This ORIGINAL UNRESTORED Celica ST, with automatic transmission, is powered by the venerable Toyota 2.2 Liter SOHC 20R, 96h.p. engine. It features a cast iron block and aluminum head with hemispherical combustion chambers, and uses a single 2-barrel carburetor, and averages 30 mpg. This caliber of original, un-restored, survivor vintage car can very well be considered a reference tool of authenticity for future restorations of other 1980 Toyota Celica ST's. This BONE STOCK original ST also sports a rare SUNROOF. ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA LICENSE PLATES!!!!!! Very clean body. NO RUST except for the leading edge on the sunroof. (see picture) DOES NOT LEAK!! The car runs and drives well, but could use a carb adjustment to idle smoother. No squeaks, no rattles, just turn the key and go! This car runs great. It draws attention, both on the road, and while parked. All original PAINT!!! No repaint or bondo. Never wrecked. Interior is all original. Front seats were recovered sometime in the past. Original radio. All gauges work. Even "low fuel" warning light.
ATTENTION: This car is on a current Non-Op with CA DMV. It will cost the new owner $79.00 to register it. It will need a smog if you are a CA resident. I have all the correct paperwork to transfer legal ownership to the new buyer. Either in CA or another state.
Serious bidders only. Full payment is due within three days of the auction end. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Because this is a NO RESERVE AUCTION, here’s is an opportunity for the average Joe to own this Japanese classic. p> |

Scion trying to build business case for FR-S convertible as Subaru bows out
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Hope may remain for a convertible version of the Scion FR-S, according to a report from Ward's Auto. You'll recall that rumors were swirling about the feasibility of a rear-drive Toyobaru convertible as early as October, and that back in November, Subaru - which makes the FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 - essentially nixed the idea of an open-topped variant.
"We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen," brand chief Yasuyuki Yoshinaga told Automotive News, according to Ward's, at the Tokyo Motor Show. "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change."
Despite Yoshinaga-san's arguments against a droptop variant, Toyota is apparently still considering the model. Speaking to media at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Scion's US vice president, Doug Murtha, hinted that the rear-drive droptop was in the works.
2014 Toyota Corolla to bow before LA
Sat, 30 Mar 2013We've sort of been wondering when Toyota would finally debut the next-generation Corolla sedan, especially since the current car is getting very, very long in the tooth. We got a glimpse of the new compact's design at this year's Detroit Auto Show in the form of the Furia concept seen above, but we figured we'd see the production car by now.
According to Edmunds, Toyota will be unveiling the new Corolla sometime soon, and it won't wait until the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Officials from the Japanese automaker did not state a specific location or date for the new car's unveiling, but said that the 2014 Corolla is expected to be on sale before the LA expo later this year and that it will be revealed "somewhere in the US."
Toyota did not divulge any details about the new Corolla, and we're willing to bet that the aggressive lines of the Furia concept will be dulled down quite a bit for the production model. Still, news that the new car is coming sooner rather than later is indeed a good thing.
Toyota Auris Touring Sports is a handsome Prius V alternative [w/videos]
Wed, 06 Mar 2013The Toyota Prius V has a lot to recommend it, but adventurous and sporty styling is not in its repertoire. That's why this new Auris Touring Sports has our attention. Claimed to be the "first full hybrid estate car" in the compact class, this two-box Auris has genuine visual panache to go with its load-lugging capability and parsimonious fuel economy. In the metal, we think its v-shaped grille and headlamp treatment acquits itself better than it does on the new RAV4, a model that shares its new design language.
Built by Toyota UK, the Auris Touring Sports hybrid is powered by a familiar-sounding 1.8-liter gas engine paired with an electric motor, with total system output quoted at 134 horsepower. The model will also be available in a variety of gas or diesel trims if you prefer your vehicle sans electrification (a non-hybrid model is shown). It goes on sale later this year in Europe, but don't hold your breath to see one in North America. Still interested? Scroll below to see a couple of videos and to read the official press release.
