1968 Porsche 912 Project Car.   This car has been sitting in a garage for 35 years. It came from my next door neighbor with a complete disassembled stock 1582 cc engine ( as of this writing I haven't been able to find the new jugs and pistons that were still in their boxes, but I'm still cleaning out the garage ). I purchased and installed another engine a 1756cc with an external oil cooler and filter, also installed were a new gas tank and gas line. This car was running good , till I paid a carburator man to clean and rebuild the carbs.  His job then re-located, he left me with the two re-build kits, one complete carburator and the other cleaned but disassembled. I put the other carbs from the disassembled engine on and had the car running briefly. Another problem is when the brakes are applied , they activate but do not release; possibly due to sitting so long and needing new brake lines. There is a small nick in the windshield that can be "buttered' out. Also there is a small dent in on the hood  and rear drivers side  quarter panel. There are a few paint chips on the body and rust under the body around the jack posts. One of the Euro style taillights has a crack but I have since purchased other lenses and housings ( not pictured ).  All electrical systems work except the gas sending unit. The interior of this car is SUPER CLEAN !! ,  except the crack on the drivers side seat. The headliner is ALL Intact....but has some yellowing spots. Both doors PING ! Included in this auction is the other disassembled engine, the heads look to be in good condition. . There is a new short shifter kit and a full Sachs clutch kit.,a new trunk carpet, engine sound barrier, new wipers , gasket sets, air cleaners, and struts for the bonnet and hood. Also, I have tossed in an Alpine stereo system: CD reciever, Three speakers and two amps ( this system came out of my old dodge truck <<<< NICE) . THIS IS PICKUP ONLY !!  I reserve the right to cancel this Auction at any time, Any Questions call 760 274 4496

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus

2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed statue unveiled

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

Each year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a single marque is celebrated with a large and ornate "Central Feature" sculpture, with recent automakers including Audi in 2009, Alfa Romeo in 2010, Jaguar in 2011 and Lotus last year. This year, Porsche gets the honor, and it is using the opportunity to commemorate 50 years of the 911.
The sculpture features three generations of the 911 towering over the Goodwood House. The most recent 991 911 has the lowest position, with an original 1963 car second highest and a 1973 2.7 RS at the top of the pile. Be sure to check out the sculpture for yourself in the gallery of images above.

Porsche says turbo'd 911 engines will still be revvy

Wed, Apr 15 2015

Porsche fans really, really don't like change. Remember when the 911 moved away from air-cooled engines? Now, as the company prepares to move the vast majority of the 911 line away from naturally aspirated powerplants, one of the brand's highest ranking officials is speaking out to prevent a similar outcry. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, the head of powertrain development for the Volkswagen Group and a board member of the VW brand, told Car that turbocharging won't take away from the rev-happy nature of Porsche's current engines. "Turbocharging is possible with higher revs – it's not true to say that turbocharged engines must stop at 6000rpm," Neusser told Car at the 2015 New York Auto Show. "That's not true... If you look at McLaren, they already have in production turbo engines with high revs." With turbocharged engines, Nuesser explains, there's no need to go for a super high redline, because engineers are trying to spread the torque over the entire rev range. "It makes no sense to go to 10,000 rpm with a turbocharged engine," Neusser told Car. The other big concern that comes with the switch to turbocharging focuses on the 911's iconic flat-six exhaust note. Maintaining the car's well-known acoustic character shouldn't be an issue, Neusser said. "Noise is not a problem," adding that the Volkswagen Group knows a thing or two about building sweet-sounding turbos. "Look at the 911 Turbo; it has an extremely expressive noise today – that is not a problem. At the other end of the scale, the Golf R has it too," Neusser told Car. "You won't miss character with turbos, I promise." According to Car, the new turbocharged engines will arrive later this year at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, as part of the current 911's facelift.
