This 1968 Porsche 912 was found residing peacefully under a two story brick building in the SF Bay Area. It had one flat tire and a dead battery. Once these minor items were corrected this 912 attended the annual air cooled gathering in Concord California. It was a sweltering 90 degree day and the porsche chirped along admirably at a 65 mph clip. The shifting is lovely and the gear selection is effortless. The rear caliper heated up that day and the problem was determined to be an incorrectly installed emergency brake cable. This deficiently was resolved at Eason Motor Works were an oil change was performed in addition to a total brake bleed out. The car stops very well and the e-brake works as it should. Some minor work was done to the shifter and the 912 was then given a clean bill of health. At this time, it was also described by the lead mechanic as a "good little runner." In addition to these kudos, the 912 was also examined at the renowned Porsche Parts Hub, "Easy Porsche." Where it elicited such observations as, "Sweet," "honest," and "Nice." It was also determined at this time that the engine is a late '67 engine with '68 parts. This was described as "the best of both worlds." However the purists may disagree. The experts with which I conferred also deemed that the seats were from a '69 911, which was discouraging as the tracks will not hold the seats in place. This does not keep me from enjoying the car. Unfortunately an aftermarket stereo was installed with total disregard to maintaining the originality of the Porsche. The front door panels have been cut for speakers. The headliner has some imperfections that will need correction if you are after a perfect specimen. The dash cover has cracked and will need a redo. The body is a lovely site. I believe it has had one repaint in its original color. The driver's side door appears to have been replaced as i found some burgundy paint under the door panel. There is a dime sized door ding on the driver's side rear quarter. The rear bumper appears to sag a little and its missing it's gasket. The paint is not perfect and has some blemishes, scratches and dull spots. Don't let my criticism deter you from making your own decision. This car is spectacular in person and as I write this, has just completed a 100 miles jaunt in a wedding procession. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. The prices on this model are soaring. You may want to act quickly if this porsche experience is on your bucket list. Please check our feedback. Don't bid if your follow through is questionable. Shipping and pre-inspection is available.

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Porsche Cayman, Boxster caught in GTS trim
Sat, 18 Jan 2014A few months ago, we reported on some leaked information from an internal presentation for upcoming Porsche models. This included details about the Macan and the 911 Targa, which we now know to be true, but there was also talk about GTS versions of the Cayman and Boxster.
Well, it appears we're now getting our first look at these GTS models, as our spy photographers have just snapped a pair of Porsche prototypes out testing - one Cayman and one Boxster.
Right off the bat, we can see that both GTS-branded cars will get a slightly tweaked exterior with new fascias (bringing LED daytime running lights to the Cayman) and air diffusers at the rear. The true gem of these cars will be the added horsepower to the tune of 340 horsepower - a 15-hp bump. A manual transmission will likely be standard, as will Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
J.D. Power: Vehicle dependability at all-time high, Lexus and Porsche lead
Wed, 13 Feb 2013
Each year, J.D. Power and Associates surveys original owners of three-year-old vehicles to find out what kinds of problems they have had experienced over the last 12 months, and then it uses this data to create its annual Vehicle Dependability Study. This means that the models in the 2013 study are 2010 model year vehicles, and J.D. Power rates each make as well as the top individual models based on how many problems were experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100).
Debunking the idea that carryover models are more dependable than new or updated models, the 2013 study found that the average carryover model experienced 133 PP100, while all-new or redesigned vehicles for the 2010 model year had 116 PP100; vehicles that received minor changes fared the best with just 111 PP100. The overall average for all makes was 126 PP100, which is the lowest figure since the findings were first issued in 1989.
