1974 Volkswagen Beetle/bug Custom, Like Dune Buggy/thing Conv/roadster Hot Rod on 2040-cars
Jacksonville, Florida, United States
Drives nice. Another couple months & springtime will resuscitate the winter sleeping buyer wanting a one-of-a-kind "red bull" for the warm weather roadster. Custom front to back; one of a kind. Mack truck hood ornament(bull dog). The first three pictures is to show "hubcap"/mag different look. Has full mag rims that were painted black on the fronts by previous owner as other pictures show. There is no back seat or top (I'm sure one can be installed even if a roll bar is part of the plan; even small buckets/jump seats may be adaptable). All carpeted with nice two fold middle split cover over battery & other floor well. Starts & runs good. No oil smoke; hardly any dripping. Clutch & shifting good. Two rear speakers. Compare with dune buggys on Ebay. A roll bar in my VW can adapt a bimini or similar sunshade targa, & work for surfboard, beach equip, etc. cool carry. Doors close easy, firm, & evenly (no sag, flex or drops). ALL NEW items: floor pan, wiring, brake parts, *front disc brakes, axle dust boots & bearings, shocks(rear have adjustable springs), front end parts, stainless trim pieces on running boards, $800 in Kumho tires, chrome lug nuts with locking one on each wheel (key to locking lugs is stored in engine compartment which locks), and so on. The battery is not very old. Also includes a 100% waterproof elastic cornered, & vented storage cover (for event outside parking, etc.; it does keep car dry). NEEDS SEAT BELTS. CLEAR TITLE/VEHICLE ID#. ROADSTER (NO TOP PRESENTLY), OR WHATEVER A DUNE BUGGY IS CALLED WITHOUT ANY TOP MECHANISM ))> *****LOCKING STEERING WHEEL, WHEEL LUGS, & ENGINE HATCH. ELECTRICAL CUT-OFF SWITCH TO ALL CAR FEEDS BEHIND PASSENGER SEAT********* ****** ***** ************* **************** $8,000 was put into this custom. * GREAT BUSINESS PROMOTION ATTENTION GETTER. * GEORGIA BULLDOG TAILGATER THEME & COLOR. * WOULD LOOK EVEN BETTER WITH A CUSTOM ROLL BAR/SNAP-ON CANVAS BIMINI (THIS WOULD RAISE VALUE // EVEN BETTER LOOK FOR SURE). I MAY BE PAINTING THE GRILL "CHROME" AT SOME POINT & INSTALLING NEON LIGHT EFFECTS IN GRILL GROOVES/UNDER RUNNING BOARDS (LOOKS LIKE THE GRILL WAS SILVER & PAINTED BLACK). ^^^^^^^^***** THINKING ABOUT TAKING TO THE SPRING TURKEY ROD RUN IN DAYTONA & LOCAL VW MEETS/CLUB EVENTS, SO i'LL RUN A LISTING VARIOUS TIMES UNTIL WEATHER WARMS IN MOST AREAS.

2023 CES Editors' Picks
Mon, Jan 9 2023Over the past few years, it has become more and more clear that the Consumer Electronics Show is a car show. And this year that reality is more clear than ever. Not only did established automakers show off seriously important vehicles, but a traditional electronics company brought a car that gives an idea of its intents (with the help of establishment car company). With so many car reveals, we had to rank our favorites. Our picks for this show are entirely electric. Or at least, they are on paper, since many are concepts. Considering the name of the show, it would be a little strange if they weren't. In fact, not only are many of our favorites concepts, they all are save for one. See how they shook out below. VW ID7 camo View 28 Photos 5. Volkswagen ID.7 "The ID.7 definitely got lost in the crowd at CES. That it was camouflaged definitely didn't help, even if that camo was electroluminescent (BMW trumped it big time with its color-changing Dee). Nevertheless, this is a close-to-production hatchback-ed sedan, not unlike today's Arteon, with an extra-long wheelbase courtesy its EV architecture. It should be a solid answer to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, and even if people obviously prefer SUVs now, VW says there is still a market for sedans. I know I'd probably prefer one." –Senior Editor, West Coast and Reviews, James Riswick Peugeot Inception concept View 12 Photos 4. Peugeot Inception "It's not often that show debuts surprise us. While Peugeot teased the Inception ahead of CES, its unveiling seemed almost incidental. But just look at this thing; it's like an electric French Mustang with someplace important to be. I don't buy into the stupid 'It's not a wheel!' thing that Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson described as providing a video-game-like drive experience, but that bit of silliness aside, this is a really promising design study. Give us more of these and fewer tall boxes, please." –Associate Editor Byron Hurd Afeela prototype from Sony Honda Mobility View 11 Photos 3. Afeela by Sony Honda “Ever since Sony showed off an impressively put-together concept car at CES a few years ago, IÂ’ve been anticipating the companyÂ’s next move. Apparently, that next move is “Afeela.” No, I donÂ’t love the name. The specs from SonyÂ’s original concept car give me hope that this prototype sportback (itÂ’s a hatchback!) will be fun to drive, though.
