For auction is a 1979 Porsche 9284.5 engine with 5speed manual transmission. I have owned this car for a year and have made considerable improvements .Have bought more toys and have to part with something. The car is not show quality, but a fast, fun, driver. Car starts and runs very nicely. Smooth transmission and tight suspension. No smoke or leaks. Interior in passable condition. Carpets in decent shape. Outside is a 10 footer. Some touched up chipping, but a decent finish. No extensive rusting Tires are matched Goodyear eagles with approx. 40% tread wear left. Car has current NYS inspection with a clear title. The Good New Battery New high output alternator. Superior to OE New high torque starter. Superior to OE Tune-up- New plugs, wires distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter. Rear brake pads are new with good front pads. Rear muffler replaced with aftermarket resonator and tailpipe. Has low tone growl. Not offensive but noticeable. Has new ignition cylinder and key. Engine runs well with plenty of power to get in trouble with. Has great low end torque. The Not so Good Drivers seat has no rips but has some stitching separations. Has decent looking simulated leather seat covers. Passenger seat in pretty decent shape. Rear seats have cracks along bottom cushion and are taped. These are reasonably avail. on Ebay All gauges except speedometer and clock work. Speedometer works periodically and odometer hasn't since I've owned it. Sony radio and CD player do not power up. I have never pursued repairing. Front lower ventilation grill is missing. Not terribly noticeable, also available used on Ebay. Lock knob on drivers door is missing. As stated prior this is no show car. You can drive it today and restore it as far as you want to take it. I have tried to be honest in my description. I will not ship out of country. If you don't have at least 5 feedbacks and under 89% positive. Then DON'T BID. Don't waste my time. Please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. |

Porsche celebrates 50 years of 911s with limited edition model
Tue, 04 Jun 2013Despite being 50 years old now, the Porsche 911 sure is looking good for her age. And to commemorate this milestone anniversary, Porsche has created the 911 50 Years Edition you see here, which will make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show - 50 years after the original 911 debuted at this very same expo.
What's really neat about the 50 Years Edition is that it houses a rear-wheel-drive setup inside of the wider body used for all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 and 4S models. Found at the back is the 3.8-liter flat-six from the Carrera S, upgraded with the Powerkit package that increases horsepower from 400 to 430 and includes the Sport Chrono setup. According to Porsche, hitting 60 miles per hour takes just 4.2 seconds with the seven-speed manual transmission, or 3.8 seconds with the optional dual-clutch PDK.
Visual changes include two special paint colors - a darker graphite grey and a lighter geyser grey - unique 20-inch wheels that pay homage to the original Fuchs rollers of the 1963 car, and special badging at the rear and on the door sills. Inside, there are more throwbacks to the original 911, with green labeling on the instruments, white pointer needles and silver accents. What's more, the leather seats feature a fabric insert reminiscent of the Pepita design from the '60s. Looks great to us.
2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is one mean green machine
Sat, 20 Apr 2013The entire Porsche Panamera lineup gets a refresh for the 2014 model year, and new additions to the range include two long-wheelbase models and this E-Hybrid fuel-sipper that makes its debut here at the Shanghai Motor Show. And, well, we say "fuel-sipper lightly."
Porsche has packed its hybrid Panamera with 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque, and that certainly makes for one quick sedan-hatchback-thing. Hitting 60 miles per hour will reportedly take just 5.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 167 mph. And while Porsche hasn't revealed specific powertrain details, the company says that the S E-Hybrid "improves upon the concept offered by the previous Panamera S Hybrid with a more powerful electric motor," which leads us to believe that the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine at the heart of it all still remains intact.
Fuel economy numbers (or estimates) have not been released as of this writing, but we expect to have that information closer to the car's on-sale date later this year. As for the new battery system, Porsche says that when plugged into a 240-volt charging station, it can be fully charged in just two and a half hours. When topped off, the Panamera S E-Hybrid should have an electric driving range of around 20 miles at speeds up to 84 mph, though, obviously, not at the same time.
China may surpass US as Porsche's largest market this year thanks to Cayenne
Thu, 09 Oct 2014China has already surpassed the United States as the world's largest automotive market, so it's no surprise that one day soon it will be the world's largest Porsche market.
In fact, that day may already be here, as the PRC's Porschephiles outbought their American counterparts in September. Porsche's Chinese dealers sold 4,344 cars last month to America's 3,607. Through all of 2014 so far, though, the US is still the larger market for the German brand.
"The U.S. performed very well this year, after a great year in 2013, but China is growing fast, thanks to the Cayenne which is our best seller there," Porsche's sales and marketing boss, Bernhard Maier, told Automotive News Europe.
