WILLING TO BARGAIN OR TAKE BEST OFFER Looks: This Tacoma is all blacked out and looks classy. The 3 inch Toytec lift that I added along with the 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grappler tires give this blacked out Tacoma an aggressive look without looking over-the-top. I receive compliments all the time on its looks and personally I love how it has turned out in its final form. Performance: As far as performance, there have been no mechanical issues since I bought this car new in 2007 and it truly is fun to drive. The suspension gives the truck a sporty feel on the road and the added rear leaf spring gives you ability to haul a lot of weight in the truck bed. I have put dirt bikes, atv's, you name it and it never complains. Aesthetics: Aesthetically, the truck is in pretty good condition with a couple exceptions. I painted the headlight housing, front grill and rear bumper myself because the chrome look wasn't for me. The rear bumper has held up famously, but the grill has unfortunately chipped away leaving a dull finish. This is literally the only problem with the truck and I am willing to adjust the price accordingly (A new grill is approx. $250). I will include a FREE billet "TRD" grill as well that should definitely make up for this unfortunate scar on an otherwise perfect truck. I'm not trying to list something as it isn't, but this is a pretty minor problem that can be fixed easily. Sound: I have upgraded the head unit along with all 4 Infinite Reference speakers and as a musician I LOVE this sound system. It has an IPOD hookup and is controlled by the ALPINE head unit. My friends like to ride in my truck just to listen to music and I agree with their sentiments. Gas and upkeep: Surprisingly the added lift and tires really hasn't affected the gas mileage and on long highway trips I see 20-22 mpg which is pretty good in my opinion for a truck. I usually get about 350 miles per tank. I've used premium fuel for the life of the truck and get the oil changed/tires rotated every 3-5,000 miles. It suns super smooth. I will also include really rugged tire chains for the rear tires for FREE. Any other questions you may have contact me personally at Jordan.Hansell@gmail.com |

Owner reflects on his $20.91 Toyota unintended acceleration settlement check
Sat, Nov 29 2014Where General Motors and Takata have grabbed many auto safety-related headlines this year with their problems with ignition switches and airbag inflators, a few years ago, a similar sort of scrutiny fell on Toyota for unintended acceleration. After multiple settlements with various parties totaling billions of dollars, the issues seem largely behind the Japanese automaker now. Owners are actually starting to receive their money, but it isn't exactly breaking the bank. Payouts are expected to be between $37 and $125 per person. Computer science student Jonathan Sourbeer received a check for just $20.91, and he considers what that money actually means in an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal. Sourbeer's biggest gripe is that the roughly 85 lawyers in the case are receiving $227 million in attorneys' fees and expenses, while the 25 primary plaintiffs and class representatives receive a total of just $395,270. According to the Frequently Asked Questions about the settlement, Toyota set up a $250 million fund to pay affected owners, as well. The money isn't for injuries or damages but for alleged economic loss to the vehicles. However, Sourbeer says he feels no personal suffering and still has the same car. In addition to the settlement, the automaker obviously has its own legal fees to deal with, as well. Sourbeer wonders how this is all going to affect Toyotas in the future. Obviously, the money has to come from somewhere, and it likely gets amortized over the company's vehicles in the coming years to add a few dollars to each one. That puts the problem back onto customers. Anyone involved in a class-action suit has likely seen this happen first hand. The lawyers take a large chunk of the money, and the rest is distributed in tiny morsels to those actually affected. Unfortunately, Sourbeer offers no solutions beyond saying the system needs to change.
Toyota says you might have the 40-millionth Corolla ever built
Sat, 07 Sep 2013The guy who bought the 50-millionth Toyota in the US got a free Camry and RAV4, but whoever in the world bought the 40-millionth Corolla in August gets a hearty "thank you" from the Japanese automaker. On sale since 1966, the Corolla is the best-selling nameplate in the world by a goodly margin (more than the Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Model T combined). So while you'd think that vehicle number 40 million would be sitting in a museum somewhere, Toyota can't even say in which country this milestone Corolla was sold, let alone to which customer.
One reason that Toyota is unsure where this Corolla was sold is the fact that the Corolla name itself is more than just the compact sedan sold in the US. On our shores alone, sales of the Matrix are lumped in with the Corolla, but around the world, numerous vehicles wear the Corolla name or share its platform. Scroll down for Toyota's press release, and it has also put together a website celebrating 47 years and 40 million sales for the Corolla... and counting.
Toyota, Daihatsu and Suzuki team up to unbox some fun-size electric kei vans
Thu, May 18 2023The G7 Summit is happening in Hiroshima, Japan, right now and some automakers have taken the opportunity to announce new projects. Toyota, their wholly owned subsidiary Daihatsu, and Suzuki (of which Toyota owns about 5%) made news with a trio of electric micro-vans built to kei car specifications. The battery-electric vans are part of an industry-wide push toward carbon neutrality. Kei-class vehicles, in addition to limited displacement gasoline engines, have strict dimensional restrictions that allow them to navigate the often narrow streets in dense urban areas. They're also privilege to certain tax breaks and parking benefits. [gallery ids="2474953,2474954"] The engine size rules obviously don't apply to the electric vans, but they will still conform to the size boundaries. Kei vans are often used to solve the "last mile" problem in logistics since they're able to whiz around crowded streets inaccessible by larger commercial vehicles. Daihatsu, which specializes in kei cars, will build the vans and name their variant the HiJet Cargo. The HiJet name has been a consistent one in the company's lineup since 1960, but these new versions will be front-wheel-drive in contrast to the rear-wheel-drive gasoline variants. Toyota's version will be called the Pixis Van, while Suzuki will be named the Every, a nameplate that's been around since 1982. Aside from the badges the vans appear identical. Range is said to be approximately 200km (124 miles) on a single charge. The exhibition was held in conjunction with the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, which former Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda heads. Toyoda stepped down from the top position at the company his grandfather founded in April, but still takes a overseer role as Chairman. Toyoda was criticized for being slow to adopt EVs, and new CEO Koji Sato has emphasized the role of battery-electrics moving forward while still taking a multi-front approach to carbon neutrality with hydrogen and hybrids. These vans were likely in development before Toyoda's retirement, though.
