units of the former and 280 of the latter worldwide. Since August, BMW has been selling about 1,000 i3s a month in the US (it sold just 58 i8s in September). The bigger story, though, may be that Bimmer has sold out of its US allocation of i8s through the end of next year. Pretty heady stuff for a car that starts at around $137,000. Currently, BMW builds around 100 i-series vehicles a day in Germany, and may speed up production of the i8 for the aforementioned reason. As for the i3, which comes with an option of a gas-powered range extender, we'd reported earlier this year that the waitlist for that model had grown to about six months.
