First Off... This is a original 1986  California 928 4 cam 32 Valve engine car  .  Purchased from a drug seizure Sherriff Dept auction in 2006 and the reason the interior was removed in the first place ( marijuana smell ). Absolutely no smell any longer.

A fully modified 928 4 cam 5 liter engine car with the rare 5 speed manual transaxle.  A $2000 certified NASCAR type cage is installed . Note that the cage extends into the door cavities for the ultimate in side and roll over protection for the driver.   There is no interior in this car except for the Kirkey driver seat and the instrument cluster and fuse/relay board. No heater/AC,  to shave weight. Pop up headlights and their motors were removed and replaced by fiberglass blank outs ( see note below). Battery box now in passenger seat position but factory box in the rear and it's wiring is all still there. Race box can be removed fairly easily.    It is estimated to be 600 lbs lighter than a factory S4.  Hollow spoke twist alloys with Porsche cup slicks mounted. The massive black brembo calipers and drilled rotors to slow you from the 180 mph speed are all there.  A custom beautiful mandrel bent slip joint fitted dual pipe  large diameter exhaust system with dual DTM tips is mounted.  Sounds incredible ( can send a short video file with sound of the car running if requested ). Headlight hole fiberglass blank outs included.  This is a running driving car but in it's current form is too modified to be street legal ( now that I have headlights for it it can fairly easily be made road legal again ).  This model was the worlds fastest production car in the mid eighties.  They are dead stable at 150 mph plus.  I bought it to race the Silver State Classic open road race in N. Nevada .  Now let something like that be your passion.  Cheapest way to get into the upper echelon of production road racing.  The wing is not some add on kids thing. Built for downforce specifically for this chassis. This car was built January of 1986 with certifications for California with ZERO rust.  Just surface rust on the cage from being in my garage and other storage for a while.  Slicks are old and would need to be changed.  Car runs and drives but needs some minor finishing and trimming ( like painting the cage after race officials looking at the welds ) and installing polycarbonate for the rear windows.  Only the OEM windshield is installed. Again.. more weight savings.  This is a sunroof  car but I'm adding a non sunroof clip ( complete roof with pillars ) in case your sanctioning body doesn't like the hole there. Car in all pictures other than the outside picture after getting a bath is dusty.  Just sitting for a while always inside.  Fresh fuel added recently after draining old fuel.  Original paint can clean up nicely. I have all the required paperwork to legally register this car in any state you wish ( once it's got some lights again ) from the auction.  In California I would simply submit the docs and pay the fees to get a title issued again. In other words I have legal ownership that can be transferred to anyone else for this car.

Entire car has been looked over by pro's and there is no evidence of any accident damage.  Car Fax supports this.  Only the front and rear fascia's have been changed over to the more aero later model types.  Car was under dealer lease/maintenance ownership for the first 15 years of it's life.

Engine has been rebuilt by a reputable shop in the Bay Area of California and has 45k miles since being rebuilt.

Right rear wheel bearing is worn but entire replacement hub/rotor included with car

I recently bought the headlights, the linkages and the motor drive so with very little work this can be made street legal again.  Talk about a Autobahn burner.

Engine and trans numbers as follows:   Engine M28/43

                                                           Trans   28/05-119

This makes the transmission one out of an earlier car. Probably for the better gear ratios for road racing.

On the odd chance that a guy had a Honda 20 or 25 HP Four Stroke outboard engine with electric start and power trim that runs well I would entertain a $2500 credit against the purchase of this car.

I will deliver to your choice of local shipper or we can arrange me delivering the car up to 1000 miles for $2.00 per mile prepaid for purchase and delivery of course. See my feedback.  I'm honest and will answer any questions you have. Feel free to ask for more pictures.

I will not ship this car overseas.  Payment in U.S. Funds and only first party transactions.  Deposit of $500 can be made via Paypal .  Balance due in certified funds before car will be released.  Contact me for further questions.

