Drag Race Your Friends And Then Run Them Over!

Hello, and welcome to my FJ40 auction. I am the third owner of this vehicle, and she has been my daily driver for the last few months. This is one fast FJ40,  and she is incredibly reliable.
I have never had any trouble getting the car to run or start even on cold winter days. This is still the most reliable car I have ever owned. This FJ40 is untouched and all original, minus the V8 conversion.
The V8 conversion was done professionally and is very clean. The smaller radiator also helps heat the heaters up much more quickly than the old straight 6.
The vehicle has spent its entire life here in Eastern Idaho, and I know both of the previous owners. They kept everything on this vehicle, including the original shifting knobs, original engine mounts, front lockers, jack, winch, etc.. The list just goes on and on. I have taken photos of everything that comes with this vehicle. The winch was disassembled by the previous owner and is in pieces. I am not sure that it works.
This rig is really solid and is in excellent condition. The engine, transmission, transfer case, lights, heaters and all of the switches work. This FJ40 was taken care of and received regular oil changes and maintenance.
The vehicle itself is in excellent condition and doesn't have much rust for a Cruiser. The only real rust is on the driver's side fender and along the back by the rear barn doors. This would be an easy fix or you could just roll with it.
This FJ40 is stock as they come and is all original, minus the V8 conversion.

Here is a list of the original OEM parts on this vehicle:
The 4 speed transmission and transfer case are all stock.
The entire body, frame, axles, etc. are stock with no aftermarket parts.
The interior is all original including all of the switches, lights, and all four seats
The tire carrier, hubs, lockers, winch, jack, hub caps, glove box light, shifter knobs are all OEM and original to the vehicle.
The doors and hatch are all original and in excellent condition. The front and back doors are entirely rust free, and are some of the most beautiful FJ40 doors I have ever seen.
The paint on this vehicle is also original. The previous owners would shoot a little primer on the rig when it got a chip in the paint to keep it from rusting. It definitely worked, and you will be stunned by how clean this rig is.
You can see that most of this vehicle is stock and in great condition.

I personally really like the 1974 FJ40 because it was the last year of the hatch, but it also was the first year of the 4 speed transmission.
I know from past experiences that those ambulance doors are really dangerous for small kids, and fingers in general, if you don't secure them. The hatch never fails as long as you have it lifted high enough to get under it without smacking your dome. This one will fit the bill if you are 6 foot or shorter.

This was also the last year of the older style doors which, in my opinion are, the coolest of the FJ40 doors--that at least goes for the retro steel interior.

This FJ40 would be an ideal restore project, daily driver, or hunting rig. It does have a little rust along the rear, but everything else looks amazing.
This Cruiser has not been modified at all and is all original minus the V8 conversion.
The front seats look awesome and were fully restored a few years ago. The driver's side seat will need a little patch job, but is solid. The seats are original to the vehicle.
The 327 V8 in itself is a valuable engine, and this one is original and unmodified. Running (as it is) it is worth $2,500 or more on its own.

I have a video on Youtube that shows the car running, shifting, driving, and a complete walkthrough. You need to view this video to appreciate the power and beauty of this FJ40.
I can also store the vehicle for 30 days once payment is made if you need time to arrange shipment. You will need to pay me $100.00 a month to store it any longer than that.
Payment must be made within one week of auction ending. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day:)

Mazda's new Mexican plant capacity rises to 230,000

Sat, 05 Jan 2013

After the turmoil of last year, 2013 is getting off to a much better start for Mazda. The company has issued a release indicating that the forthcoming plant in Salamanca, Mexico has had its production capacity raised even though it isn't scheduled to go online until March 2014. The original plans called for a 140,000-unit capacity, 90,000 of that allotted for the Mazda2 and Mazda3, the remaining 50,000 for a small car Mazda would build for Toyota that would be based on the Mazda2. The new plans call for raising that by 90,000 units to a total of 230,000 units within two years, by the end of March 2016, and it looks like it will all go toward Mazda production to satisfy growing demand for Skyactiv vehciles. The Mexican plant's opening will be the return of Mazda manufacturing to North America, after Mazda6 production was moved back to Japan last year.
More good news for the company is that it projects 10 billion yen ($114 million) in net income for the financial year that will end in March. That would be a welcome turnaround from the 100-billion-yen loss in the previous financial year, part of a series of three annual losses in a four-year span.
You'll find the press release with the factory update below.

Toyota brings TRD Griffon GT86 to Goodwood [w/video]

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

In the midst of the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, there's a particularly special Toyota running up the hill. This special entry is a GT86 (the cousin to our Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ) that's been poked, prodded, and tweaked by the minds at Toyota Racing Development. The result of TRD's fettling is a nearly race-ready car.
Starting with the body, the hood, doors, trunk lid, and wings are all made of carbon fiber. The lightweight treatment doesn't end there, though. The bumpers, fenders, and diffuser all feature carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, while the windows are now made of polycarbonate plastic.
Under the hood sits the same 2.0-liter boxer engine found in the standard GT86, but its six-speed manual gearbox features a shorter final drive ratio for improved acceleration. The coilover suspension has been firmed up, and a TRD mechanical limited-slip differential replaces the Torsen unit. The TRD Griffon rides on TWS 18-inch wheels and Yokohama Advan tires. To bring proceedings to a stop, TRD has fitted its own mono-block caliper kit, complete with more robust racing pads.

Buy a Toyota GT86 and your wife will hate you

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

Marketing can be a very strange business. Convincing a man or woman (or child, really) that they absolutely cannot live without the latest, greatest new bit of technology oftentimes takes a unique approach. In the "online film promoting the Toyota GT86" you'll see below, created by agency Happiness Brussels, men are reverse-psychologied into thinking a new sports coupe will make them more masculine by getting their loved ones to hate them. Or something like that. We think.
In any case, we suggest you watch the video below to see how much fun men can have with a GT86 - or Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, presumably - at the expense of their significant others. Fair warning: There's a potential Not Safe For Work moment in the ad: beware of a brief male butt shot about 44 seconds in.
Marketing. Gotta love it. Unless you're married to a man. Or something like that. We think. Whatever, just watch.
