1995 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-door 4.5l on 2040-cars
Albany, New York, United States
You are bidding on a restored, garaged and very meticulously maintained 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser. The truck is a very clean and tastefully modified example of what a land cruiser can be. The interior has been completely restored with a brand new oem carpet and headliner. The carpet was one of 6 left in the entire country at the time. The leather seats have been re-wrapped in the stock color with Katzkin covers. Everything has been professionally and tastefully done. The truck needs nothing mechanically and is in perfect working condition. The exterior paint is shiny and 99.9% free of any dings and major dents. Probably 1 or 2 on the entire truck. The exhaust is a cat back Borla system which retails for $500. The look and sound of this exhaust is second to none. Under the hood, all major hoses have been replaced with brand new oem hoses including the phh (pesky heater hose), air intake hose replaced with a stainless steel EMS powered one. All new valve cover gaskets. All fluids have been changed regularly. New Battery, spark plugs, cap and rotor. Truck comes with a Pioneer cd deck and a remote starter. Tires are 5 Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/75/16 on 4 very rare Japanese JDM 3 piece wheels. I believe they are Work wheels. The 5th wheel underneath the truck is wrapped in a 285/75 Nitto Terra Grappler as well however is on an oem 16 inch spare. The headlights are hid 6k.
The bad: 2 small rust spots. 1 below the rear drivers side door, the other is a small spot on the top right corner of the windshield (both noted in photos). High mileage. At 226,484….this truck does indeed have high mileage but with the work that has been done to maintain it, I wouldn't doubt this truck could go another 200,000 miles. This truck has been with me since 2011. I am the third owner and I garaged and babied this truck. No mudding or rock crawling here. |

Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas
Fri, 02 May 2014Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV Rally Car To Compete, Barra bullish on Chevy Volt
Fri, Oct 31 2014The Toyota FCV will compete in the last stage of the 2014 Japanese Rally Championship. The sport-tuned hydrogen-powered car will tackle the 177-mile Shinshiro Rally on November 1 and 2, emitting no greenhouse gases in the process. The rally course will help prove the safety of the vehicle before it goes on sale in Japan in the next several months. The Toyota FCV, rumored to be called "Mirai" in Japan, will begin sales there before April, according to Toyota, and in the summer in the US and Europe. Read more in the press release below. Carsharing is becoming more popular, and more visible, throughout the world, including the US. According to WardsAuto columnist John McElroy, 18 percent of US drivers have used some sort of carsharing service. Additionally, he says 60 percent of Americans are familiar with Zipcar and Uber. Mercedes' Harald Kroeger says promotions like free parking for carshares in Stuttgart are encouraging growth for Daimler's carsharing service, Car2go. Read more at WardsAuto. Ethanol is being help up by rail transport, according to ethanol producer Green Plains. More and more stations are carrying E15 blend gasoline, but grain producers have complained that crude oil is given higher priority by the rail lines shipping it, which rail companies deny. Union Pacific and BNSF Railway say they are stepping up service to make sure that ethanol can be shipped reliably to customers. Read more at Omaha World-Herald. General Motors "has placed a significant bet [on] the electrification of the automobile," says CEO Mary Barra. In a speech to the Detroit Economic Club this week, she spoke about the Chevrolet Volt, and its importance to GM's future. While Barra admits the Volt's success has been "not everything we wanted," it has provided experience, and shows that EVs have "an important role in the future of GM." The new Volt is more refined, stores more energy, has longer range, uses less fuel and is a big investment for Michigan. She announced that the new Volt's electric drive system will be built in Warren, and that all of its major components will be made in Michigan. "Silicon Valley doesn't have a corner on the market for innovation, creativity and drive," says Barra. "These qualities exist here – in this region – as well."
