For sale is my 1979 FJ40 w/Factory AC and PS with with 41,450 original miles. Professionally restored. One of the nicest in the country. 3.70 Hwy gearing for 65 mph hwy drives to anywhere.

Every once in a while you see a super nice, very "detailed" FJ40 restore on eBay. This one will not disappoint.  Beautiful, classic Dune Beige. Best "classic" factory color of all time in my opinion.

The 2F, 4.2 litre engine runs extremely well. The 4 speed transmission has been gone through, shifts smoothly through every gear with ease. New belts, new hoses. This 40 accelerates to 65 mph with pep. Tracks down the road, straight and true. Brakes well with the discs up front, and drums in rear, with no pull. This is a peppy, 40 that runs as good as it looks. Starts easy, idles smoothy, and drives easy with the factory power steering and power assist breaks.

When you look at each photo, please look closely at the detail on this FJ40. It is really super nice, and a lot of items many restorers miss, are complete here.

New Pewter rims and new factory hub caps

*Regarding floor mats: I will buy for the new owner a set of Aussie molded mats for the entire floor area, front, middle and back. Great product from CCOT. You install. (they could not get them for me in time for this listing, but it is nice to see the condition of those floors without mats in the photos)
and on and on.

Many Land Cruiser enthusiasts make the mistake of buying a slightly rusted FJ thinking they will be happy. Rust never dies, it keeps coming back. Pay more for a completely rust free 40, like this one. Not a bit of rust anywhere. Not now, not before the restore began. That is key.

If you are thinking about a restore project, but do not have the time, I would consider your rust free FJ40 on trade. Original rigs only.

This is the one. Beautiful. Runs extremely well, super tight, and very sharp and very original.

Bid with confidence. I reserve the right to end the auction early, and at any time. Please include a telephone # with all questions; if your not a serious buyer, please do not ask any questions. This is not a 4X4 forum. Sorry, a few on the net blow it for all the rest of us. Hope the good guys understand!

Last photo: coming to the eBay block soon. "The nicest FJ40 "Super B" Diesel in
Bellatrix Yellow, on the planet".

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Toyota issues multiple recalls for 6.4 million vehicles worldwide

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

It looks like 2014 may go down as the year of recalls. We were already at a record pace, and now it seems Toyota is recalling 6.39 million vehicles worldwide, including about 30 of its models for a variety of problems. None of the faults have caused any injuries or fatalities, but there have been two reports of fires caused by a defective engine starter motor.
Toyota's numbers show 1.772 million vehicles being recalled in the US, but that includes some overlap because the Yaris is being repaired for multiple faults. According to The Detroit News, there are 2.36 million affected models in all of north North America, 1.09 million in Japan and 810,000 in Europe, plus smaller numbers in other regions.
Among the vehicles recalled in the US are 1.3 million units of the 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris. The problem is that the driver's airbag module is attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on the cable can be damaged when the steering wheel is turned, which deactivates the airbag and causes the airbag warning light to come on. Toyota is replacing the cable with an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin the repair. The company is sending affected owners notifications in the mail. According to The Detroit News, an unspecified number of Pontiac Vibe vehicles are also included in this recall because it shares the part with the Matrix.

Toyota reports huge quarterly profit increase, raises forecast for the year

Sun, 04 Aug 2013

Toyota isn't just the world's largest automaker - so far its the biggest winner for quarterly profits. With an enormous $5.5 billion take during Q2, Toyota took advantage of the weak Japanese yen and strong US demand to record a 94-percent improvement in profit over the same period from last year. So far, Toyota brought in larger profits than Ford and General Motors combined.
Toyota is showing no signs of slowing down either, as it has bumped up its forecast for full-year global production, going from 9.94 million to 10.12 million vehicles, on the back of a 13-percent drop in the buying power of the Japanese yen versus the US dollar. That strong exchange rate is largely responsible for Toyota's big jump in profits, although it also managed to shift 1.3 million vehicles in the US market this year. Strong Camry sales have also helped. But while Toyota is raking in the cash, it actually saw a small drop in market share, down 0.1 percent to 14.3 percent of the US market.
As is the case with most automakers, Toyota seems flummoxed by Europe, where it recorded less than one percent of its revenue. Still, as Automotive News points out, Toyota only maintains a 4.5-percent market share in Europe and is far less dependent on the continent than other manufacturers. Toyota also struggled at home, much like Honda. With 525,777 units sold, JDM sales were down almost 51,000 units, although Toyota still saw its operating profit jump from $3.5 billion to $4.6 billion.
