Bothell, Washington, United States

We bought this awesome vehicle in 2005, from the original owner who leased-to-won and also treated it like a baby - always parked in a garage at night, and sold to us in like-new condition with only 46,000mi.  It has been our baby since then, always parked in our garage when at home, with mostly highway miles from driving to our vacation home +100mi away. Only 139,000 miles!!

Extra's include-
  1. ARB bull bar (brush guard) from Australia... plus the original bumper
  2. Seat covers... the leather is in excellent condition, since the back seats were covered.  You are welcome to have the covers which I have now removed (see pics)
  3. Premium Customized After Market Wheel & Tire Package from Antera Systems
  4. Towing package
  5. Upgraded exchaust system
  6. Roof Rack (Including Thule Swedish Ski Carrier Package)
  7. Premium JBL Sound System with Multi-Disk CD

This vehicle has been regularly serviced (see the detailed vehicle history report) with the following big-ticket items completed-
  • timing belt in 2009 @90,000mi
  • brakes in 2012 @128,000mi
  • exhaust in 2013 @137,000mi
It has been a very reliable vehicle, in excellent operating condition.  Sold "as-is" including several items that are not in original working condition-
  1. Aerial for radio does not go up - not sure when this got stuck as we haven't listened to the radio in years!
  2. The driver's side rear view mirror has crack/star in glass - courtesy of my wife reversing out of the garage
  3. minor scratches/marks on front/rear bumper (see pics)
  4. tread on the tires is getting low (see pic) - Toyo 305/50R-20 120T Open Country A/T's were purchased in 2007
  5. sun-roof doesn't open - hasn't been opened in several years and seems to be stuck
I have never sold a vehicle on e-bay so I am happy to discuss over the phone - just contact me and include your phone number.

2014 Toyota Highlander

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

Midsize crossovers like the Toyota Highlander tend to play a thankless role in the life of today's modern family.
That's really too bad. With the ability to hold several hyperactive kids and tons of cargo while keeping everyone safe and comfortable in all kinds of climate conditions day in and day out, they're true heroes in the lives of hundreds of thousands of families across the country. Yet their car-apathetic owners often immediately forget about them as soon as their work is done. And nearly all midsize crossovers are thoroughly ignored by enthusiasts whose eyes begin to glaze over at first mention of the phrase "third row."
Toyota is looking to soften the blow somewhat by giving its midsize crossover, the Highlander, a big redesign for the 2014 model year. With a bold new look, updated suspension and a refreshed interior focused on comfort and convenience, Toyota aims to make the Highlander sportier to drive and more striking in appearance, because, as the marketing team explains, "families are going places and they want to get there in style."

Toyota engineer warns automous cars could increase fuel use, urban sprawl

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

An increasing number of people are starting to consider the potential downsides of a transition to autonomous cars. The FBI is already looking at them for the potential ill effects on law enforcement, and a scientist for Toyota is raising the possibility that driverless vehicles could actually be detrimental to the environment over the long term.
Ken Laberteaux, who studies future transportation for Toyota, thinks that autonomous cars could lead to more pollution, not less, says Bloomberg. However, Laberteaux's theory isn't so much based purely on science as it is considering behavioral and historical trends. "US history shows that anytime you make driving easier, there seems to be this inexhaustible desire to live further from things," said Laberteaux during a presentation at the Automated Vehicles Symposium in San Francisco, CA, cited by Bloomberg.
Laberteaux's belief is that if commuters can make their drives easier, then they will be more willing to live farther away from the cities where they work. The end result would be more urban sprawl and increased pollution from the longer travel times.

Sports 800 is a progenitor of Toyota performance

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.