Petrolicious finds a Porsche 356 that thrives on dirt roads

Thu, Oct 22 2015

Matt Hummel is absolutely not the typical vintage Porsche owner. Instead, his mantra is simple: "Get it running!" In the latest video from Petrolicious, hop behind the wheel of a well-loved 1956 Porsche 356 for a blast over some rutted dirt and gravel roads with a fascinating owner. When he found it, Hummel's 356 had been sitting in a barn since the late '70s, and it looked extremely rough. Despite the beat condition, he eventually decided not to just let the coupe sit anymore and used some parts that he had to get it running again. Now, the Porsche with its flaking paint and ripped interior is Hummel's favorite companion for getting lost on rural roads. While Hummel's story is fascinating, Petrolicious does a superb job on the cinematography, too. This 356 lives in some picturesque surroundings, and the video captures that scenery beautifully.

Porsche 911 driven by McQueen on Le Mans set for auction

Mon, Oct 19 2015

Another piece of Porsche memorabilia from the movie Le Mans is going up for auction with Christie's at The Exceptional Sale on Nov. 4 in Paris. This is a 1971 911 T that Steve McQueen used as his personal car during filming - it is not the 1970 911 S seen in the movie's opening sequence. It is one of the Porsches provided by two-time Le Mans winner and stunt driving double Jo Siffert. McQueen's production company CBS Solar Films bought the 911 T from Siffert, one of four 911s CBS Solar bought from the Swiss driver for use in and during filming. McQueen gifted the car to co-star and leading lady Elga Andersen. When she died in 1994 she willed it to her best friend, and the friend sold it to the current owner, who put it up for sale. None of them put the car to much use, as it has only 28,637 miles on the odometer, which is fewer than 55 miles per month for the last 44 years. The pre-sale estimate for this car is $284,000 to $397,000. By comparison, the 911 S used in the movie's opening sequence sold at auction in 2011 at Monterey for $1,375,000. In addition to being a relative bargain in that case, it comes with a scan of the original contract from Siffert to Anderson giving her the car, and a picture of McQueen and his son Chad with the coupe. Meet the new Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S

Wed, Jan 27 2016

The rumors were mostly true. Porsche had already confirmed that the Boxster and Caymans would receive a "718" appended to their badges, in honor of their famous mid-engined racecar of the 1950s and '60s, but the mechanical details were left up in the air. We were almost certain both would be powered by turbocharged flat-fours of a couple of displacements and outputs, and now we can confirm that this is the case. Porsche has revealed the official specs for the 718 Boxster, which will go on sale in Europe this April. The biggest news concerns the flat-fours. The regular 718 Boxster will get a 2.0-liter, turbocharged flat-four producing 300 hp. The 718 Boxster S will get an extra half-liter of displacement and a variable-geometry turbocharger to produce a total of 350 hp. This represents a 35 hp gain over the current Boxster and Boxster S, respectively. Porsche also claims the turbo fours improve fuel economy by around 13 percent. By the NEDC European test cycle, the 2.0-liter gets roughly 34 mpg and the 2.5 gets 32 mpg, although rest assured that EPA test results will yield different numbers than the optimistic European test. Torque gains with the new boxer fours are significant. The 2.0-liter gains 74 lb-ft of torque for a total of 280 lb-ft from 1,950 to 4,500 RPM. The 2.5 gains less, 43 lb-ft, for a total of 309 lb-ft over the same rev range. The extra torque and wide torque band make the 718 Boxster quicker to 60 mph, at least when equipped with the PDK gearbox and the Sport Chrono Package. The 2.0-liter car does the deed in 4.5 seconds, a 0.7-second improvement, and the 2.5-liter car is claimed to hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, a 0.5-second improvement. 2016 Porsche 718 Boxster View 11 Photos Inside, a new dash houses the latest Porsche Communication Management infotainment system with a touchscreen, included on all 718 Boxsters as standard – although nav is an optional extra. The buttonless, capacitive-touch center stack we just spied on the next Panamera does not make it inside the 718 Boxster, which makes do with a very similar button layout to the current car. Both cars will come with a six-speed manual as standard, which is great news, and a PDK will be optional for both. Porsche also claims to have made the electrically-assisted steering more direct, and retuned the suspension. An optional PASM package lowers the car by 0.4 inches while providing the benefits of active dampers. From a styling standpoint, this is an evolution of the current theme.
