I purchased this vehicle a couple months ago, and unfortunately, due to a relocation, I must sell it.
The car is in decent condition - no significant rust problems and the engine runs!

It does currently have some difficulty starting, especially after fueling. I'm not sure why, but the clutch can still be popped, and it fires right up after having the battery sit on a charger for a bit. Possibly the alternator?

The engine is a rebuilt DUAL PORT 1600CC, so I'm assuming the body has 77208 miles and the engine has less (couldn't tell you for sure).
The exhaust is an aftermarket performace exhaust, which doesn't allow connection to the heater channels - thus no heat.

The body is in pretty decent condition. There is no significant rust/rotting problems. Solid floors, rear luggage area, and heater channels seem pretty decent. Might be some slight rusting of the channels by the front of the doors. There is some rust bubbling around the rain/roof rack things, and in a couple spots near the rear windows. There are some scratches and a couple small dings in the body of the car. There are a couple of spots where the paint was chipped enough to cause a little rusting. There is some minor rusting/pitting on the chrome parts. I wouldn't stand on the running boards, but i've never felt how brand new running boards feel with weight, so I'm not sure their condition.
When the headlights are on, the high beams are stuck on.
There is a hole in the driver seat, the headliner needs to be replaced (it is dirty and has one tear in the rear), and the dashboard is cracked. It is also eventually going to need new door cards - they are mismatched and the pockets are falling out of the back.

I also have the Bentley Manual and a Super Beetle Restoration Guide for this car.

This is pretty much the extent of my knowledge about this car, and to the best of my knowledge. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them.
The car is being sold As-Is

Pick-Up ONLY on this car. I will not attempt to ship.
Sorry - NO TRADES.

Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.

VW exec calls US ops a 'disaster'

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Today in the Tell Us How You Really Feel file we have Bernd Osterloh, head of Volkswagen AG's Group Works Councils and member of the company's supervisory board, labeling the company's US operations "a disaster." Why? Because Osterloh believes VW of America doesn't have the models it needs to be competitive here, hasn't been decisive enough about its plans and German higher-ups still don't understand the US market.
In truth, the top labor rep at the German conglomerate is echoing sentiments we've heard from VWoA executives for years, and there's been the same commentary from dealers: Germany doesn't pay enough attention to what the US market really wants. Even ex-VWoA CEO Stefan Jacoby, who preceded the recently departed Jonathan Browning, said early in his tenure that one of his tasks was to get his German bosses to start delivering what the US market demanded. New CEO Michael Horn is saying much the same thing seven years later, telling Sky News that it has to increase "the speed at which we bring new models to the market and innovation to the market."
Osterloh wants to get "more models" here, including a pickup truck, but we'd wonder if the economics have changed from when Jacoby said they'd need to sell 100,000 per year to make money. Osterloh also wants a decision on where the CrossBlue will be built. Although it looked as if the Chatanooga, TN plant would get the call, the Puebla, Mexico plant is still in the running because of lower operating costs. No matter what happens right now, Osterloh thinks the situation won't get better for another two years when revamped models arrive, but at least the company can start taking the steps for a better US future.

VW promises 7-seat CUV for America in 2016

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018.
That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. Read the full statement below for more.
