This is a good little off road beast but it is far from perfect. I'll do my best to be up front with all known issues, just keep in mind that this is a 1988 off road vehicle and was used as such. It does have some rust and dents and oil leaks. The worst of the dents is in the drivers side rocker where a deer thought he had the right of way. The drivers seat has some tears in it and the tach don't work because of the MSD ignition but I do have an after market one that goes with it, you have to install it. This vehicle has been highly modified and I'll try to list them all. The engine is the stock 1.3, the head has been rebuilt and a new isky cam was installed less than 1000 miles ago. It has a new header with full exhaust. New 8mm plug wires and MSD ignition and coil, 105 amp GM alternator, Harley Davidson CV carb with custom built intake (it does start good in cold weather). It does need a pan gasket and I'm gonna try to do that in the next few days. It's been lifted about 8 inches or so and has 4.57 gears in both diffs and rides on 33 X 16 tires. Spidertrax 1 inch wheel spacers, trail tough shackles in the rear, BMW high steer mod, and Zor "Snatch" t-case mount. It has the doorless mod and has grenade door handles and shifter knobs. It has new aftermarket bumpers front and rear with l.e.d lights, Bushwacker 6 inch flares, roof rack with 100 watt lights and a hi-lift jack mounted on the front bumper. Inside it has diamond plate panels, 5 way harnesses, Tracker steering wheel, and an aftermarket stereo with aux input. I also have various parts that go with it, extra t-case, tranny,rear diff with 4.57 gears, mini spool and 1.6 Tracker engine. The odometer is showing 16371 miles but i know its been turned over. Remembering Suzuki of America... in commercials
Wed, 07 Nov 2012American Suzuki Motors is leaving us, but as long as the lights are on at YouTube, its commercials will stay behind to remind of the times we shared. We dug up nine commercials - sort of like a Time Life infomercial for an entire brand - and among the starring actors are the X-90 improving the 90s with the help of a Pez dispenser, the Peter Pan-ish Sidekick, Optimus Prime getting his pipes all smoked up over the 1987 Samurai and an XL7 that would have sold in the millions if its commercial were even half true.
We've also included a remarkably oddball eight-minute featurette/commercial about a giant Suzuki Swift. You'll find the retrospective in the videos below. Enjoy.
Court approves Suzuki bankruptcy plan
Fri, 05 Apr 2013Suzuki has won approval for its Chapter 11 plan to stop selling cars in the US and concentrate instead on the company's powersports products. Judge Scott C. Clarkson of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California approved the plan after the company's creditors agreed to the conditions.
Suzuki will now sell its motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions to the newly minted Suzuki Motor of America subsidiary under the Suzuki name. The new company will be wholly owned by Suzuki Motor Company. This is the final piece of the company's restructuring puzzle.
The company says it will now be able to grow its powersports businesses here in the US and also provide auto parts and service to current Suzuki owners through what's left of the company's dealer network. You can check out the brief press release on the bankruptcy plan below.
This is the facelifted Suzuki SX4 that we won't get
Tue, 05 Feb 2013The car you see above is, according to China Car Times, the facelifted Suzuki SX4 crossover. We've always had a soft spot for the SX4, so the fact that it's finally getting a significant update makes us a wee bit sad - after all, Suzuki just announced late last year that it's leaving the US market, so we'll never get this upgraded little 'ute on our shores.
Changes we can see include aggressively resculpted lighting units, interesting mold lines on the front bumper cap, redesigned air intakes and unique trim fillets on the doors.
At least we can take solace in the fact that there apparently aren't any significant alterations under the new bodywork, so our crop of used SX4s should be just as capable out on the road. In China, Suzuki's 1.6- and 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines are expected to carry over to the new year, along with the current model's CVT and manual drivelines.
