2 x Toyota Tercel 4x4 SR-5 Wagons:
I'll keep this short and simple. We have 2 wagons for sale with one title for the undamaged bronze wagon. Both cars are complete and have not ran in years. Silver and Blue car: -This car was wrecked head on and a little rusty but complete with a good driveline with 183k miles and a newer head and carb. This car drove away from the wreck and onto the trailer to get it home. -Full of great spares for the other car -Full SR-5 interior with inclinometer on dash and plaid seats that could probably be rehabbed with a good scrubbing -6 speed extra low 1st gear transmission -4x4 -this car immediately fires when turned over and shot with starter fluid Bronze car: -clean title -Excellent rust-free body -broken back glass -complete SR-5 interior just like other car -6 speed trans -4x4 -engine spins freely So here's the deal, both cars ran in the last 5-10 years and were our personal vehicles. The bronze car is missing 2nd gear and the the wrecked car has a good complete driveline. The plan was to swap in the engine and trans from wrecked car and have a nice rust free driver with a complete parts car with another good engine. Both cars have some mildew inside and need a good cleaning. The silver car probably has the better interior so I would swap that in too. These cars are getting extremely hard to find and are the only 4x4's I know of that get an honest 35 MPG on the highway. I highly encourage prospective bidders to look at vehicles or at least call and discuss before bidding as to know exactly what they are bidding on. !!!!!!!!!!!!!PROJECT VEHICLES THAT WILL NEED TO BE TRAILERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!CALL ONLY... EMAILS WILL NOT BE ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! $500 DEPOSIT DUE IN 48 HOURS, PAYMENT IN FULL IN 7 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Mark Lockett (919)796-3115 |

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014
Sun, 23 Dec 2012Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.
This Irishman really likes the Toyota GT86
Sun, 10 Feb 2013Okay, okay - by this point in time just liking the Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, what have you) doesn't make you special. Even if you're a sort of funny sounding, funny looking Irishman, who probably isn't the most seasoned car reviewer ever, digging the GT86 is not news.
However, if, when you choose to publish your ten-minute-long review, you include exclamatory phrases about your own pubic hair, Ozzy Osborne's drug habit and "gentleman vegetable stuff," well sir, then you'll have our attention.
Don't give up on this video, available down below, after the first couple of minutes, we implore you. The silver-tongued Irishman doesn't really get warmed up until four minutes in, or so. Believe us, it's worth the wait.
Toyota to buck engine downsizing trend, may go larger and turbo-free
Mon, 14 Oct 2013Turbocharging isn't really Toyota's specialty, and the Japanese automaker isn't being shy about acknowledging it. Koei Saga, a senior managing officer in charge of drivetrain research and development, says that eschewing turbos and increasing displacement of engines using the Atkinson cycle can produce better power gains without sacrificing fuel economy, Automotive News reports.
Toyota is investing heavily in larger-displacement Atkinson-cycle engines in addition to turbocharged engines, but Saga doesn't think the automaker will use turbocharging across many product lines. He apparently remains unconvinced that the technology "makes the world better."
In Toyota's eyes then, Atkinson cycle engines do make the world better, and here's how. Their pistons complete four processes - intake, compression, power and exhaust - in one revolution of the crankshaft, and the power stroke is longer than the compression stroke. Traditional Otto cycle engines require two crankshaft revolutions to accomplish those same four operations and have equal-length compression and power strokes. Atkinson cycle engines are more efficient, but less power dense, though increasing displacement can offset that shortfall.
