Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this classic '66 VW Beetle restored in a Love Bug theme. The exterior showcases a pearl white finish with Herbie stripes & number 53 graphics. It rides on custom wheels & is powered by a peppy 1300 c.i. engine.
The paint and body show well through this little Beetle.
For those of you too young to remember the "Herbie The Love Bug " movies, heres a short clip from the Disney movie. This is the first that Herbie's owner realized he was special.
This one is as cute as a Bug. The two wood & metal custom trays really add to this Beetle. It would look great with perhaps some vintage luggage and or surf boards affixed.
The tires are in good condition all around as are the polished custom wheels.
Open the doors to 1966.
The interior features restored vinyl bucket seating along with a restored rear seat. The upholstery is a burnt orange. The seatbelts match, front & rear.
The dash features the factory speedometer gauge cluster - functional and Sapphire III AM Radio - not working.
The 1300 c.c. engine was tuned up in 2012 with a replaced carburetor, fuel line, ignition point, distributor cap & rotor, etc. Just over $1,300 was spent on the mechanical maintenance with verifying receipts. The engine runs good and the 4-speed manual transmission shifts like a stock VW should. The engine is clean and in good condition.
The undercarriage is in good condition. The drivetrain underside is very clean.
The underbody and engine underside look really good.
There are a few small areas of rust-through in the pan corner photographed above.
The door panels are in great shape.
This Love Bug was photographed at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum. Be sure to visit our friends at the Flight Museum if you find yourself in Dallas, Texas.

On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018. That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. Read the full statement below for more.
Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal. On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.
As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well. But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume. It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.
