Well, I hate to do it but "BLUE" must go.  This is an Arizona bus that has only spent eight months in Illinois. I bought this bus from a young man last January 2014. I bought it mostly because is was very dry, practically no rust, but bought it sight unseen. When I got it it wouldn't run, so without putting a single mile on it, I had it towed 100 miles to one of the best shops in the midwest. Seven months and $4000 later it drives, runs, shifts, stops and starts like a champ. Problem is, I can't afford a bus with this kind of investment. Thought I was buying it ready to drive for the most I could pay. Anyway, my bad experience and my loss is your gain. The repairs are too numerous to mention but if you're really serious I can fax you a copy of the $4000 receipt. Basically we did gear box, tranny, completely rebuilt the carb, new manifolds, new tailpipe, wheel bearings, valve cover gaskets, new clutch cable, lights, etc. Besides these things the shop did, the previous owner put on very nice wheels, new tires, a nice stereo, nice custom fitted carpet and a rear seat that is factory made to make a bed. I have also added new rear turn signal lenses, front turn signal lenses, new high impact plastic glove box, gear shift extender, new side mirrors from Bus Depot and a few graphics. Currently the spare is stored under the rear seat but have everything needed to return to its original place on the front of the bus. The original color was brown, There is not rust on front or middle floors, sliding door track or along bottom. There is some very minor surface rust on the rear corner. The metal is very solid, the tires just sprayed back and took the paint off just enough to let a little surface rust begin. This is not a 25K show bus and so it doesn't cost 25K. It is solid, looks great from 25' away and will get you lots of honks, nods and a few peace signs. As I said, the only reason it's for sale is because I put $4000 worth of repairs on my credit card and it's going to come due very soon. No low ballers. It's worth the money and it's only going to get worth more as you can see if you're watching these ads. I'll help set up shipping, send you more pics if you need them or anything else you need. It's a good running, solid desert bus and although it's not perfect you will enjoy every minute of driving it.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon leaked ahead of official unveiling

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Wagons ho! These three images of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Wagon have leaked online ahead of the car's official debut, which may very well be at the Geneva Motor Show. Looking over the photos doesn't really bring any surprises - after all, this is a VW Golf with a wagon rear end grafted on, or basically what we expect next Jetta SportWagen will be.
We can only share these three images at this time, but fret not, folks. There's little doubt that all the details and images will be flowing from Volkswagen in short order. In the meantime, click on the images above to view them in high resolution.

Defying Trump, major automakers finalize California emissions deal

Tue, Aug 18 2020

WASHINGTON — The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and major automakers on Monday confirmed they had finalized binding agreements to cut vehicle emissions in the state, defying the Trump administration's push for weaker curbs on tailpipe pollution. The agreements with carmakers Ford Motor Co, Volkswagen AG, Honda Motor Co and BMW AG were first announced in July 2019 as voluntary measures prompting anger from U.S. President Donald Trump. A month later, the Justice Department opened an antitrust probe into the agreements. The government ended the investigation without action. The Trump administration in March finalized a rollback of U.S. vehicle emissions standards to require 1.5% annual increases in efficiency through 2026. That is far weaker than the 5% annual increases in the discarded rules adopted under President Barack Obama. The 50-page California agreements, which extend through 2026, are less onerous than the standards finalized by the Obama administration but tougher than the Trump administration standards. The automakers have also agreed to electric vehicle commitments. Volvo Cars, owned by China's Geely Holdings, said in March it planned to join the automakers agreeing to the California requirements. It has also finalized its agreement. The settlement agreements say California and automakers agreed to resolve "potential legal disputes concerning the authority of CARB" and other states that have adopted California's standards. In May, a group of 23 U.S. states led by California and some major cities, challenged the Trump vehicle emissions rule. Other major automakers like General Motors Co, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Toyota Motor Corp did not join the California agreement. Those companies also sided with the Trump administration in a separate lawsuit over whether the federal government can strip California of the right to set zero emission vehicle requirements. Ford said the "final agreement will reduce emissions in our vehicles at a more stringent rate, support and incentivize the production of electrified products, and create regulatory certainty." BMW said "by setting these long-term, predictable, and achievable standards, we have the regulatory certainty that is necessary for long-term planning that will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but ultimately benefit consumers as well."Â
