Up for sale my girlfriend's 2008 Scion tC RS 4.0

We originally bought the car with 76,000 miles on it a little over a year ago in Long Island, NY and brought it back to Maine. We absolutely fell in love with Scion brand and now currently own two of them (2012 Scion tC). We were hoping to keep the car for a few years but due to excessive travel to work (80 miles a day, five times per week!), we have put on more then 20,000 miles in less then a year. This is the only reason why we are now selling our baby.

As of April 19, 2013, this is the only RS 4.0 for sale on eBay! This is #1559 of 2300 ever built. To my knowledge, there has been only two cars (of non-luxury brands) to feature all-Alcantara interior upholstery ever made - 2007 Scion tC RS 3.0 and 2008 Scion tC RS 4.0. The other features of RS 4.0 include:
  • Exclusive Galactic Flint Mica exterior paint
  • DAMD full body kit with exclusive badging on both sides of the car (see picture below)
  • Exclusive upper grill made only for RS 4.0
  • Exclusive black leather and dark wood RAZO shift knob
  • Individually numbered badge in the middle of the dashboard "SCION tC / Release Series 4.0 / 1559 of 2300" (see picture below)

The car is perfect. We are the second owners and have been servicing the car in Scion dealership ever since we bought it in Long Island. All of almost 98,000 miles are highway miles and only slightly seen on the car. Beautiful, one of a kind Flint Mica paint is in perfect condition with minor scratches, which are normal for a 5 year old car. Mechanically the car is absolutely perfect. It has brand new high performance Kumho Ecsta tires, which make the car ride soft and quiet. It has been religiously serviced in local Scion dealership every 5,000k. All the paperwork will be provided upon the purchase. The car has been professionally tinted with 35% tint all around and has lifetime warranty with all provided paperwork. It also has some additional minor exterior enhancements like shorty Honda antenna, Scion fuel door vinyl decal, Bosch windshield wipers, and Scion real carbon fiber bi-pillar appliqu'e. Everything else is stock and has never been modded.

As for the features, car has:
  • Full-glass panoramic roof with slide/open sun roof options
  • Pioneer in-dash Scion stereo with 6 speakers features more than 160 watt of powerful sound
  • Power locks and mirrors, power one-click windows, keyless entry
  • Cruise control, digital A/C with outside temperature view option (for some reason not available on 2011 and up models)
  • iPod plug-in with cable and controls via head unit
  • FWD, four-cylinder DOHC engine, 161 hp @ 6000rpm; 162 ft-lbs. @ 4000rpm; automatic 4-speed transmission

The car is in exceptional condition and will be a great buy for people who love Scion brand like we do, or for someone who wants a fun little hatchback that gets great mpg (up to 30MPG on highway).

This is the third car I am selling on eBay and I encourage you to look up my previous listings to see how satisfied my previous buyers were. This is an auction based listing with "Buy it Now" option. I do have a reserve set, so if you would like to make private sale please contact me to make arrangements.

If you have any questions about the car please contact me via eBay and I will be happy to respond to you in a timely manner.
PLEASE NOTE: the car is a daily driver so the actual mileage will differ from the mileage listed.

