This is an amazing car for someone looking for the Highest Quality Original Condition 1985 928 S 5spd.   However, even if your looking for a much lower priced "fixer upper" you will never restore it to this cars quality level for less money than what this car can be bought.  Classic car experts will all agree that its always best to buy the highest quality car for more money than restore a lessor car and especially in this price category and model of car.

This 1985 928S 5spd manual trans is a truly mint condition car both cosmetically and mechanically.  Its a two owner car( owner #1 25 yrs and owner #2 3 years).   Includes ALL books, maintenance records from day one!  Car is completely original with absolutely no modifications, all original stickers/decals on doors/engine bay/gas filler door, comes with custom car cover.  NEEDS NOTHING !!  Located in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ordered with spoiler delete and limited slip differential, special order Prussian Blue Paint.  There are no dings anywhere on the car.  The paint is bright with deep clear coat and original factory orange peel on all panels with exception of front bumper that was repainted by original owner fro stone chips.  Immaculate engine bay with all original stickers.

The full black leather interior is immaculate.  The leather is supple and no cracking or leather hardening on seats, bolsters, side panels, etc.  The bolster on drivers side has very slight seat belt wear only.  Carpet is excellent.  Backing on underside of drivers floor mat is failing.  The slight dash leather shrinkage about a 1/4 inch around passenger dash vent.  It is noticeable only on close inspection.  There is a minor separation of interior material on right rear quarter panel that would be easily re glued.

All books and maintenance records since day one !  Cambelt replaced at 28,112 miles and retensioned in 2012.

2010 repairs…Replaced original Boge strut/shocks with same OEM 1986 Boge updated gas shocks/struts.  Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, and Y connector for recirculating fuel vapor.

2011 repairs…Amsoil full syhthetic 15w40 oil and filter changed every 3,000 miles.  Replaced clutch slave cylinder, clutch arm nylon socket, replaced transmission fluid with Amsoil synthetic ATF

2012…Replaced engine motor mounts.  Replaced steering bushings.  Cambelt tensioned.

2013…New Bridgestone S-02 tires in April 2013 with less than a 1,000 miles on them.

The car is of preservation class concours quality.  It runs very very strong!

Porsche drivers escape this horrific VIR crash unscathed

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

There is no doubting the fact that it takes nerves of steel to be a racecar driver, but the same can also be said for motorsports photographers. Case in point: The American Le Mans Series Oak Tree Grand Prix at the Virginia International Raceway where two Porsche 911 racecars crash hard into the tire barrier, but the dedicated cameraman stays with the shot - diving away only at the last second just as the battered No. 31 car (shown above) comes to rest atop the tire barriers just feet from where he was standing.
The crash occurred when the two Porsches charged hard into a corner. Judging by the video, the white No. 48 car appears to not see the orange No. 31 and the two cars make contact, skidding off track hitting the tire barriers at a high rate of speed. Both drivers walked away from the frightening crash, but the video - posted below - shows just how bad things could have been. Hopefully the close call will serve as a lesson for the woman standing in the track marshal's post who has her back to the racing as the two cars barrel directly toward her.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
