I decided a wanted to build a 1st gen 4runner and this is what I created.  I wanted a rust free, stock, clean 4runner. I found what I was looking for here on ebay. It was an 89 4runner, 250k, perfect interior, NO RUST ANYWHERE! , A/C works perfect , unmalested, came with a soft top. I didnt care about the miles because I wanted a fresh motor. I paid 4500 for it and had it shipped to me from Maryland. So then I was on the hunt for a brand new 22re. I found one in NY that was completely rebuilt and still rapped up in storage. I paid 1200 for it. Got it home and started talking apart the truck. I took my time doing the swap and did everything correctly. Bought a brand new red top optima battery 250$. After Market headers 300$. and other small parts. I did the correct break in on the motor. 500 miles, oil change,1500 mile, oil change, still not at next 3000 miles. GETS 20MPG! The check engine light is on right now for the mass airflow sensor. Havnt gotten around to getting a new one yet. So thats the motor. Then I wanted tires. I bought brand new Goodyear wrangler Duratracs. 285/75r16. so about 33 inches tall 11.5 wide. On brand new alloy rims. 1400$. I put in 2 inch Ball joint spacers in the front. And Add a leafs and the ZUK mod in the back.250$ Then bought a trail gear rear bumper 300$ Then decided to regear for the larger tires. So I bought brand new 4.88s front and rear 500$ plus another 500 to get them professionally  installed. Also i put a brand new Detroit tru trac locker in the front 500$. So thats the suspension. Put a brand new deck, subwoofer, alpine amp and 2 6 inch speakers in 900$ Also put a sr5 gauge cluster in 100$ Also came with a 600$ Soft top which is awesome in the summer. New exhaust.

When I started the build I wanted a truck to last me the next 20 years and be bullet proof, small lift with 33s, and rides nice on the road. Thats exactly what this 4runner does. It rides perfectly and starts up every time. I have atleast 11,000 into it.

WHAT IT NEEDS.
E brake doesnt work because the rear passenger side brake needs work.
small manifold leak because its missing a stud
about a 3 inch whole in drivers side bed panel
Check engine light is on like I said for Mass Airflow sensor

THIS IS AN EARLY BIRD SPECIAL> In a few weeks I will be fixing all these problems and will repost this truck for a lot more money. I don't have that much time so I'd like to sell it now but if I don't get the amount I want I will repost for what its really worth after I fix these small issues. This is a great 4x4 truck, 20mpg, geared right for the tires. Not to lifted. Just the perfect 4runner.

Txt 413-884-2814 for more pics or specific questions. Im looking for 8,000. If it doesn't sell and I fix the issues ill be asking 10,000 on the repost.

Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007

Sat, 21 Sep 2013

Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.

Nissan, Toyota offering payment deferments to people affected by government shutdown

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

Two weeks into the budget-related government shutdown and it sounds like some progress is finally being made, but that doesn't really help furloughed government employees pay their bills. To help out a little, Nissan and Toyota are joining Hyundai with offering payment deferments to current owners and lessees.
In a release, a Nissan spokesperson said the company is "sympathetic to any of our customers who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances - many times outside of their control."
Both Japanese automakers are allowing payment extensions of up to 90 days without penalties or fees. Unlike the Hyundai Assurance Plan, though, it doesn't seem like the Nissan or Toyota assistance will be extended to those who are still in the buying process. Scroll down for press releases from both companies about their respective payment deferment programs.

Toyota offered $146.5 million to build Lexus ES in Kentucky

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Toyota posted a media advisory yesterday saying that Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota, and Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America, would be making a production announcement tomorrow in New York City, and Automotive News reports that the automaker will be announcing a plan to domestically produce the Lexus ES. According to the report, numerous plants are competing to build the ES in North America, and the State of Kentucky has offered the automaker up to $146.5 million to build the luxury sedan at the Georgetown, KY assembly plant.
If Georgetown gets the ES, which has been built in Japan since its debut in 1989, it would be built alongside the Toyota Camry, which is somewhat ironic since in our review of the 2013 Lexus ES350, we wrote that this ES finally says "goodbye to its Camry roots." In order to get the whole amount offered, the article states that Toyota would have to invest $531.2 million and hire 570 full-time workers at the plant, which doesn't sound all that unreasonable since the plant would require an additional 50,000 units of annual production, not to mention the fact that the Georgetown facility is already at its capacity for building the Camry.
