You are bidding on a 1973 Porsche 914 1.7 Liter Targa with Factory Air Conditioning and Manual Transmission.  Arguably the most desirable year of the 914 with still the Bosch D-Jetronic Fuel Injection System, side shift transmission as well as other improvements over the earlier years.  It is Ivory White exterior over Black interior.  This is an original car having probably all of the usual issues expected on a 914 of this vintage but can be enjoyed and driven as is.

The exterior of the car (predominantly paint), leaves much to be desired.  The recipient of a poor repaint many years ago as well as various shades of white touch up along the way, don't bode well for the initial impression.  There are many areas where the paint is either cracking or starting to bubble beneath.  The chrome and glass however is all in average to good condition.  The black Targa Top paint is also not great but the top itself is in very good condition.  The latches all work as expected and the headliner is in nice shape.  Overall panel fit is factory correct, but the driver side trunk hinge is missing a plastic roller guide and sits high when closed as a result (see photo).

The interior of the car (seats, cockpit, carpet, door panels and dash) are by far the most redeeming qualities of the car with all being in good to excellent condition (see photos).   The dash itself is essentially perfect with not one crack or split to be found.  The complete interior is not new but in a good used condition contributing to a nice overall interior patina.

Mechanically the car runs and drives fine as is.  Starts easily, idles well and drives as I would expect any 914 should.  Steering is great and the Clutch, Transmission and Brakes are all working exactly as they should.  The car is very original, so it still retains its factory VDO gauges as well as the original and also working Blaupunkt radio.  The dual exhaust is newer and provides for a more sporty exhaust note.

All 5 painted wheels are in average condition while riding on rather old 195/60/15 radial tires with decent tread.

Included as well are the factory tools with tool pouch, factory jack and a Porsche 914 workshop manual.

Please ask all questions prior to bidding and do not bid unless you intend to buy. Vehicle is being sold as is where is with no warranties either expressed or implied. A $500 non-refundable purchase deposit is due within 2 days of the close of the auction.

2014 Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 Cup step out early

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Though Porsche won't be feeding us the full 911 enchilada until tomorrow's Geneva-based festivities, we have managed to scare up some official images of the 2014 911 GT3, as well as the all-new 911 GT3 Cup. As Porsche is celebrating 50 years of the 911, we anticipate a good day for great cars.
The new GT3 looks every bit the proper successor to the racy 911 nameplate, with a fixed rear wing large enough to serve cocktails on, a curvaceous body kit and 20-inch wheels that offer a dominating on-road stance. It's a good bet that Porsche will have coaxed something like 450 horsepower from the naturally aspirated, 3.8-liter flat-six engine that hangs over the car's rear axle. A seven-speed manual and Porsche's own PDK transmission are the likely gearbox offerings.
Should the mental quickness and imposing wingery of the standard GT3 not be enough for you, future racecar driver, Porsche is also bringing a GT3 Cup car to Geneva. The German automaker has given just a few scant details about this Cup car - 460 hp on tap, a production run of just 2,400 units - including three images of the kitted out racer. Certainly more and finer details will emerge, when Porsche shines the spotlights on its new 911s tomorrow.

World's largest toy car collection is in Beirut, and it's remarkable

Fri, Jan 31 2014

It's common for auto enthusiasts to have a few miniatures of their favorite cars around their home or office. They provide a respite of happiness knowing that if you can't have the real things, at least you can look at them in miniature. However, Billy Karam of Beirut, Lebanon, has taken collecting toy cars to its extreme. His collection of over 30,000 model cars and 400 dioramas is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest collection of car toys. "You cannot buy the big ones, so you buy a thousand of the small ones instead," says Karam in the video. Karam is a former amateur racing driver with a weakness for all things Porsche, and many of his dioramas depict races that he drove in or attended. Looking at them gives him a chance to relive the experiences again, but unlike a photo or video, they are right there in three dimensions. Scroll down to watch this astounding Cool Hunting video narrated by the collection's captivating owner. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Watch a marksman go clay shooting from a Porsche 911

Tue, Dec 8 2015

A Porsche 911 is exciting. Firing a shotgun at clay pigeons is also exciting. And when you combine the two? An amazing video. This video features British master marksman Phillip Thorrold as he takes on a very different form of competitive shooting, because traditional sporting clays, trap, and skeet must be too boring. By mounting a clay pigeon trap to the hood of a Porsche 911 Targa, Thorrold has melded driving and shooting in a way that hasn't been seen since James May and Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear tried to rethink the biathlon. The Brit makes short work of the clays with his over-under shotgun. Even as he runs form spot to spot to intercept the Porsche, he has no trouble downing the discs as they're launched unpredictably from the speeding, sliding 911. He then hops in the passenger seat and proceeds to take out the tiny, orange clays while zipping down a country road. If that's not awesome enough, the clays have been fitted with exploding discs, for that extra bit of excitement. We've posted the entire three-minute video at the top of the page. Even if you aren't into competitive shooting, this is a spectacle you aren't going to want to miss. Please don't try this at home. Related Video:
