THIS IS A 2001 TOYOTA TACOMA SR5 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE XTRA CAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH A BADLY RUSTED FRAME THAT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND CAN NOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY UNTIL IT IS. THE FRAME ISSUE WAS A TOYOTA FACTORY RECALL BUT THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND TOYOTA WILL NOT REPLACE IT NOW. OTHER THAN THE FRAME PROBLEM THE TRUCK IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND RUNS AND DRIVES PERFECTLY AND NEEDS NOTHING WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE STEERING RACK THAT LEAKS AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST AROUND $200.00. HAS THE 2.4 LITER 4 CYLINDER ENGINE THAT RUNS FLAWLESSLY WITH TONS OF POWER AND DOES NOT BURN A DROP OF OIL. ALSO FEATURES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE, SHIFT ON THE FLY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNIT THAT WORKS PERFECT, AIR CONDITIONING, POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, MIRRORS, BRAKES, STEERING, AM/FM STEREO WITH CD PLAYER, ALLOY WHEELS AND MANY OTHER OPTIONS THAT ARE TOO NUMEROUS TO LIST. Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...
Tue, 21 May 2013No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.

Thu, 29 Aug 2013Not surprisingly, the 50-millionth Toyota product sold in the US was a Camry, but Toyota had a big surprise in store for Michael Dee, the buyer of said milestone vehicle. Toyota group vice president Bill Fay showed up at Dee's house to not only personally thank him for the purchase, but also completely paid off that brand new Camry, presenting the owner with a clear title.
But that wasn't all. As you can tell from the image above, Fay had one more trick up his sleeve. The group VP brought along a brand new 2013 Toyota RAV4, which was also presented to Dee in appreciation. The best part is that Dee's genuine amazement was all caught on video, which is posted below.
Toyota issues multiple recalls for 6.4 million vehicles worldwide
Wed, 09 Apr 2014It looks like 2014 may go down as the year of recalls. We were already at a record pace, and now it seems Toyota is recalling 6.39 million vehicles worldwide, including about 30 of its models for a variety of problems. None of the faults have caused any injuries or fatalities, but there have been two reports of fires caused by a defective engine starter motor.
Toyota's numbers show 1.772 million vehicles being recalled in the US, but that includes some overlap because the Yaris is being repaired for multiple faults. According to The Detroit News, there are 2.36 million affected models in all of north North America, 1.09 million in Japan and 810,000 in Europe, plus smaller numbers in other regions.
Among the vehicles recalled in the US are 1.3 million units of the 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris. The problem is that the driver's airbag module is attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on the cable can be damaged when the steering wheel is turned, which deactivates the airbag and causes the airbag warning light to come on. Toyota is replacing the cable with an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin the repair. The company is sending affected owners notifications in the mail. According to The Detroit News, an unspecified number of Pontiac Vibe vehicles are also included in this recall because it shares the part with the Matrix.
