This Classic TR6 was recently found sitting under a carport where it has spent almost 20 years. It was parked in 1995 and had not moved since then. From what I was told, the previous owner was sick and parked the car and never touched it again.

I picked this up thinking I would restore it or maybe do a Rover V8 swap into it but I have way too many projects already and I know I will never get to it so I am hoping someone will give this the love it deserves.

Body

The body is very straight and there are no signs of any collisions. It had been repainted back in the early 90s and the paint still shines nicely. It was not a show quality paint job but nice for a driver. It does have some orange peel and some checking but overall, it looks very nice. There are a few minor scratches. It was painted a maroon color but the door jambs, trunk and under the hood still wear the original color.

Top

The top is in decent shape but there are a few small holes (see pics) and a tear at the front edge on the drivers side near where it meets the top of the windshield. The frame for the top is in good shape but it sticks a bit and will need lubricating. The rear plastic windows are pretty clear and flexible and not torn or cracked. It also has the tonneau cover and the complete interior cover.

The Engine and Transmission look to be original to the car. I have not touched it other then seeing if it would turn over. The engine is free and turns over with a jump start. The engine still has oil in it and the oil looks good. The carburetor's linkage is partially free but some of it is stuck and will need cleaning and lubricating. Surprisingly, the dashpots in the carbs still have oil in them.  The transmission seems to go into all 4 gears and reverse. The exhaust looks complete and original and still in decent shape from what I can see.

Wheels/Tires

The car has the stock TR6 Wheels that look to be in nice shape with all 4 beauty rings and center caps.  The tires are older and dry but are holding air and roll fine. The spare looks to be original and very clean with an original Michelin Redline tire.

Interior

The interior is complete and very nice. The door panels are in good shape and not torn or ripped but are a little faded. The dash is in amazing condition. There are no cracks and it is not faded and the wood is nice and not cracked or faded. All the gauges are in good shape too. The seats are in pretty good shape too. The drivers seat has a few small tears, the passenger seat is nice. The carpet is looking a bit worn and has a few stains.

Glass

All of the glass is in good shape. The windows roll up and down properly. The door latches work properly and both doors open from the inside and outside handles.

Electrical

The wiring looks to be complete and not molested. I have not tested any of the electrical components so I am not sure what works or doesn't but from the condition of the rest of the car, I would think most of it is likely working.

The body has some of the typical TR6 rust issues. The front floors on both sides have some rust with small holes and corrosion. I would think both floor pans will need patches or replacement. The rocker panels have a few small holes in them. The seams along the top of the body line have some rust but no rot through. The drivers side inner rear quarter panel has some holes and the center of the spare tire well has a small hole but the rest of the trunk and rear quarters look good and solid.  The area under where the battery sits is pretty rusty. It will need to be replaced. The rest of the car seems very solid. The fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid are all solid too.

Overall, this is a complete TR6 that looks like it was well maintained prior to being parked and with a bit of work, will be a great car and just needs someone that is looking to give it the love it deserves.

The odometer is reading 64,885 and the car looks too nice for the odometer to have turned over but it likely has. The seats, dash and door panels do not show the wear associated with higher mileage. True mileage is unknown.

There are a bunch of extra parts in a box in the trunk and a workshop manual and many parts catalogs, etc.

It comes with a clear title.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
