Current Mileage is 20,000... I am listing my 2013 GLI Autobahn Edition, rather than waiting to trade it in. What is the reason I would sell it, rather than wait? The seats. My previous 5 series BMW seats were great for me because they were almost flat. The GLI seats have a very low seat height which I love. However… They also have very high bolsters, which are great when you get into a nice corner but not when you commute 70 miles a day. The suspension is also more sporty than I like at this point in my life. My friends seem to love the seats, so it is a matter of preference. I have some extras with the car, and all of it is included in the price. I already know what I can get for trade in, but the car I want is not out yet. I have not paid it off because my interest rate is almost nothing. I am asking for less than what I owe on it, and I will pay off any balance that is due upon sale. It's your choice if you prefer to pay VW financial directly, or if you would rather pay me. I will give you a legal Bill of Sale and also a Statement of Fact both of which are legal DMV forms, and will transfer ownership to you as soon as the loan is paid and the title is cleared. The title is held electronically and will be released by VW 1-2 weeks at the most, after loan payoff. I could have the seats re-upholstered and have the bolsters removed and the leather redone, but I originally only bought the car while I was waitingget a new wagon and I don’t want to get into customizing it too much. So, here is all the info regarding the car. It is a 2013 GLI with Autobahn package and manual 6 speed transmission. I have both the cloth matts (in the car) and the rubber heavy duty GLI matts (brand new and included). It has a trunk liner with dividers. I have a 1080p HD wide angle dash cam that is mounted and included with the car. It has had the Soundaktor (fake sound generator) unplugged. I can plug it back in or leave it, your choice. I didn’t want any fake sounds in my car, and it’s much quieter inside the car without it. FULL DISCLOSURE: The front windshield was replaced about 6 months ago, due to a large can or something getting kicked up by a car ahead of me on the freeway. (Something always seems to happen wbuy a brand new car… Like it’s a magnet). I have 17” GLI OEM wheels and tires that I put on the car, because I wanted all the Autobahn featuredidnwathe 18” two tone rims on there. Not my style. I like understated. But I also have the 18” GLI Bathhurst wheels and tires that I took off the car and stored. They have very little wear on the tires and are in like-new condition. I took them off the first month. You can use the 18’s with summer tires and put snow tires on the 17’s and always have a set of stock GLI rims on the car, if you live in a colder climate. It has matching flat black license plate frames and screws front and rear. I have the original window sticker, and all books and manuals. Both key fobs are included. I have also just paid the registration, so it’s valid until March 2015. The scheduled services have been done at 10,000 miles and again at 15,000 miles. I will be doing the 20,000 mile service soon. I also changed the oil and filter at 3,300 miles because I just didn't like the idea of going 10k miles on the oil that came from the factory. I also changed the oil drain plug with an ECS tuning / Magnetic drain plug. Only VW specific oil and VW and MANN filters have bused. I also only use 91+ premium gasoline. Usually Chevron, Mobile or 76. That’s about it. If you have an interest in the car, feel free to contact me. I had to order this car with the gray/ black color option and Autobahn package with manual 6 speed transmission. I have seen a few 2012’s for sale, but remember that they did not have a traction control button prior to 2013. In other words, you cannot disable the traction control like you can on the 2013. Also, there are no TPMS sensors in the wheels of the 2013. The previous model had them, and that means that when you swap rims/tires, you have to make sure they also have the TPMS sensors. On this car, you can swap rims and tires all you like. There is one button inside the glove box that you push to re-program the system. It uses the ABS system to monitor tire rotation. That is how it measures the air pressure in the tires, via the difference in the turning rate of the wheels. Look on forum sights and you will see what I am talking about. Thanks for reading my ad and if there is anything I didn’t put on here that you would like to know or if you have an interest in this car, I can be contacted at 949-412-5723. Car is also listed locally. Listing will be deleted if it sells locally. I also drive the car daily, so the mileage will be about 70 miles per day higher, but I will update mileage weekly while the car is listed for sale. I will be continuing to take care of any services or warranties and anything else that the car may need until it sells. I have always treated all my cars/ bikes/ projects the same way. Until it sells, it's still my car and maintained accordingly. As a bonus, I will have it detailed and I will fill the gas tank before you pick it up. The Current NADA values on my car are $21,500 Trade In and $24,625 Clean Retail Value. Thank you for reading my listing. Let me know if there is anything regarding the GLI that I have not covered in this listing, that you would like to know about. Have a great day! P.S. If you do not need the 18” wheels and would rather purchase the car with the 17” wheels that are on it right now…Then I would be willito sell the 18” wheels separately and sell the car for $22,000. Please keep in mind that I will not sell the rims before I sell the car. Just in case new owner wants both factory sets. Thank you.

