2000 Volkswagon Cabriolet. 92 K miles. 1 carful owner since new. This little convertible is far nicer than you average. It was carfully garaged its entire life. It has never been smoked in. It has never been in any type of accident. The paint shines like new and is just incredible. The top is like brand new with no wear or fraying anywhere. The cream beige leather, on a scale of 1 to 10 is a ten the color still shows new no cracks, lines, tears, or scuffs. Still soft to the touch. All other interior pieces show exceptionally too. Every single thing on this car works very well. There is not one missing knob or button, no weird, smells, the steering wheel is not worn and faded. The carpets and door panels show like new. All the service records and manuals are complete and in the glove box. The wheels are excellent as are the tires. Under the hood and trunk compartment are all fresh, clean and original. The original spare has never been used. The tools are still in their original case. All the trim chrome and glass are nice and clean. All the headlights and brake lights etc are clear, nice and unscratched. Mechanically the car is excellent and ready to go. It runs and drives just beautifully. It is smooth and tite, has no leaks, the brakes are excellent, etc, etc, if you want the very best this is a rare opportunity to own one that has been babied since new. Please call Brian. I am on my phone late until midnight. You can call me 24/7 with any questions Thanks a lot (206) 819 |

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
VW previews retouched 2014 Touareg for Beijing
Wed, 16 Apr 2014Volkswagen is in New York this week showing off its new Jetta and Golf TDI SportWagen concept. But in less than a week, the German automaker will be off to China for the Beijing Motor Show, where it will showcase the revised Touareg you see here.
A subtle update on the Touareg that's been on the market in its current form for four years now, the facelifted model features reworked styling front and rear, an updated interior and a host of new technologies to keep it current in the highly competitive SUV market. Among those new features are larger bi-xenon headlights, coasting function, Google Maps integration and a post-collision braking system designed to prevent a second crash.
VW will offer the new Touareg with a variety of engines around the world, but in North America it'll carry over the same six-cylinder powertrain options as the outgoing model: a 3.6-liter V6 with 280 horsepower, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with 240 hp (though torque isn't listed, we'd expect around 406 pound-feet, same as last year) and a hybrid that marries a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 to an electric motor that combine to deliver 380 hp.