Volkswagen feuds with thriving stablemate Skoda
Wed, Oct 4 2017BERLIN, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Volkswagen managers and unions are seeking to curb competition from lower-cost stablemate Skoda, move some of its production to Germany and make the Czech brand pay more for shared technology, company sources told Reuters. As VW struggles to cut jobs and spending at German factories and turn the page on dieselgate, Skoda's superior car reviews and profitability have intensified the brands' rivalry within the Volkswagen empire. VW now wants to reduce what it sees as Skoda's unfair advantages - combining German technology with cheaper labor - and reaffirm the top-selling brand's primacy ahead of a wave of new electric car launches, the sources said. The tussle between VW and Skoda is reviving tensions at the heart of the Volkswagen group between profits and jobs, and between central control and autonomy for its 12 vehicle brands. "Instead of devoting our efforts to beating Tesla, we may just be setting up a futile internal conflict," said one manager. Once the butt of jokes, Skoda has blossomed under 26 years of VW group ownership into a successful mid-market carmaker, steadily winning business from rivals - including VW - and surpassing even Audi's operating profit margin last year. At the same time, VW is facing thousands of job cuts as management moves to trim excess capacity at German factories. Its powerful domestic unions see Skoda's success as both a threat and a potential lifeline. VW workers' representatives are now demanding the transfer of some Skoda production to their underused German plants, a source close to the supervisory board told Reuters. The proposal aims to offset declining output of the VW Passat and aging Golf that could otherwise threaten more jobs. They are also making the case that Skoda should pay higher royalties to use VW's main common vehicle platform. The so-called MQB architecture also underpins mid-sized models from the group's Audi and SEAT brands. Responding to the news, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said he would meet Skoda management and unions to ask for clarification. The government will seek to ensure that VW investment plans are followed through and that "production is not moved outside the country," a statement released by Sobotka's office said. Skoda's main union warned that a production shift could cost as many as 2,000 jobs. VW's works council declined to comment.
VW readying two-row CUV concept for Detroit
Wed, Dec 10 2014We're likely getting yet another glimpse of Volkswagen's future crossover at the upcoming 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, in January. According to Automotive News, two anonymous sources within the automaker indicate a CUV concept will be shown there. The concept is said to be a five-passenger preview of the brand's future seven-seat model. Previous versions of the crossover have carried the name CrossBlue (pictured above), but there was no indication whether or not that would continue. The original three-row concept debuted at the 2013 auto show in Detroit, and VW followed it up with the CrossBlue Coupe Concept in Shanghai later that year. In early 2014, the company announced the CUV would go into production sometime in 2016, along with plans to invest $7 billion in North America over the next five years. During the summer, the automaker made things even more official when it declared plans to invest $900 million to build a 538,000-square-foot expansion into its Chattanooga, TN, factory to assemble the new model. Production of the crossover was slated to begin by the end of 2016, at the time. According to Automotive News, even more changes in VW's CUV lineup are on the way. The Tiguan is reportedly getting an update next year that could be joined by coupe and long-wheelbase variants, as well.