Some intriguing showstoppers from Auto China 2024

Sat, May 4 2024

Electric” may be the most appropriate word to describe the atmosphere at the recent Beijing motor show, now considered to be one of the world’s largest automobile exhibitions. China’s vision of the electric mobility future is on full display during the ten-day event, which ends this weekend. Organizers estimated that 117 new global and China-domestic models would debut in Beijing. In fact, about 30 foreign brands had stands, a turnout that hasn’t been seen at auto shows since before the pandemic. The South Koreans and the Japanese came, and from Germany, representatives making the case for their brands included CEO Oliver Blume of Volkswagen Group, Oliver Zipse of BMW Group and Ola Kallenius of Mercedes-Benz Group. A few of the models would be powered by gasoline—by ICE, or internal combustion engines—but the vibe was clear: electrics are it. According to to show officials, Beijing hosted a total of 278 electric and plug-in hybrid models on display. After digesting most of the reveals unveiled during the show, we’ve parsed a list to a select few of the more interesting models. Here it is, in no particular order: BYD Ocean-M concept BYD has launched off-roaders, SUVs and sedans in its global assault on the car market — and added a hot hatch concept at Auto China. The Ocean-M (above) is a Volkswagen Golf-sized five-door hatchback, meaning it’s likely that BYD will pitch it as a rival for the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX. The show car has sporty design, rises sharply towards the rear window, and sharp surfacing at the front and along the flanks. The show car has a huge rear wing, aero diffuser and side blades.   Denza Z9GT BYD’s luxury brand, Denza, a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, showed the Z9 GT, a massive wagon carrying three electric motors putting out a stunning 952 horsepower. The EV weighs an extraordinary 6,338 pounds, almost 440 pounds more than a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. BYD's design boss is a German -- Wolfgang Egger, who previously worked for Alfa Romeo and Audi. Lamborghini Urus SE The Volkswagen subsidiary brought a bit of Italian sex appeal to Beijing in the form of “super” luxury SUV that received its first public premiere in China. The plug-in hybrid Uris SE SUV gets nearly 800 horsepower as well as a series of visual and technology updates inside and out.

Everybody's doing flying cars, so why aren't we soaring over traffic already?

Mon, Oct 1 2018

"Where's my flying car?" has been the meme for impending technology that never materializes since before there were memes. And the trough of disillusionment for vehicles that can take to sky continues to nosedive, despite a nonstop fascination with flying cars and a recent rash of announcements about the technology, particularly from traditional automakers. Earlier this month, Toyota applied for an eye-popping patent for a flying car that has wheels with spring-loaded pop-out helicopter rotors. The patent filing says the wheels/rotors would be electrically powered, while in on-land mode the vehicle would have differential steering like tracked vehicles such as tanks and bulldozers. At an airshow in July, Aston Martin unveiled its Volante Vision Concept, an autonomous hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle it developed with Rolls-Royce. Aston says the Volante can fly at top speeds of around 200 mph and bills it as a luxury car for the skies. Audi used the Geneva Motor Show in March to unveil a flying car concept called the Pop.Up Next it developed with Airbus and Italdesign. If the Pop.Up Next, an electric and autonomous quadcopter/city car combo, gets stuck in traffic, an app can be used to summon an Airbus-developed drone to pick up the passenger compartment pod, leaving the chassis behind. Audi said that the Pop.Up Next is a "flexible on-demand concept that could open up mobility in the third dimension to people in cities." But Audi also acknowledged that at this point it has no plans to develop it. The cash-stoked, skies-the-limit Silicon Valley tech crowd is also bullish on flying cars. The startup Kitty Hawk that's backed by Google co-founder Larry Page announced in June that it's taking pre-orders for its single-seat electric Flyer that's powered by 10 propellers and is capable of vertical takeoffs and landings. The current version can only fly up to 20 mph and 10 feet in the air and has a flight time of just 12 to 20 minutes on a full charge. The Flyer is considered a recreational vehicle, so doesn't require a pilot's license. Uber says it plans to launch its more ambitious Elevate program and UberAIR service in 2023. "Uber customers will be able to push a button and get a flight on-demand with uberAIR in Dallas, Los Angeles and a third international market," Uber Elevate promises on its website.

Red Bull says VW deal in F1 now 'up in smoke'

Sun, Sep 27 2015

The Volkswagen diesel scandal will likely have long-term repercussions, reverberating across the industry potentially for years to come the likes of which we're only beginning to discover. And that could include Formula One. Now if you're thinking that VW doesn't compete in F1, you're right. Even between all of its various brands, the group has little history in post-war grand prix racing. But if was getting close. As we reported last week, the German auto giant and the Red Bull Racing team were nearing an agreement that would (or would have) seen the former take over the latter. The deal was said to include VW developing a new power unit (as the combined turbo engine and electric motor are referred to in the sport) and acquiring the multiple championship-winning team, with the energy drink company that now owns it transitioning back to a more traditional sponsorship role. It remained to be seen, though, just which of its many brands VW would choose to promote through the new program. Team principal Christian Horner, however, now says that the deal has "seemed to go up in smoke." That doesn't mean that it's off the table entirely and indefinitely, but it would follow logically that between the scandal it's currently facing, the ensuing change in leadership, and drop in stock value, the board in Wolfsburg has other problems to focus on and devote its resources. While ostensibly a logical move for Volkswagen, that would leave Red Bull in a difficult position. The Renault partnership that once led to utter domination with four back-to-back world championships has since fallen dramatically off pace. Although it impressively held on last season to come second in the championship with three race wins, it hasn't won a race yet this season – and heading into this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, stood fourth in the standings... its worst position since 2008. "With the way the regulations are, unless you have a Mercedes or Ferrari power unit it is quite simply impossible to compete," said Horner. "And if we are not able to compete, then you have to question what is the validity of remaining in F1." If the Volkswagen deal does indeed fall through, the team will likely need to buy its power units from another supplier – with its chief rivals as the only likely candidates. Related Video:
