Suzuki Samarai 1986 Tin Top Clean Car on 2040-cars
Signal Mountain, Tennessee, United States
|
Purchased
from Extreme Zuks in Florida for $6700, and have installed high torque engine by
Extreme Zuks Off Road $2400. (1.3 Flat
top pistons, .040 over, new Weber Carb, new rebuilt transmission, new clutch,
new front end seals in the bearings and new bearings in the rear axles,-the car
is driven by my son and we live on a mountain and we wanted higher torque and
hp for driving up and down Signal Mountain TN).
Installed uphostered seats that are
covered in nice black cloth(seat covers have been on since we did the seats) recovered
and installed rear seat. New Carpet/ Paint is less than a year old. Installed
custom headliner with insulation to reduce heat in the summer, this really
looks good in a tin top. Has the customer shifter knobs on both shifters from Low Range Off-Road. Window cranks, door glass rubbers, and inside
and outside handles are new. Installed the windshield wiper blade support
plates as a preventative measure since these are a stress point, while doing
that we installed a new wiper motor behind the dash and insulated and re-taped
to factory specs all the AC hoses and connecting pipes inside the dash. New Radiator and Hoses. Heater works great(Heater Core and Dash
removed and cleaned, all dash lights work and tac works great from Extreme Zuks
Off road. Exhaust Header from Extreme Zuks.
Samurai has a great sound system by Pioneer that has 6 speakers and is
wired for and additional amp/subs for the back, the sound system sounds great. Installed factory AC on this car and it works
great, blows very cold air and we live where it gets near 100 in the summer and
it provides good AC. Rims have just been powder coated white to original color. New Hankook Optimo tires with less than 1000
miles on them. New brakes and rotors have less than 2000 miles on front and
back. He has recently gone to college
and has put most of his money into another daily driver Sammy and needs the
money. This will be a great vehicle for some lucky person, its eye appeal
is unmatched. This car has 2 defects
that have not been fixed, there is a small dash crack above the digital clock
installed in the dash, and there is a slight and I mean slight leak on the rear
transfer case back seal, I have only added about a half a pint in the last year
it was ran and I have the seal I have just not replaced it as it has not been
an issue. I have always used 50/50 Lucas Oil additive and differential lube in the transmission, transfer case, and front and
rear differentials/pumpkin, and have changed this every 6 months since we had
the car, change oil one a month, I do this on all 3 of my Samarai's I have had. This
will be a great vehicle for some lucky person, its eye appeal is unmatched, it
would make for a great car for a daily driver, it gets about 25-32 miles per
gallon and has passed all emissions testing in TN which is a tough place to
pass. New Catalytic converter and
exhaust system with muffler installed also. |

Japan could consolidate to three automakers by 2020
Thu, Feb 11 2016Sergio Marchionne might see his dream of big mergers in the auto industry become a reality, and an analyst thinks Japan is a likely place for consolidation to happen. Takaki Nakanishi from Jefferies Group LLC tells Bloomberg the country's car market could combine to just three or fewer major players by 2020, from seven today. "To have one or two carmakers in a country is not only natural, but also helpful to their competitiveness," Nakanishi told Bloomberg. "Japan has just too many and the resources have been too spread out. It's a natural trend to consolidate and reduce some of the wasted resources." Nakanishi's argument echoes Marchionne's reasons to push for a merger between FCA and General Motors. Automakers spend billions on research and development, but their competitors also invest money to create the same solutions. Consolidating could conceivably put that R&D money into new avenues. "In today's global marketplace, it is increasingly difficult for automakers to compete in lower volume segments like sports cars, hydrogen fuel cells, or electrified vehicles on their own," Ed Kim, vice president of Industry Analysis at AutoPacific, told Autoblog. Even without mergers, these are the areas where Japanese automakers already have partners for development. Kim cited examples like Toyota and Subaru's work on the BRZ and FR-S and its collaboration with BMW on a forthcoming sports car. Honda and GM have also reportedly deepened their cooperation on green car tech. After Toyota's recent buyout of previous partner Daihatsu, Nakanishi agrees with rumors that the automotive giant could next pursue Suzuki. He sees them like a courting couple. "For Suzuki, it's like they're just starting to exchange diaries and have yet to hold hands. When Toyota's starts to hold 5 percent of Suzuki's shares, this will be like finally touching fingertips," Nakanishi told Bloomberg. "I absolutely do believe that we are not finished seeing consolidation in Japan," Kim told Autoblog. Rising development costs to meet tougher emissions regulations make it hard for minor players in the market to remain competitive. "The smaller automakers like Suzuki, Mazda, and Mitsubishi are challenged to make it on their own in the global marketplace. Consolidation for them may be inevitable." Related Video:
Suzuki brought a retro hybrid coupe and an autonomous van concept to Tokyo Motor Show
Tue, Oct 1 2019Update: More photos and details of these Suzuki concepts have surfaced since their official reveal at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. Turns out, the Waku Spo coupe can also be a wagon. We love it. When you swap in the wagon rear end, the rear seat slides back and automatically reclines. All of a sudden, the sporty coupe has turned into a somewhat roomy wagon kei car. Its interior features a fully digital dash that will actually simulate wood grain on the passenger side when in the Normal drive mode. When sport mode is selected, the "wood grain" transforms into a massive screen of dials and vehicle information. The Suzuki Hanare is the van pictured in the gallery and further below. Its drive wheels feature in-wheel electric motors, and the interior is all about customization. The folks in Suzuki's press photos look happy to be hanging out by their Hanares, and we think we'd be pretty happy too. One of the vans has a bar; the other has a massive screen with a map, and the middle van is full of storage for outdoor activity supplies. Lastly, Suzuki showed us the Hustler Concept. It's essentially just a Hustler made to look like an off-road kei car. We're picking up the Jimny vibes Suzuki is laying down. It's wonderfully boxy and features a bevy of neat accessories. Suzuki is celebrating its 100th anniversary at this year's Tokyo Motor Show. To mark the occasion, the company has created two unique concepts that look to the past for style, and the future for powertrain and use cases. One is called the Waku Spo, and the other is the Hanare. The Waku Spo is pictured above, and it's a plug-in hybrid with styling rooted in '60s Japanese cars. It's simple and squared off save for the wide fender flares and charming round headlights. There are dashes of chrome trim around the car and two-tone paint. The fender-mounted rearview cameras are a high-tech twist on a classic Japanese car feature. But if this design doesn't appeal to you, Suzuki says body and interior parts can be quickly switched out so each driver can have a car that's personalized to their tastes. While the Waku Spo is a more traditional, driver-oriented car, the Hanare is more of an autonomous pod. According to Suzuki, Hanare translates to "cottage" and the theme of the van is to be your home away from home. It's meant to be a mobile room to do whatever you want. It also looks like it's intended to be private and secluded, as the only windows are slender pieces that wrap around the roof.
