You are looking at a 1997 Toyota Celica GT Convertible.  I'm sure you have heard this before but honestly this car runs, drives, brakes, handles and steers like a new one.  I bought this car over a year or so ago because this is the body style of Celica that my daughter liked.  But now she just had her second child and she says there is no way that she can put both of them in the car.  Before I gave it to her I had it all checked out and maintained by a Toyota dealership. Checked out good except the park brake needs new cables. Which is common on automatic transmissions because they are never used and the cable corrodes and becomes stuck and won't move. I did not repair that. All other brakes were as new, front and rear. Aside from a cleaning the top functions perfect and has no leaks, rips, snags or tears. Has one small rock chip in windshield, no cracks. Shown in pic's.  The factory alloy wheels have some corrosion on them, see picture.  Zero rust, dents or scratches. Couple small rock chips in front bumper cover, if I did not say anything you  more then likely would not notice.  The A/C needed charged, it had a leak in the condenser so I had it replaced. Now A/C blows ice cold. At 140000 I was told it had a 77000 engine put in it with new timing belt and water pump. Car has no leaks at all. I believe the mileage on the engine to be correct so does the Toyota dealer.  The car performs flawlessly in every way including the automatic transmission.  Stereo has tape and CD all factory sounds great like new.  Has brand new leather seat covers.  Front and rear. Look to be factory like new. Tires are like new. The car also has a Alarm system with a remote start, seems to function perfect.   Car has absolutely no issues.  This is a seriously beautiful car.  There will be no disappointments at  all.  The car is priced to sell. I just have to many cars.  Please fell free to call and ask me any questions at all. Toyota says you might have the 40-millionth Corolla ever built

Sat, 07 Sep 2013

The guy who bought the 50-millionth Toyota in the US got a free Camry and RAV4, but whoever in the world bought the 40-millionth Corolla in August gets a hearty "thank you" from the Japanese automaker. On sale since 1966, the Corolla is the best-selling nameplate in the world by a goodly margin (more than the Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Model T combined). So while you'd think that vehicle number 40 million would be sitting in a museum somewhere, Toyota can't even say in which country this milestone Corolla was sold, let alone to which customer.
One reason that Toyota is unsure where this Corolla was sold is the fact that the Corolla name itself is more than just the compact sedan sold in the US. On our shores alone, sales of the Matrix are lumped in with the Corolla, but around the world, numerous vehicles wear the Corolla name or share its platform. Scroll down for Toyota's press release, and it has also put together a website celebrating 47 years and 40 million sales for the Corolla... and counting.

First Toyota unintended acceleration case headed for trial

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Toyota is going to be back in the spotlight, as the first of its unintended acceleration lawsuits is headed for trial. This case covers a Los Angeles sushi shop owner, Noriko Uno. According to the what the family told The Detroit News, Uno only put about 10,000 miles on her 2006 Toyota Camry in four years. Uno was apparently afraid of high speeds, avoiding the freeway and taking a route home along LA's surface streets to avoid them.
On August 28, 2009, Uno's Camry suddenly accelerated to 100 miles per hour, eventually striking a telephone poll and a tree and killing her. The family contends that Uno attempted to step on the brakes and pull the emergency brake, neither of which brought her speed under control, while Toyota maintains that improperly installed floormats and driver error have been behind the majority of the 80 cases expected to be heard in court.
In Uno's case, The Detroit News is expecting the trial to focus on the lack of an override if the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time. Brake overrides were installed on Toyota's European fleet. The Uno family attorney will need to prove to the jury that it wasn't driver error that killed Noriko Uno.

Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.
