Flat 4 steering wheel, Gene Berg short shifter, Rockford Fosgate stereo system with rear speaker tray, rancho transmission (approx 5k miles on it). I recently performed a complete rebuild of the front end including all of the following (all have less than 5 miles drive time and are all new parts): All new ball joints, wheel bearings front and back, steering box, steering dampener, turn signal switch, turn signal relay, 2" narrow CB performance front beam, Airkewld front single pot Wilwood disc breaks, Airkewld custom lowered shocks all around, break master cylinder, new rubber fuel lines, stainless steel flexible break lines all around, new steel hard break lines all around, fuel tank cleaned and coated inside and out with rust preventer. Entire front clip cleaned and coated with POR rust inhibitor The rear was also lowered 1 outer spline with new rubber grommets and many rear pieces sandblasted and powdercoated. I am also including the original 1967 front beam, 2" narrowed CB performance front sway bar (removed due to ground clearance), a box of goodies (including fan belt, hoses, various gaskets, etc), car cover, original steering wheel and shift lever, grease gun, battery tender, and torque meister wrench for rear gland nut removal. Issues with the car I am aware of include a rusted area in the rear package tray (this has been coated with rust converter and temporarily patched), a fairly large dent in the right rear fender, and a small rub on the front tires on wide turns. It also needs the front alignment done as has not been done yet after the rebuild. As best I can tell, the engine is NOT original to vehicle and is a 1300cc. Will ship, but buyer to make arrangements please. Original mileage is unknown. |

VW close to decision on selling Bugatti to Rimac
Sun, Feb 21 2021FRANKFURT — Electric hypercar maker Rimac Automobili and Volkswagen's supercar brand Bugatti are a good technological fit, Porsche's CEO told German weekly Automobilwoche, fueling hopes that a deal between the two could happen soon. British automotive magazine Car last year reported that Volkswagen was on the verge of selling Bugatti to Rimac Automobili, citing sources. In exchange, Porsche, also owned by Volkswagen, would raise the 15.5% stake it owns in Rimac, founded by Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac, Car said. "At the moment there are intense deliberations on how Bugatti can be developed in the best possible way. Rimac could play a role here because the brands are a good technological fit," Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said. "There are various scenarios with different structures. I believe that the issue will be decided by the group in the first half of the year," said Blume, who also sits on the management board of parent Volkswagen. Rimac has developed an electric supercar platform, which he supplies to other carmakers, including Pininfarina. Blume also confirmed higher savings targets for Porsche, saying the carmaker plans to support results by 10 billion euros ($12.1 billion) of cost cuts by 2025, up from 6 billion previously. TN politicians may push to end VW incentives if plant goes union
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Volkswagen's Chattanooga Assembly Plant is scheduled to vote on whether to unionize in the coming days, but Tennessee state lawmakers are threatening to deny future tax subsidies to the factory, if the vote is successful. The factory is currently the only Volkswagen plant worldwide that is not unionized.
The states's Republican lawmakers have been particularly vocal against the union vote. Tennessee state senator Bo Watson said during a press conference that VW would have a "very tough time" with future incentives if the vote were successful, according to Automotive News. Tennessee House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick said the "heavy hand" of the UAW is not welcome there. VW has drawn criticism from both sides because it has allowed both pro- and anti-union groups to speak to workers and hand out leaflets.
Roughly 1,500 factory employees will vote on whether to unionize from February 12-14. If successful, the Chattanooga factory would be the first in the US organized under a German-style works council system where white- and blue-collar workers directly negotiate factory issues with the company's management.
This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Nov 2014As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
