Meyers Manx Style Dune Buggy No Reserve!! on 2040-cars
Merced, California, United States
Up For NO RESERVE AUCTION is this beautiful Volkswagen-powered Dune Buggy. If you have ever owned or driven one of these neat little cars you know what fun they are to drive! Just running errands is a blast! And a ride on a warm summer evening is pure pleasure! These little Buggies have been in demand ever since Bruce Meyers built the first one in his garage, beginning the most popular "Kit Car" that there has ever been. Many people including myself would buy an old Bug and make a Dune Buggy out of it. And if you have ever built one you also know that it's a lot of work. Here is a turn-key Buggy that you can enjoy from day one. This little jewel is a true survivor. It is built on an old style, five lug, swing axle frame. The paint is beautiful, just a couple of small chips. The seats have very beautiful "Sew Fine" upholstery on factory VW Beetle low back front seats and custom-fit back seat; front seats have seat belts. All lights and gauges, including the tachometer and horn, are in working order. Completely street legal in California. The 1600cc dual port motor was rebuilt two years ago but has only been driven about 1000 miles since then. It is very powerful! New K&N air filter, new fuse box, new battery. Always been taken very good care of, older adult owned for many years. As you can see by the pictures this is a car that you will be very proud to own. Take it to your local "Bug In" and watch people admire it. Perfect for Pismo Beach, or the desert. It is getting harder and harder to find nice "original" Dune Buggies. NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!! This means that someone will get this great little car. Clear California title, California tags good until NEXT July. No smog required in California. I feel this car is a very safe (and fun!) investment. The only problem you'll have with this buggy is that your face will hurt from smiling all the time when you're driving it! Will ship anywhere in the world at buyer's expense. I can help with shipping, I work with a very good auto transport company that will deliver it to your door. Available for inspection anytime during the auction by appointment. Please remember you are bidding to buy, not just to come take a look at it. Full payment must be made within three days after the end of auction, and I don't take PayPal for payment on cars. E-Mail, or call or text me at 831-383-2499 with questions. If you have ever wanted a Dune Buggy, but don't want to build one then "This Buggy's For You!" Good Luck and HAPPY BIDDING!!!

CARB has 20 days to confirm VW's 3.0-liter TDI emission fix
Wed, Feb 3 2016VW's diesel scandal has been in the headlines since last September, but solving the problem it proving difficult. Volkswagen Group has submitted a proposal to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fix about 85,000 vehicles with the 3.0-liter diesel V6 in the US, Reuters reports. CARB now has 20 business days to test if the plan actually reduces emissions. If accepted, VW could finally begin a recall and end the stop sale on vehicles with these engines. In a statement, CARB pledged to, "respond following a thorough and complete review to make sure the plan addresses the presence of the illegal defeat device and follows the necessary environmental, vehicle and public health and safety regulations." Neither CARB nor the EPA outlined the proposed repairs, but Porsche CEO Oliver Blume already suggested the fix for the engine in the diesel Cayenne. Examples from 2013 and 2014 allegedly need a new catalytic converter and software update, and those from 2015 and 2016 only need the improved code. It's not yet clear whether this procedure would work for all models with the 3.0 TDI. While the EPA issued the notice of violation against VW's 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel in September, the first one for the 3.0-liter V6 came in early November. By the end of the month, the agency broadened the scope to about 85,000 vehicles, including some examples of the VW Touareg, Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, and Porsche Cayenne. The affected companies issued stop sales on new models with the engine. Audi eventually admitted to regulators that it didn't disclose three auxiliary emission control devices in the powerplant's code and promised to develop a software update to fix the problem. CARB gave the automaker 45 business days to submit the proposed solution. If accepted, this repair would allow VW Group to end part of the emissions scandal, but there's no guarantee the regulators consent to this solution. Just a few weeks ago, CARB looked at the automaker's plan to fix the 2.0-liter TDI and rejected it, claiming a lack of detail.
South Korea to file criminal charges against VW exec
Wed, Jan 20 2016South Korea has tossed out Volkswagen's recall plans and is preparing to level criminal charges over its handling of the diesel emissions catastrophe, The Wall Street Journal reports. "Recall plans the company submitted to us earlier this month were insufficient and lacked key information, and thus are unacceptable," the South Korean Ministry of Environment said in a statement obtained by the WSJ. A ministry official hinted at the possibility of criminal charges earlier this month if VW's recall plan wasn't satisfactory, the Yonhap News Agency reports, and now it looks like it will actually follow through. According to the WSJ, South Korea has already ordered VW to recall 125,000 vehicles and slapped the automaker with a $12.3 million fine – one of the many countries to do so – but if it follows through with criminal charges against the company or its employees, it'd be among the earliest to so. Other countries, including the United States, are still exploring the possibility of criminal charges. Charges would likely come against both Audi Volkswagen Korea and its managing director, Johannes Thammer. It's not clear what the actual charge would be, but the WSJ claims Thammer could be facing up to five years in prison and a fine of 30 million won (around $24,700 at today's rates). For its part, VW officials in South Korea maintains that it is "doing its utmost to resolve the emissions issue" and that it plans to "offer further explanation" to authorities regarding its proposal for an emissions and fuel mileage fix in that country.
VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
