1977 Volkswagen Bus Westfalia - Great Condition - Nearly Original on 2040-cars
Scituate, Massachusetts, United States
1977 VW BUS CAMPMOBILE WESTFALIA This bus is and has always been 100% road worthy. I have done all maintenance myself and have had ZERO issues mechanically. I would not hesitate to drive this bus anywhere in the world tomorrow! It runs great and starts every time in all weather conditions.
Idles perfectly, great compression in all cylinders, upgraded
electronic ignition. Newer matching fuel pump (still has all Fuel Injection
working 100%), newer coil. newer battery. Very good fuel economy - mid
20's mpg. Odometer shows 20,300 miles, however, that is actually 120,300. Transmission shifts very clean in all gears, never pops
out. Front disk brakes, rear drum all in good shape. She stops
straight on a dime. Accident free bus. just a few tiny spots of surface rust near original window
rubber (only the front windshield rubber has been replaced)... which can be
very easily repaired (if you wanted to make this a perfect showroom type bus).
This bus would win nearly any show entered in as is. Might be the
finest looking and running bus east of the Mississippi :) Also includes: - Original carpet front and back. - Original plaid upholstery (I do have a roll of original plaid which will be included in sale if ever needed) - Original like new rear hatch mosquito net.
- Original child's cot or hammock for front cabin. - Dual Battery set-up (power is drawn from second battery
while camping) - Small solar panel for trickle charging while camping. - 400 watt DC to AC inverter with 2 outlets. - Tachometer, Oil temperature and Dakota
Digital Cylinder head temperature gauges. I have done my best to describe the vehicle... Please do not hesitate to ask
questions or request additional photos or videos. I am located near BOSTON, Massachusetts. 02066. all INTERNATIONAL BUYERS WELCOME - I CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING TO ANYWHERE WORLDWIDE at buyers expense. This is a nearly 40 year old vehicle and is sold in AS IS condition with no

Watch Chris Harris in the electric VW ID.R waste a McLaren 720S
Mon, Feb 24 2020The Volkswagen ID.R doesn't have much in common with a McLaren 720S, other than the fact that they are both performance-crazed cars. One gets its power from batteries, the other from gas. One uses electric motors, the other a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. One is a halo prototype vehicle, the other is a road-legal supercar available for purchase. So when Chris Harris and "Top Gear" decided to "race" the two against each other, it was more of a demonstration of the VW's unreal capabilities than any sort of real competitive faceoff. In episode five of Top Gear's 28th season, which just aired February 23, the trio of Harris, Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness welcomed Youtuber KSI on the show and ventured out on a luxury sports car road trip with an Aston Martin, Porsche, and Ferrari. Separately, Harris took to the track to test out Volkswagen's golden egg of the moment, the ID.R. As VW fully launches into its electric-vehicle push, the ID.R is meant to exhibit what battery-electric technology is capable of. With two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, the 2,425-pound ID.R has four-wheel drive and makes a claimed 670 horsepower. As Harris notes in the video, the ID.R. was not built for a specific regulation-bogged racing organization or competition, and thus, it's only held back by the rules of Mother Nature and Father Physics. Since the car's debut, it has been annihilating records around the world, including at Pike's Peak, Goodwood, the Nurburgring, and Heaven's Gate. Chris Harris didn't set any records in the ID.R., but he certainly showed how outrageous this machine is. The 710-horsepower 720S can go from zero mph to 62 mph in less than three seconds, and the ID.R has a sizable lead within that same time. Again, this wasn't an instance of test-and-conclude, it was a show of perspective. The ID.R is a race car, so even though the 720S is one of the best supercars in the world, it never stood a chance. See for yourself above. Related Video:
Wagons make a bit of a comeback, with new models, sales on the rise
Thu, Jan 10 2019Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative. Audi prepping a flex-fuel A3 for Latin America
Fri, Oct 16 2015Volkswagen's Audi division hasn't fared well from its parent company's diesel-emissions scandal, especially in the US and Europe. In South America, though, Audi is set to unveil its first vehicle of the flex-fuel variety, according to Nseavoice. Perhaps the German automaker can earn some good karma down in the Southern Hemisphere. The model is the 2016 Audi A3, which is made in Audi's Brazil factory. The engine is a 1.4-liter variety, and it will be able to run on either conventional gasoline or ethanol, or a blend of both. The decision makes sense because ethanol is plentiful in Brazil since the government has long pushed for it and there's plenty of sugar-cane feedstock to produce the stuff. Audi can use all of the positive news it can get, especially in the wake of VW's diesel-emissions scandal. As many as 11 million VW and Audi diesels may have been fitted with software that cheats emissions-testing systems. One result from the scandal's proverbial shrapnel is that the Audi A3 TDI diesel was stripped of its 2010 Green Car of the Year Award by Green Car Journal. The decision marks the first time in the award's history that a winner was stripped of the honor. VW has a long history offering flex-fuel vehicles in Brazil. In 2003, the German automaker was the first to debut a flex-fuel engine, and within two years, VW's Brazil factories were making 300,000 flex-fuel vehicles annually. Other companies have since jumped into Brazil's flex-fuel fray, including Nissan and Honda.
