1997 Bmw 528i/5 on 2040-cars
Glen Gardner, New Jersey, United States
Up for sale is my 1997 BMW 528i 5-Speed. I bought the car about 3 months ago thinking i would keep it for a while, but i just recently got the chance to buy Another newer car so this one has to go. I have driven this car all over for these 3 months and it has never let me down. Even though the motor has over 200k on it, it always starts without an issue, doesn't smoke, and pulls very hard and strong. The trans is very smooth. The clutch is in very good shape and doesn't slip. The exterior of the car is pretty good besides the one major dent in the lower part of the trunk. It also has two decently seized ones on the passenger fender. Everything in the interior works except for the cup holders which didn't work before i got them and is a very common e39 problem. The only lights on are the traction control, abs and airbag lights. They are intermittent, but i think its just a bad abs sensor. The car on the road is very smooth and comfortable, its strait and has no play in the steering. It does have a very slight vibration at 65-70mph. Other than that the a/c compressor makes noise but it blows cold. I have a spare compressor i was going to put on later on down the road which i can include in sale. Overall this is a great car and it has ton of life left in it, its fun to drive and is a great highway car and road trip car. Car is sold as is where is and is located in Glen Gardner NJ 08826. Car is also being sold locally and I have the right to end the auction at any time to sell it.

BMW, Sixt carsharing making money most places
Wed, Aug 20 2014The DriveNow carsharing service, which is a partnership between BMW and Sixt, is growing quite rapidly. "We've been surprised about the explosion of new subscriptions, which has helped boost revenue," says Sixt CEO Erich Sixt. The number of DriveNow users has increased from 215,000 at the end of last year to 300,000 today. Sixt says that DriveNow has been profitable in cities in which it has been established for over a year. Perhaps encouraged by its unexpected success, DriveNow is set to expand even further. The service is currently available in five German cities, as well as in San Francisco, California, and the involved parties are considering a five-year plan to expand to 25 more cities in Europe and the US. Still, Sixt expects DriveNow to report a "small-to-medium, single-digit" loss for this year, according to Sixt CFO Julian zu Putlitz. It's no big deal, just the result of startup costs in new areas. Sixt, which is Germany's largest car rental company, also reported that its own second-quarter income rose 12 percent to $37.7 million, while sales rose 7.6 percent to $585.78 million. DriveNow uses a membership and pay-per-minute model that allows customers to rent BMW and Mini vehicles as they need them. The service also acts as a way to let potential customers try out the vehicles and familiarize themselves with the brands before they buy cars of their own at some point. Depending on the location, DriveNow's fleet includes the BMW 1 Series, ActiveE and X1, as well as several Mini vehicles like the Cooper, Clubman and Countryman. Each episode comes with a hit of engine sound – start-up and with a few revs – to round out the package. Set your resolution to max, kick it into full-screen, turn up the sound, and enjoy today's subject, the 2015 BMW X6 M.
BMW working on DCT for its FWD cars?
Thu, Oct 29 2015Having introduced its first front-wheel drive products, a report in BMW Blog says that BMW is developing a dual-clutch transmission to use in some of those vehicles. If that is the case then BMW would be catching up to its competitors, with Mercedes-Benz using its 7G-DCT in models like the CLA, and Audi putting its six-speed S-tronic in the A3 and seven-speed S tronic in the A6. Acura and Hyundai use dual-clutch gearboxes in their model lineup as well. Right now the only self-shifting option in the front-wheel-drive-based BMW X1 is an Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic, the one we described as "perfectly fine but not a standout" that requires "some prodding to coax a downshift." The eight-speed sport transmission will be an option in late 2016, but its paddle shifters and quicker gearchanges still won't be equal to a DCT. That latter possibility would give BMW a sportier avenue of development if it did wish to create something truly athletic out of the X1 – BMW Blog muses on an X1 M40i or an X1 M (you should be past the point of shock if this happens). The Mini range could also benefit, the JCW trims currently fitted with a six-speed sport automatic being obvious candidates. Assuming Munich engineers are on the case, it is predicted that we won't see this transmission for at least two years.
