Up for sale is my beloved 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8. CarFax and clean title in hand.

I am the second owner of this car, and I'm sad to let it go. I need something with better gas mileage for my work commute.

I purchased the car in Reno with 19,000 miles. It's been mostly highway the length of my ownership. It has a clean title, and is in fantastic condition for a 7 year old car.

This thing has ALL the bells and whistles, and is a pretty rare find. I was looking for this car in exactly this spec for months before I located it at a dealership in Reno.

PRO's & FEATURES:

- Clean title in hand ready for purchase.

- Oil changes every 3k miles, and serviced at Bay Shore Automotive in San Jose. Unfortunately, service records are unavailable, but the car runs like a champ, and is incredibly smooth.

- JBL sound system with navigation + 8'' factory sub in the trunk. AMAZING sound stock. The nav includes the disc and it ready to go wherever you are.

- Full time 4WD high & low, for when the going gets tough, and believe me this car can handle it. For those hairy situations, it also has hill decent control, and active differential locking.

- 4.7L V8. It's small enough to not get absolutely terrible gas mileage, but still has enough grunt and get up and go when you need it, and it sounds great. Exhaust is modified, but only lightly, and if you'd like I can make it sound stock again for purchase.

- It also has a trailer hitch in the back that came in handy for a small bike rack for me, or if you have a small camper or trailer, it could work well for that too.

- Both front seats are heated leather, power, and are in great condition.

- My personal favorite is the power tailgate window - a 4Runner staple. Makes loading and unloading super easy.

- I installed a top of the line Viper alarm system in it as well. I have both keys, one with a multifunction remote with LED color screen, and the other with just button commands. It provides great security with shock protection.

- Windows are tinted 5% on all doors and trunk. When I asked them for 35% in front, they decided to do their own thing and do 5% instead. I got used to it and never took it back. If you're someone that keeps valuables in the car, this is a great feature, but easily removable. I've never had any issues with CA in the 2 years it has been tinted.

- All badges are Plasti-dipped black. They look great against the white paint. If you're not familiar with Plasti-dip, it's a paint that is 100% removable by peeling it off, so if you don't like it you can just make them chrome again.

HISTORY & CONS:

- The car has been in one accident due to me not paying attention. I backed out of a spot in a garage and forgot I was next to a pole when I turned the wheel. The front left fender was damaged, and had to be replaced. Repairs were done at Capitol Auto Body through State Farm insurance, and looks as good as new. No other accidents at all.

- Current rubber is 275s all the way around and they will need to be replaced for winter.

- There are some small dings on the doors, but no paint missing on them. You really have to pay attention to see them. Typical for a 7 year old car, and people that don't care when they park next to you.

- About a year and a half ago, the front right spring gave out. The spring was soon replaced at Bayshore Automotive along with the front axle shafts as they were due for replacement. Service record available for this repair. Good as new.

- There are a couple of small cuts and a scratch on the inside of the passenger door from a friends dog that was in the car. Photo below.

A 2007 or 2008 4Runner in this spec is incredibly hard to find. It's a great car, and I've loved every moment of driving it, and now it's someone else's turn to enjoy it.

Japan offering $20,000 incentives for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles

Wed, Jul 23 2014

That tailwind Toyota may be feeling in Japan won't be from a stiff breeze off the northern Pacific Ocean. The Japanese automaker is getting ready to start selling its first production hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle in its native country next year. And the government is ponying up real big in incentives, Reuters says. The Japanese government will provide incentives worth about $20,000 per fuel-cell vehicle, Reuters reports, citing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. That sort of government money will bring Toyota's first hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle to the customer at under $50,000. Just so we're clear, Japan's incentives for battery-electric vehicles top out at about $8,500. That sound you hear is a bunch of Nissan executives tearing their hair out. Last month, Toyota said the price for the fuel-cell sedan would be about $69,000 in Japan, and while the company hasn't priced it for US consumption, the word's out that the car may be in the $50,000 range stateside. The fuel-cell sedan, which has a full-tank range of about 300 miles, goes on sale in Japan next April and will start sales in Europe and the US next summer. Honda is also debuting its first production fuel-cell vehicle next year, so Toyota's got company among automakers who are probably all raising a glass and saying "kampai" to the Japanese government right about now.

Lightweight Toyota GT86 spotted on Nordschleife with carbon panels, upgraded aero

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

We've seen (and frankly reported on) so many rumors of more powerful and performance-focused versions of the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S at this point that haven't materialized that, at this point, we're almost tired of them. Almost. But what we have here was enough to pique our jaded interests as only a carbon-bodied sports car on the Nürburgring could do.
What we're looking at is, well, we don't quite know, to tell you the truth. What we can tell is that it's a Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S for us) wearing new wheels and a carbon-fiber hood, roof, racing-spec rear wing and subtle lip spoiler. The vents in the hood indicate that the prototype in question could be packing an upgraded engine to go with the lighter body panels and upgraded aero, and the interior (at least as far as we can see) looks pretty well stripped out.
The right-hand drive configuration tells us this is either destined for former territories of the British Empire or for the racetrack. Considering the ride height, full glass and apparent lack of roll cage, our money's on this prototype is being developed for the Japanese Domestic Market, where Toyota badges the sports car simply as the 86. We can always hope, though, that some version makes it into Scion showrooms in North America... we just won't get our hopes up too high.

Here's how to follow this weekend's 24 Hours of Le Mans

Thu, Jun 11 2015

In the pantheon of motorsports, the 24 Hours of Le Mans stands as one of the great endurance challenges to man and machine. This year's event in France already looks to be one for the ages with Porsche setting record-breaking times in practice and the competition debut of Nissan's front-engine, hybrid racer. Thankfully, there's a massive list of ways to follow this automotive attraction. Reilly Brennan, the Executive Director of the Revs Automotive Research Program at Stanford University, and a friend of Autoblog, has once again assembled a helpful couch-kit to organize many of the options. Unfortunately, the old-school way of just turning on the television might be the most frustrating way to watch Le Mans this year. Fox Sports 1 and 2 are carrying about half the race, but the coverage bounces between them seemingly at random. The broadcast begins on Fox Sports 2 at 8:30 AM Eastern ahead of the 9:00 AM start and lasts there until 12:00 PM. Things don't pick up again until 7:00 PM Eastern on Fox Sports 1 for an hour, and the channels swap back and forth more from there. The Fox Sports Go streaming app offers more, but even it stops showing the race a few times. Thankfully, streaming Le Mans is easy. If you can't dedicate 24-hours on the couch, Radio Le Mans lets you listen to audio commentary anywhere with some of the best announcers in the biz. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest, the governing body for the race, also offers an official video stream in an app for $9.99. For a really low-tech solution, the official Twitter is another choice. Brennan is keeping his list updated with coverage changes. You can also check out and download the spotter's guide (from Nissan) in the gallery above. Enjoy this year's race. If you miss anything, don't worry; expect a full report from Autoblog. In fact, editor-in-chief Mike Austin is attending Le Mans this year, so follow him on Twitter for on-the-fly impressions.
