“KNOW THE STORY, SHARE THE DREAM, GET INVOLVED”
What you are looking at is a 1969 Volkswagen transporter bus that has been fully restored by EMC in Ventura California.
From the first day this bus came into the shop (March 18th 2013) till now, it has undergone an extensive 1 year full restoration all in the hopes to bring this “one of a kind” vehicle back to life to live again for another 40+ years!
We knew from day one that this bus will need a lot of work, time and commitment to get it to the high level of quality we are aiming for. So what better way to show to the people the transformation this bus received than providing them with HUNDREDS of pictures? So we did! And I mean hundreds of pictures! From day one till now we snapped pictures of all the stages this bus has gone through. You will be truly amazed on how this bus went from 40+ years of age all the way up to dealership quality!
And most of all, the story of this bus goes deeper than “just a restoration” it is my story behind it. I truly believe that the person interested in this bus is not just “buying” the vehicle; but rather you are knowing my story, believing my dream and getting involved. Let’s share this adventure together.
Upon purchase of the vehicle you will receive a complimentary RESTORATION portfolio!

THE RESTORATION
“We have touched, refurbished,
restored, replaced, examined everything on this bus”
BODYWORK-
Started with stripping the complete
exterior, then cutting out all visible cancer and then was repaired with all original German metal. All body
work done in metal with hammer and dolly, NO bondo was used, and any found on
the vehicle was removed, minimal glaze was used to even the surface area after
hammer and dolly work, then was sealed. High build primer was applied, sanded,
and prepared for paint.
PAINT-
A gallon of single stage off white paint was applied
in multiple coats on the top half and the complete interior of the bus then a gallon of beryl green was applied in multiple coats on the
bottom half and into the engine compartment, then the exterior was color sanded
and polished to give a long lasting shine. The engine compartment was finished
off in black.
The rims were stripped to bare metal
and painted to a durable shine with the same color applied to the bumpers. Then
the complete under carriage including fender wells were prepped and painted
with black under carriage spray to preserve and prevent rust and protect from gravel
damage.
INTERIOR-
After the complete interior was
removed all surface areas were prepped, and had a generous coat applied of rust
converting and encapsulating black paint called POR 15.
Upholstery- the original upholstery
material was removed from the frames and then the metal was prepped and coated
with POR 15, reupholstered with high grade durable vinyl and tweed. A new vinyl
headliner was installed of the original color and pattern. All new panels were
purchased and wrapped to match the unique style of the seats.
ALL factory floor mats were replaced
with NEW rubber copies of the original to provide original feel and durability.
All vent windows were rebuilt to achieve original functionality and were
reinstalled with high quality German seals.
Window regulators were cleaned and greased
to provide smooth travel. Interior lights, handles, and cranks were replaced
with quality reproductions to give the original feel and look.
EXTERIOR-
Fresh set of new tires p195/75R14
polished original deluxe trim, original glass, and every window and door seals replaced
with brand new German seals. NEW windshield, original side glass, new stainless
steel side mirrors, new head light rings, new VW emblems. Rebuild all vent
windows.
DRIVETRAIN-
We started by stripping the 1600 engine down to the bare block. Took all the engine tins and stripped them down to bare metal and then did any needed repairs, sprayed them completely with the factor style black paint. The engine checked for tolerances then reassembled with new pistons, and barrels. The heads were machined and had all the parts restored or replaced with high quality replacement parts. The engine was reassembled with a real German gasket kit. The original carburetor and the distributor were rebuilt. A new and complete clutch system was installed. The transmission had the fluid removed, tolerances checked, and then rebuild gasket kit was installed. All new brake parts were installed.
DISCLAIMER- Actual mileage is unknown. The mileage listed is what was read off the guage that was in the vehicle when the restoration ended. The bus is sold as is and has no warranty. If any issues come up with this bus within the first 30 days and is located within 200 miles of my location Ventura, Ca I will be happy to come and help resolve them.

J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?
You can find details on those and more findings in the press release below.
This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Nov 2014As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires
Mon, 11 Mar 2013There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.
