For sale is a 2005 Volkswagen Passat GLS TDI. It runs and drives 100%, is very clean and fuel efficient and is being sold with no reserve. The 2.0L four cylinder turbo charged diesel engine purrs along without a miss, fluid loss or smoke. The timing belt was changed at 116080 miles (see sticker). The automatic transmission shifts smoothly without hesitation or slipping. The brakes, steering and suspension are without issue. No exhaust leaks. No "check engine" or warning lights. The exterior is a glossy silver with no dents or dings. You might find a scratch if you look hard enough. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 25% tread (see pic). The windshield is crack and chip free. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. No body rust. The interior is black carpet and Volkswagen leatherette seats. The front seats are heated. Both the carpet and seats are in good condition and are free from wear areas, stains or rips. All the power options such as windows, side mirrors, cruise control, sunroof, etc. are working as designed. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. There is a factory sound system with CD. No issues. This is a very nice 2005 Passat TDI. There are absolutely no mechanical problems and no indication of any impending problems. VW promises 7-seat CUV for America in 2016
Mon, 13 Jan 2014On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018.
That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car
Thu, 11 Sep 2014Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.
VW confirms new TDI for second half of 2014 in Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle

Volkswagen is bringing the latest iteration of its 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine - dubbed the EA288 - to the 2015 model year Golf, Jetta, Passat, Beetle (2013 model pictured above) and Beetle Convertible, and the cars will be on sale in the second half of 2014.
While it shares its moniker with the old diesel, the new engine produces 150 horsepower, a 10-hp boost, and 236 pound-feet of torque. VW promises improved fuel economy as well, but it hasn't announced specifically what amount yet. The company claims that despite the same displacement, only the bore spacing is shared with the previous version. The mill includes new features like exhaust gas recirculation, an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold and low-friction camshaft bearings.
VW Group of America has had great success with diesels in the US recently. Vee-Dub and Audi sold 105,899 diesel-equipped models in 2013. It was the first time the group ever sold over 100,000 diesels in a year, and they accounted for 24 percent of sales. Scroll down to read the full press release about the announcement.
