I bought this FJC new in April 2008, drove it off the lot with five miles on it. It has been nothing short of excellent, but I've purchased another vehicle and it's time for it to go. It has 93000 mostly highway miles. I have done all the maintenance and work on it myself. The tires are BFG All terrain 235-85/16 with about 60% tread left (they were installed at 69,200 miles). The brakes, clutch, transmission are all excellent, I've never had any sort of mechanical problem with it the entire time I've owned it. It has the factory All terrain package which includes a roof rack and 16" wheels. I removed the rack to make it easier to load/unload my canoe but it is included with the sale. We can bolt it back on when you pick it up if you like.
The good:
- Stock Front bumper (included) was swapped for a steel tube bumper made by Toy Outfitters
- Stock skidplates replaced with a full 5 piece set of Bud Built skids.
- I upgraded the front struts/springs to OME 885s to compensate for the weight of the bumper and skids. With the stock rear suspension, it rides level.
- It has a factory installed class III towing package. I upgraded the vehicle side trailer plug to accept a 7 pin RV plug and added a trailer brake controller.
- It has a CB radio with a "Bandi" antenna mount.
- Headrests for the rear seat are not in the pics, they are included.
The bad:
- There is a dent in each of the rear bumper extensions (the gray pieces at the end). They would pop out with a little heat from a heat gun.
- The CB antenna mount and the front bumper could use a coat of paint.
- Obviously it has some body damage on the passenger side. I had a tangle with a deer a while back which managed to dent or scratch basically every panel on the passenger side. None of the damage is major, but a body shop quoted me around $2000 for the repair. That's why I have the buy it now and reserve set very low ($8-10k below NADA average retail value). I've tried to show the damage in the pictures, please look carefully.
- There are a few scratches and blemishes inside and out from honest use. This is a *used* 4x4, don't expect perfect
I've described it as accurately as I can. If you have any questions just ask. You are welcome to come take a look at it and take it for a drive. The plates, insurance, and sticker are current.

Refreshed 2013 Toyota Landcruiser Prado gets official [w/video]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013We'd seen leaked images of the the refreshed 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, now Toyota has deemed it officially ready for the European masses it is aimed at. We can only hope the masses are ready for that grille, probably the most intense of the many changes made to the volcano-eating truck. The new face and its "powerfully projecting vertical bars" were designed to "accentuate the new Toyota's rugged appearance," as if the legendarily capable SUV wasn't rugged enough. Other changes include redesigned headlight clusters, stronger character lines along the sides, new taillights and license plate "garnish" in back, and a slew of new wheel choices. Both the three- and five-door are 20 millimeters longer, all of that in the front overhang, but the approach angle apparently hasn't changed.
The new organization of trims runs from Entry to Legend, Prestige and Executive. The interior has been reorganized with better seats in the second and third rows, a new upper center console, a redesigned panel for controlling on- and off-road driving functions, reworked Optitron meters with a 4.2-inch LCD screen, and new switchgear, fabrics and color schemes. Infotainment has been upgraded with Toyota Touch 2 and Toyota Touch 2 with Go. They mirror your smartphone if said phone happens to be either a Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2.
On-road driving dynamics have been improve with suspension changes, and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert added to the suite of safety features for maneuvering the beast. When it comes to the Land Cruiser's real reason for being, the five Multi-terrain Select choices and five-step Crawl Control are more easily used with a Multi-terrain Monitor reworked for more clarity.
Toyota to drop regular-cab Tacoma as small pickups take another hit
Fri, 02 Aug 2013Even as General Motors prepares to redesign its midsize pickups, the market for sub-fullsize trucks continues to shrink. The remaining competitors in the segment are the well-aged Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma, and now Truck Trend is reporting that the latter will be dropping its regular cab model due to poor sales.
According to the article, the available configurations for the Tacoma lineup will be whittled down in 2015, which apparently spells the end for the two-door Taco. The Tacoma is currently the last truck in its class to be offered in a regular cab configuration, with the Frontier no longer offering a standard cab model and spy shots of the next-gen Chevrolet Colorado not revealing any glimpse of a short cab, either.
Autocar pits McLaren MP4-12C against turbo Toyota GT86
Thu, 29 Aug 2013The Toyota GT86, in all of its forms, is one of the best-handling cars money can buy, a trait that can put a smile on the faces of all but the most jaded car enthusiasts. But if good handling isn't what they're looking for, then what is? Our first guess would have to be more power, something the 200-horsepower Toyota would benefit from. Autocar tries out that theory by driving two turbocharged GT86s on track, then pitting the more powerful one against the 616-hp McLaren MP4-12C in a track battle.
The first GT86 turbo Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe drives makes around 255 rear-wheel horsepower and a bucket-load more torque than the stock car. That's plenty of power to either have a lot of fun or get into a lot of trouble. But the GT86 that Sutcliffe tails in the McLaren is race-prepped, stripped to the bone and wears slicks to harness a heavy-hitting 335 hp at the wheel. Weighing in at under 2,500 pounds, the Toyota can't overcome the MP4-12C's power-to-weight ratio of 5.3 pounds per horsepower, but it comes pretty close.
Enjoy a lot of chasing and drifting fun in the video below!
