1998 4Runner SR5 4X4...4 Cylinder...171,123 miles...Automatic
Truck was purchased for girlfriend in January. We bought a newer vehicle since then, so it's no longer needed. Truck runs great. It's a difficult to find 4 cylinder truck- no need for timing belts as in the common V6...Better on gas!
Body- Has 2 small rust spots on hood (see pic). A few small dents. Overall very good condition for a 1998.
Interior - Average condition. Could use a good cleaning. Drivers side rear door window switch does not work from drivers control, but works from rear control. Included in glove box is a switch to replace it with.
Tires- 70-75% thread left on them. Recently balanced
Transmission - Works great, no hard shifting or burnt fluid
4X4- Works great. Manual shift 4 wheel drive, not automatic
Engine- 4 Cylinder. Runs great, no noises... New Battery. Does leak a minimal amount of oil (possibly from oil pan gasket, but not certain) Have new spark plugs, wires, and 2 coils in the boxes to be installed.
Brakes- Front pads were replaced in Jan. Have new front rotors, not yet installed, for the truck. Pedal is still slightly soft. May need rear brakes, but have not inspected.
Security- Truck has an alarm with remote start. Should be disconnected or re-wired to avoid battery drain.
Truck was bought in January and trailered here in July. Has sat in driveway since. Need the space for our other vehicles. Price is firm at $3000- all additional parts ( 2 front rotors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and 2 ignition coils - valued at $300) are included in price.
Vehicle is sold AS IS, WHERE IS - no warranties apply

Toyota close to licensing deal with BMW for fuel cell technology
Wed, 23 Jan 2013For over a year now, we've been hearing about a potential partnership between Toyota and BMW on everything from sports cars to lithium-ion batteries, but one of the first cooperative projects between these two automakers could bring Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology to a BMW vehicle. Reuters is reporting that an announcement is likely to be made as soon as later this week regarding a BMW fuel cell vehicle that could be in production by 2020 with a prototype running around by 2015.
The last we heard of Toyota's fuel cell technology, it was in the FCV-R Concept that we saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, but there is no word how far along in development this system is. If it does come to fruition, such a vehicle for BMW would build on the automaker's commitment to hydrogen that started with the Hydrogen 7, which unlike a fuel cell vehicle, simply ran on hydrogen fuel rather than converting it to electricity for use in motors. We're definitely interested where this Toyota/BMW tie up could be headed.
Toyota fills in details about its future design direction and global platform
Fri, 25 Oct 2013
"In the future, out of 100 customers, we want to excite ten of them instead of not offending all 100."
Almost all of the details about the Toyota New Group Architecture (TNGA) strategy have come out since the initiative was first reported on in March of this year, but Autoblog did learn a few new things about it on a recent trip to Japan. Probably the second-most important detail is that each new segment platform will be based around a common hip point to create an "optimal driving position architecture."
Toyota temporarily idles pair of Indian plants due to labor unrest
Thu, 20 Mar 2014The Detroit News reported today that Toyota will restart production at two Indian plants, following a shutdown on Monday.
Factory labor, management and police in Asia engage in the kind of violent altercations that we're not used to, having almost entirely walked away from the overtly brutal relations epitomized by the Pinkerton Detective Agency and the Flint Sit-Down Strike. In India, a plant owned by a Ford transmission supplier plant was shut down in 2009 after incidents between workers and armed men around the same time as Ssangyong workers occupied a factory in South Korea, in 2012 Suzuki Maruti workers rioted over wages around the same time upset employees beat a ceramics factory president to death in retaliation for a labor leader's killing.
Toyota is the latest to company trying to avoid that road. The Detroit Free Press reported earlier this week that it shut down two plants in India after 11 months of acrimonious wage negotiations and arbitration have gone nowhere. Toyota said the plant workers in Bidadi, near Bangalore, had deliberately stopped production at times over the past 45 days and threatened management. The workers said they wanted their wages raised by an amount already agreed to by management, but that management had reneged; news reports weren't clear on the amount, some saying nearly 10,000 rupees ($165 US) more per month, another saying 4,000 rupees ($65 US), but reports agree that Toyota has said it will only go as high as 3,050 rupees ($50 US).
