1996 Subaru Legacy Factory RHD Postal Wagon READ FULL DESCRIPTION Salvage Title (please see history) Sold AS IS Buyer responsible for all transport fees and arrangements or PICK UP Subaru is running, starts right up. Has 236,000 original miles. Transmission is working. Comes with 4 extra tires and rims, some tread left, various condition. Tires on car will pass inspection. All lights, signals, radio (antenna broken). power windows, air, are in working order. Replaced the brakes (every 4 months) and rotors and believe they are still good. All 4 wheel bearings have been replaced within the last 2 years. Have replaced many parts and have most history records and receipts. Needs inspection. I have not had it on the road since last fall, I bought a new jeep for the route. The reason I stopped driving it was it sometimes overheat, not all the time. Replaced thermostat but still overheated then the heat would not work. The next day everything was fine. Not sure why it would only do it occasionally. Have had mechanics tell me it could be head gasket and quoted me about 600.00 to do the job if that's what it was, or could be the heater core but I have not had it looked at. Has usual oil drips from age. Check engine light is on, have replaced 02 sensor about a year ago. About 1 1/2 years ago I had some of the rust repaired cost me 800.00 and has passed inspection but as you can see in photos it still has some rust, some of it from this past winter and just sitting. Also paint is peeling on hood and has some bubbling. Drivers door has scratches from mailbox doors as seen in photo. The front right control arm bushings are worn out, my husband was going to replace them and I was going to use it as a spare vehicle but we decided just to sell the car. So it is being sold AS IS, no warranty. Buyer bears expense of repairing any defects that may exist or that may occur in the vehicle. Climb to the Clouds returning thanks to Subaru title sponsorship [w/video]
Wed, 31 Jul 2013The Mt. Washington Hillclimb, otherwise known as the Climb to the Clouds, hasn't been done since 2011. That year, Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins set a new record for the event first held in 1904, running the 7.6-mile vertiginous course in 6:11.54. The race will be return in 2014 with the help of that very carmaker, Subaru of America having stepped in to the title sponsor role for what will be the Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb.
Taking place from June 26-29, 75 modern and vintage cars will spend three days racing up the 6,288-foot-high mountain. It's not as long nor as high as Pikes Peak, but it does have something that the Colorado competition doesn't: gravel; about 13 percent of the Mt. Washington Carriage Road still hasn't been paved.
If you want to know what a record-breaking run up the northeast's highest peak looks like, check out Higgins behind the wheel in the video below.
Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.
Subaru EyeSight: Autoblog Technology of the Year finalist
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Peering out of the top of the windshield of a growing number of Subaru models, looking like a pair of cyborg eyes on either side of the car's rearview mirror, are twin cameras that make up the visible portion of Subaru's high-tech EyeSight system. For 2015, the stereoscopic camera-based system is available on the Forester, Legacy, Impreza and Outback.
These cameras allow Subaru to equip its vehicles with such safety and convenience features as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and pre-collision braking that can slow the car automatically if an imminent accident is detected, even bringing the vehicle to a complete stop.
Subaru has offered EyeSight technology on its vehicles in the United States since the 2013 model year. Newly upgraded for 2015, EyeSight's smaller cameras now see in color and are capable of scanning further ahead and over a wider swath, which means an EyeSight-equipped car will now be able to respond more quickly. That means a higher chance of accident avoidance for 2015, something everyone on the road will surely appreciate.
