This 85 4Runner is from out west and has very minimal rust. I purchased this to fix-up and use for summer cruising. I have since realized I really don't need it. I have other tools and equipment I need worse than a toy. I purchased the truck non running and have replaced the transmission, exhaust, and rebuilt the motor with new rings, bearings and exhaust valves. The motor was all within factory specs so it is standard bore and bearing sizes, just a quick hone in the cylinders. I went this route since the motor was in factory spec otherwise I would have had it machined or would of replaced it. I'm not going to waste my time on junk. This runs through all 5 gears and reverse fine no grinding or bad noises. Transfercase and 4wd all work as they should. I used them in the snow. The tires are 31x10.5x15 Super Swampers on American Racing wheels. Tires are worn but still have some life in them. There is no radio. The factory harness appears to be intact not hacked up by some punk. It does need a windshield and has some bumps and bruises that can be seen in the pictures. I have the sheet metal to repair the damage below the driverside tail light. This is a good start for a restoration, turning into an offroad beast or daily driver. The rust is only on the outer quarter panel, all the inner structure is real nice. The wheel well trim had to be the cause of the rust. This truck isn't perfect but then again it isn't priced like a perfect truck either. I love these old straight axle 4Runners but at this time I have greater needs/wants. I am looking for skid steer loader, plasma cutter, surface grinder, machine shop size mill, lathe (no table top), CNC, quality tools, Lexus Gs, 10,000 trailer, things that go boom, etc. Let me know what you have. Make me an offer. Worst I can say is no. I would be willing to purchase someones item of equal, greater or lesser value if they purchase my 4Runner. I can assist in shipping, possibly deliver. I will not handle the shipping. I will help with loading and whatever the shipper needs. I would be willing to possibly deliver for an agreed price before the end of the auction. Please contact me before bidding about shipping, please do not assume we agree.I would be willing to hold this if someone that is waiting for their taxes if a not refundable deposit is made. Please contact me with your intentions if this plan seem desireable. Again please do not assume. Please feel free to ask any questions or come inspect/drive. Feel free to call me at `309-738-six741

Redesigned 2014 Toyota Tundra spied testing in Canada
Tue, 29 Jan 2013When Toyota first announced that it would be bringing the 2014 Tundra pickup to next month's Chicago Auto Show, we weren't quite sure if the truck would fall into the "all-new" or "refreshed" category. After seeing this latest set of spy shots, we're striking "all-new" from the record, but the enhancements do appear to be more than just a simple nip/tuck.
While the overall shape and greenhouse haven't really changed, heavy cladding found on the front fascia suggests that a totally redesigned nose is in store, with a fully reworked grille flanked by new headlamps. Smaller styling details are hidden by the big panels of camouflage, but we anticipate a few minor tweaks to the rest of the pickup's design when all that black tape finally comes off.
Mum's the word on powertrain enhancements (if any), as well as any changes that have been made to the chassis. But with the updated 2013 Ram 1500 already on the street, the recent unveiling of the updated 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, and a preview of what's to come from the likes of Ford, we certainly hope Toyota has injected enough new blood into its 2014 model year pickup to keep it competitive in this American-dominated segment. We'll know for sure come Chicago.
Lightweight Toyota GT86 spotted on Nordschleife with carbon panels, upgraded aero
Tue, 24 Jun 2014We've seen (and frankly reported on) so many rumors of more powerful and performance-focused versions of the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S at this point that haven't materialized that, at this point, we're almost tired of them. Almost. But what we have here was enough to pique our jaded interests as only a carbon-bodied sports car on the Nürburgring could do.
What we're looking at is, well, we don't quite know, to tell you the truth. What we can tell is that it's a Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S for us) wearing new wheels and a carbon-fiber hood, roof, racing-spec rear wing and subtle lip spoiler. The vents in the hood indicate that the prototype in question could be packing an upgraded engine to go with the lighter body panels and upgraded aero, and the interior (at least as far as we can see) looks pretty well stripped out.
The right-hand drive configuration tells us this is either destined for former territories of the British Empire or for the racetrack. Considering the ride height, full glass and apparent lack of roll cage, our money's on this prototype is being developed for the Japanese Domestic Market, where Toyota badges the sports car simply as the 86. We can always hope, though, that some version makes it into Scion showrooms in North America... we just won't get our hopes up too high.
HQ move based on study, not pitch from Gov. Perry, Toyota says
Tue, 29 Apr 2014Toyota's surprising announcement on Monday that it will move its North American headquarters from Torrance, CA location to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX is allegedly not due to any political wrangling from the state's Republican governor, Rick Perry.
Perry (above) has been up front in his aggressive pursuit of businesses and jobs for Texas, traveling to California, Missouri, Illinois and New York to tempt corporations to his state. And it's not just about the promise of much lower taxes, a Perry spokesman reminds Automotive News that the state boasts, "a workforce that is skilled and ready to do any job."
For his part, Jim Lentz, Toyota's North American CEO said Plano was chosen through an internal process, with the location helped by its proximity to the company's massive pickup factory in San Antonio rather than any campaigning from the governor.
