1998 Volkswagen Jetta Tdi on 2040-cars
Tucson, Arizona, United States
1998 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 216,500 Miles 1.9 Turbo Diesel I bought this from a VW dealership a little over a year ago and have used it for my daily commute for most of that time. It runs great, starts every time and makes good power. It gets 40 mpg in town, cold A/C, Kenwood CD player(although it won't lock in the dash). I just renewed the registration and had to run it through emissions and it passed just fine. It is rust free, although the paint has some Arizona sun damage. Good Cooper tires. Many new parts over the time I have owned it such as rear brakes and bearings, A/C system(with new compressor from VW, new drier, and new expansion valve), and fixed some oil leaks. Currently the engine still leaks some oil, not sure from where, first gear grinds a little if you try and put it in too fast, the muffler doesn't leak but the outer layer of metal squeaks on the undercarriage, and the drivers side mirror adjuster doesn't work. There is some general wear and tear on the interior and exterior. The vehicle has no warranties and is sold as is. Shipping is the responsibility of the seller. I can help a little since I work at a dealership complex. Feel free to ask any questions or send someone for an inspection. I'm asking for $500 deposit within 48 hours and full payment within one week. |

VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini
Fri, 14 Mar 2014It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012
Sun, 13 Jan 2013The last time Volkswagen moved this many vehicles in America in one year, Richard Nixon was still a President in good standing, Let It Be was a radio hit and each car wearing the VW badge boasted an air-cooled engine. That's right, with a grand total of 580,286 vehicles sold in the US last year, the VW Group has broken its own four-decades-old sales record by 2,899 vehicles.
Of that 580k total sold, 438k were Volkswagens and 139k were Audi products - increases of 35.1 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, in year-over-year sales. The ultra-premium members of the VW group also fared well; Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for a 23.3-precent increase, and Lamborghini delivered 520 units for a 52.9-percent jump. Bugatti, we're told is "right on track."
Jetta (pictured) sales paced the marque with 170k models sold, and Passat also finished very strong with sales of 117k total. Tiguan also racked up its best year on file, with 31,731 models shifted.