Incrementally better than ever | 2017 Toyota 86 First Drive

Tue, Oct 4 2016

We'd love to tell you that the incremental upgrades bestowed upon Toyota's rear-wheel-drive coupe as it made its transition from Scion FR-S to Toyota 86 have transformed it into a perfect sportscar. If only a few more horsepower, shorter rear-end gearing, and tiny aero updates were enough to quell all the complaints that enthusiasts have leveled at the machine since the platform first hit the road in 2012, this review would have been so much more satisfying to write. Sadly, that's not the case. Don't get us wrong. The 86 is still extremely fun to toss around a twisty road. The chassis is impressively balanced, the steering is direct, and the shifter is sweet. Sorry to impart upon you this well-worn trope, but the old adage that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow is, in this case, completely accurate. The 2017 Toyota 86 is nothing if not entertaining. But it's not completely new. It hasn't been transformed. It is, in the end, the same as it ever was. It will take about three minutes of your time to watch the videos below, in which we cover pretty much everything that's new for the 2017 Toyota 86. Toyota 86s equipped with manual transmissions get a five-pony boost to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Automatic models soldier forth with a carryover 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 200 hp and 151 lb-ft. Apparently, more than half of Scion FR-S buyers chose the automatic. That's unfortunate, as it drains a good deal of the fun out of the 86 experience. Choose the manual and you'll be rewarded with an easy clutch and a rewarding short-throw shifter. And, as we said, five more ponies, courtesy of intake and exhaust tweaks and the polishing of some internal engine components. The only upside to the automatic is improved fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. Manual 86s are EPA-rated at 21/28. Along with the small bump in power, the 2017 86 gets a 4.3:1 rear-end gear ratio in lieu of the old 4.1:1 unit. That ought to translate into a small improvement in acceleration that really only matters on paper. In the real world, on actual roads, the difference is negligible. To eke the most out of the 86, you have to constantly work the shifter and keep the engine north of 5,000 rpm. It's still not particularly quick, but it's definitely fun. There's plenty of noise inside the 86, from the wind, the road, and the engine.

Nine cars we wish were convertibles

Thu, Apr 16 2015

The snow has melted, the sun is shining, and the days are getting longer. At the Autoblog Detroit office we feel like our winter hibernation is finally over. And with warmer temperatures come visions of opening up a convertible roof and cruising. You know, just turn up the bass and let the Alpine blast. There are plenty of droptops on sale in the US, and more on the way (like the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata). That said, we always want more. More! More! More! In that spirit, we cooked up a list of nine cars aren't currently sold as convertible, but ought to be. Check out our picks, below. Summer's just around the corner. Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S In some parallel universe, this car actually happened. Toyota showed us a FT 86 Convertible concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, and we immediately started licking our chops over the thought of a rear-wheel-drive convertible based on the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S twins. These days, the MX-5 Miata is our only option for affordable roadster fun. A competitor to the Mazda seems like a no-brainer to us, especially since we have naught but good to say about the BRZ/FR-S as-is. Unfortunately in our present timeline, this car is as likely for production as a BRZ STI. Which is to say, not very. Dang. Lexus RC F Unlike the FR-S, a convertible from Toyota's luxury division might actually see the light of day. The current IS convertible is about to be phased out, and the Lexus LF-C2 concept from the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show is really a thinly veiled look at a possible RC convertible. A droptop RC would be plenty good, but let's reach for the starts. What we really want is to run topless in an RC F, complete with that powerful, loud, 5.0-liter V8 engine. Lexus says the RC F is a true competitor to the BMW M4. If that's true, it only makes sense for Lexus to mimic the Germans and offer its performance coupe in a folding hardtop form. Maybach Landaulet Maybach is bach back, recast as an upper crust trim level for Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is seriously awesome, and more luxurious than a trip to the spa. But why not go a step into the truly ridiculous levels of extravagence and bring back that open-top Landaulet? We think your local princess will love this idea, and with better S-Class bones underneath, Jeeves will have a pretty enjoyable ship to steer, too. Besides, with that slick new Mercedes design language, a Landaulet redux wouldn't be nearly as hideous as the old model, pictured here.

Scion FR-S may be getting supercharger kit from TRD

Mon, 05 Nov 2012

The Scion FR-S was just named the Hottest Sport Compact at the 2012 SEMA Show, and Toyota Racing Development (TRD) is apparently looking to make this car a little hotter. According to Car and Driver, TRD is close to coming up with a supercharger to fit to the car's 2.0-liter flat-four engine in order to squeeze out a little more performance. Currently, the FR-S produces 200 horsepower, but there's no guessing how much a supercharger could improve this figure.
With Subaru seemingly hard at work on a new turbo engine for the BRZ and even possibly a BRZ STI model, it is only logical for a force-fed FR-S to be in the works as well. Surprisingly, though, the report says that supercharger would be unique to the FR-S, but since the Scion and Subaru BRZ are mechanically identical, it isn't clear how this would be accomplished. TRD already offers plenty of upgrades for the FR-S such as exhaust, brake and suspension kits, and it offers a handful of superchargers for other models including the 5.7-liter V8 used in the Toyota Tundra and the 4.0-liter V6 used in the Tacoma.
