Porsche: 911 Rs Tribute on 2040-cars
Slatersville, Rhode Island, United States
This is a very beautiful RS Tribute car, produced by the shop of the great Dick Barbour. It is based on a very nice, straight and rust-free 1971 Porsche 911-T. Obviously no expense spared to make it as nice as this!

Porsche 960 could come with quad-turbo flat-eight engine
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Getting a bead on the target that is the so-called Porsche 960 is not easy, as the target keeps moving. First labeled the 960, then the 961, and now back to being called the 960, it is Porsche's take on a supercar specifically aimed at Ferrari - the latest report in Automobile says that Porsche's internal moniker for it is "FeFi," which stands for "Ferrari Fighter." Because it is expected to cost as much as the top-tier V12 Ferrari, Porsche wants the engine solution to justify the price tag. That means, according to author Georg Kacher, a 3.9-liter, quad-turbo flat-eight engine with 650 horsepower.
Last summer, the engine was mooted to be a twin-turbo flat six. A few months later, the rumor was that it would use the 4.6-liter V8 from the 918 and have about 570 horsepower. This new mid-engine configuration would be quite the leap, giving the 960 more power than the 918 Spyder (pictured) and 911 GT2 RS, and utilize other tech features like four adjustable camshafts and "a complex multistage intake manifold." In this scenario, power would be run through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Build materials are still slated to be a hodgepodge of materials including aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, titanium and magnesium. The boosted flat-eight, all-wheel drive and a 3,000-pound weight could get the 960 from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Since it is looking squarely at Ferrari, the idea that the 960 will be a "four-door coupe" can probably be put to rest. For now.
Porsche caught testing sub-Panamera-sized sedan
Wed, Jun 1 2016Anyone remember the Porsche Pajun? It was supposed to be Porsche's long-rumored entry level sedan before it mostly dropped off the radar. Now, it might have blipped its way back onto our screens, thanks to a series of spy shots showing what on the surface looks like a Panamera. While our spies point to this being a coupe mule riding on a shortened version of the Panamera's platform, we're leaning towards a smaller sedan. Even with the rear windows obscured, the wheelbase and driver's seating position (which we'll admit is remarkably low and coupe-like) seem wrong for a two-door model, even a disguised one. The cutlines in the rear doors look too deep to be camouflage, and based on the look of those door handles, the rear doors are definitely real. As for what's not real, we wouldn't read too much into those rivet-like things at the front and rear. They're just there to secure the camouflage. We might not be on the same page as our spies about what this car actually is, but they make a strong argument for its eventual styling, which should be a mix of 911 and Panamera. There's a slim strip of taillight hiding beneath the rear camo – you'll need to zoom way in, but the white housings are there – that reminds us of the new 911. It should be more Panamera in the front fascia, aside from the headlights, which might be the only styling element that draws inspiration from the 718. Based on the state of this car, we're thinking it's still quite early in the Pajun's development process. Whether the development timeline lines up with this 2019 prediction remains to be seen. Video proof the Porsche 912 deserves a second look
Thu, Dec 17 2015The Porsche 912 suffered from a bad reputation for years as a lesser Porsche among the brand's ardent fans. Some people just didn't see the appeal of a coupe that shared the 911's lines but used a four-cylinder engine. The tide has started to turn recently as ballooning air-cooled 911 prices present these cars as an interesting alternative. The latest clip from Petrolicious also makes a great argument for the 912 by showing a Bahama Yellow example cruising along French roads. Like many of us, Antoine Gaslais had a tight budget and searched for years for his dream car. Things were more of a nightmare when he found his 1967 912, though. The coupe initially didn't run and then broke down once he thought it was fixed. A buddy eventually helped him get the Porsche back on the road. Gaslais knows his 912 isn't concours perfect, but that's not the point for him. Gaslais just likes to be able to cruise. Take a ride with him through some French hamlets in the latest from Petrolicious.
