Up for auction is a very clean 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia fully loaded camper van. It comes with the sink, propane stove, fridge (all function fine) full privacy curtains, pop top, that sleeps 4 adults, childs cot that goes over the front seats, automatic transmission that shifts perfectly and smoothly, and A/C. The A/C does not currently work, and its condition is unknown, but all the components are there. The engine is a 4 cylinder 2.0 Liter gas motor that runs fantastic. The van has little to no rust, with the exception of the battery box area. There is a couple of small holes under where the battery sits. Here is a list of everything I have done to it since I bought it in July of Last year.

New Paint

New Tires

New Brakes,(front and back)

New Shocks

New Engine Seal Kit,(had an oil leak)

New Light Lenses

New Windshield and Seal

New front Door Panels

New Pop Top Canvas

New Kick Panels

New Front Carpet

New CV Axles and boots

The van has all the original interior and the upholstery is in remarkable shape. The wood grain cabinets are in  very good shape, with the exception of a couple of small chips in 2 corners. The fiber glass top is perfect, and has a new seal. The rear bumper has a couple of  flaws in it, but still looks fine, and the front bumper is in very nice shape. I am sure I have left something out, but all in all this van is one hell of a nice van, and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.I will be glad to help with any shipping arrangements . Please ask any questions you may have, and I will answer them as best I can. Also, please only bid to purchase. Any bidders with less than 5 transactions with ebay  must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel their bid. Thank you.

Honda wins Commercial of the Decade, but not for the ad you think [w/VIDEO]

Honda's Commercial of the Decade: "Grrr" - Click above to watch video
The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...

Volkswagen throws a Polo-palooza with four new or upgraded models

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen unveiled a parade of new and upgraded Polo models at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, including the Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo (pictured above). While they will likely never make an appearance this side of the pond, it is fun to see what European subcompact drivers will be driving later this year.
The new BlueMotion models represent the most efficient petrol and diesel options in their class, according to VW. The BlueMotion TDI offers just 73 horsepower from its diesel engine but gives the equivalent of 76 miles per gallon (US) in the EU test. The BlueMotion TSI brings a little more power with its 88-hp petrol engine and has a combined rating of 57 mpg (US) in the EU cycle.
The Polo BlueGT provides a balance of performance and economy, and for the 2014 model, it gains a 9-horsepower boost to its 1.4-liter turbocharged to give drivers 147 hp at the press of the accelerator. This year's car also has an optional Sport Select suspension with electronically controlled dampers to improve handling a bit. It's still fitted with active cylinder management to use as little gas as possible when cruising.

VW says it has sold over 100,000 TDI diesels in America this year

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

Volkswagen Group of America has lit oil-burning fireworks to celebrate the sales of more than 100,000 TDI Clean Diesel vehicles in the US between its VW and Audi brands this year. According to VW, that means it is responsible for more than 75 percent of diesel-engined cars and SUVs sold here - perhaps not surprising when the two brands offer a total of 12 diesel models.
What might be surprising is that the number of diesels isn't far off the estimated sales of 90,000 battery electric vehicles and PHEVs, with 15,000 of those accounted for by the Tesla Model S, another 12,000 or so being the Toyota Prius PHEV.
VW's keen to play up the ease of making diesel part of your life, stressing that it doesn't need any change to the refueling infrastructure and that "this is a technology delivering real answers to society's concerns about fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions without compromises."
