1976 Volkswagen Vw Westfalia Bus Van-nice! on 2040-cars

1976 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Bus-Nice! Exterior: The bus is in great shape. It was repainted by the previous owner to match factory original green and it looks stunning! There are small imperfections, dents and scratches but nothing significant or easily noticeable. This bus is almost 40 years old and in amazing condition for the age. It has been stored inside since I've had it. All the glass is original (couple nicks on windshield) and the doors open and close with ease. Interior: The ALL ORIGINAL INTERIOR is in good used condition. The front seat edges is showing some wear. A few nicks here and there on the furniture. Also it appears the sink faucet head was replaced with newer one. Original green curtain set 360 degrees. Slide in table also included with sale. The Engine: The engine is the pancake VW 4 Cylinder 2.0 Liter, replaced by the previous owner 6 years ago. It runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. Converted to carb last year and I like it! The Good: This classic VW Bus is in great shape and could be easily taken to VW Shows/Events or left as a daily driver or used for camping trip. It doesn't have any significant rust which is remarkable for it age. It drives and shifts better that any other bus I've ever driven. They all seem to be a little finicky but this one it really straight forward and relatively easy to drive. The light and turn signals works as they should. All tires and original rims in good condition and currently don't need any attention. VW hubcaps and all chrome handles are shiny and looks really sharp! Things to do in near future: This is a 37 year old vehicle so not everything look brand new. There are small imperfection in the interior and exterior. The gas gauge flickers at times but I was told this is an easy fix. The canvas should be replaced since its original so I'm including a BRAND NEW Canvas and Gasket for the new owner ($550 value). I purchased from Bus Depot two weeks ago. I took the rear white bumper off to sand and repaint but liked it actually without since its so clean in the back. This bus does have minor room for improvement but is in amazing condition given the age. This is a no reserve auction and the winning bidder drives away with an amazing all original VW Camper Bus with years of enjoyment ahead. If you have any ?'s, feel free to email me and I will respond asap! Also, I encourage inspections so I'll be available for showings in sunny Wilmington, NC. NOTE: NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDING. US FUNDS ACCEPTED-CASH, CERTIFIED BANK CHECK, OR WIRE. As soon as payment is received and cleared, title will be shipped to new owner. |

US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York
Tue, 12 Mar 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.
Automakers not currently promoting EVs are probably doomed
Mon, Feb 22 2016Okay, let's be honest. The sky isn't falling – gas prices are. In fact, some experts say that prices at the pump will remain depressed for the next decade. Consumers have flocked to SUVs and CUVs, reversing the upward trend in US fuel economy seen over the last several years. A sudden push into electric vehicles seems ridiculous when gas guzzlers are selling so well. Make hay while the sun shines, right? A quick glance at some facts and figures provides evidence that the automakers currently doubling down on internal combustion probably have some rocky years ahead of them. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is a prime example of a volume manufacturer devoted to incremental gains for existing powertrains. Though FCA will kill off some of its more fuel-efficient models, part of its business plan involves replacing four- and five-speed transmissions with eight- and nine-speed units, yielding a fuel efficiency boost in the vicinity of ten percent over the next few years. Recent developments by battery startups have led some to suggest that efficiency and capacity could increase by over 100 percent in the same time. Research and development budgets paint a grim picture for old guard companies like Fiat Chrysler: In 2014, FCA spent about $1,026 per car sold on R&D, compared with about $24,783 per car sold for Tesla. To be fair, FCA can't be expected to match Tesla's efforts when its entry-level cars list for little more than half that much. But even more so than R&D, the area in which newcomers like Tesla have the industry licked is infrastructure. We often forget that our vehicles are mostly useless metal boxes without access to the network of fueling stations that keep them rolling. While EVs can always be plugged in at home, their proliferation depends on a similar network of charging stations that can allow for prolonged travel. Tesla already has 597 of its 480-volt Superchargers installed worldwide, and that figure will continue to rise. Porsche has also proposed a new 800-volt "Turbo Charging Station" to support the production version of its Mission E concept, and perhaps other VW Auto Group vehicles. As EVs grow in popularity, investment in these proprietary networks will pay off — who would buy a Chevy if the gas stations served only Ford owners? If anyone missed the importance of infrastructure, it's Toyota.
Bosch fuel pumps spark recall of 2015 Golf, GTI and Audi A3
Tue, Apr 28 2015A few weeks ago, BMW and Nissan both issued recalls for some of their vehicles to replace Bosch-supplied fuel pumps. The pumps had nickel plating that could flake off and cause a failure. Volkswagen Group is the latest automaker to be affected by the problem and has a campaign for the 2015 Audi A3, VW Golf and GTI. In total, 6,204 units of these models are in need of repair. The problem with the VW Group vehicles is identical to the previous recalls. It's possible for the pump's nickel plating to come off and cause increased friction. Eventually, this can result in the component's failure. According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF, here), there are no reports of accidents or injuries from this issue in the VW Group models. Bosch spokesperson Linda Beckmeyer tells Autoblog that these vehicles don't all necessary share an identical fuel pump, but the parts all use the same plating process. The problem also prompted repairs of the 2014 Ford Escape several months ago, she indicated. When asked if the issue could prompt more campaigns, Beckmeyer said that she "can't speak to that" because automakers decide on the recalls. Owners should receive notice of the problem soon, but according to the NHTSA documentation, there currently aren't enough pumps to fix all of these vehicles. "Bosch is working closely with automakers regarding replacement parts," Beckmeyer said. When available, dealers will replace the components free of charge for affected customers.
