The Toy Barn of Dublin Presents:
1985 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
The Toy Barn is thrilled to offer this absolutely beautiful 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, in stunning original condition, and ready for it's new owner! This Cab is simply gorgeous, and was a recent trade-in here at our store out of a local collection, towards a new 911. This is a fantastic example indeed, and a great opportunity for someone looking for a fully documented and meticulously kept, low-mileage Porsche. We have a full 3-ring binder with loaded with receipts, ownership history, maintenance records, and items of interest including an original 1985 911 brochure. I have not had a more comprehensive ensemble of history and information on a vintage Porsche like this.
Condition wise, this Cabriolet is absolutely beautiful. The White Gold finish was the official brochure color for the Cabriolet in 1985, and is very unique and seldom found. The paint is beautiful, with only light wear evident, no damage or major blemishes that take away from it's stunning appearance. The original Fuche wheels are in excellent condition as well, with only a little light abbrasions but no curb rash or damage. The tires still have ample tread remaining as well, and overall the exterior of this Porsche is fantastic. Inside, the brown leather interior looks excellent, as pictured below. There are no major blemishes or signs of wear, and overall this is one of the finest interiors I've seen on a droptop Porsche of this age. The top is in excellent condition as well, with only one small imperfection pictured below, and a crystal clear back window. Out on the road, the car runs, drives, and feels awesome. We just serviced it here at our Performance Center, and I'd be glad to provide any information to help answer questions for you.
This is a get-in-and-go Porsche, ready for the shows, the street, or the collection.
Though in stunning condition, this is of course a 25+ year old car, as I'm sure you understand. There are a few various imperfections upon close scrutiny, but overall it is absolutely gorgeous. It is being sold as-is. CALL ME FOR MORE DETAILS!!!

Along with the Ferrari Laferrari and McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the trio of hybrid supercars potentially defining the path for these rarified vehicles going forward. When thinking about high-performance machines like this, the mind usually goes to precise driving around a circuit or maybe along a beautifully undulating road... not so much in the snow. Still, this group has more than enough power to make it through a little bit of powder, and the 918 proves that at the Porsche Driving Experience winter camp in Finland. Although, the set of studded snow tires certainly helps. Even with the trick all-wheel drive system in the Porsche combining a mid-mounted V8 and electric motors, this 918 has absolutely no problem lighting up the rear end in the snow and ice. Even at relatively low speeds, just a blip of the throttle is all it takes for the back tires to step out. However, the handling still looks quite controllable. It's hard to grin as this rare supercar does the Scandinavian Flick to set up a perfect drift between the snow banks.

When Porsche unveiled the new Macan at the LA Auto Show, it announced two powerplants for the US market, both of them twin-turbo V6s: the Macan S equipped with 340 horsepower from its 3.0-liter engine, and the Macan Turbo with 400 horses from 3.6 liters. But those aren't the only engines Porsche will offer in its new compact crossover. Porsche is also offering the Macan S Diesel overseas with 258 hp, and reports have since indicated that a pair of four-cylinder models on their way: a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 hp and four-pot turbodiesel of the same capacity with an as-yet undisclosed output. Now Car and Driver is reporting that while those four-cylinder engines won't be making the transatlantic voyage to our shores, Porsche will offer the aforementioned Macan S Diesel in North America beginning in early 2015, nearly a year after the gas V6 versions arrive. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is based on the same engine found in the Cayenne Diesel and the Audi Q5 TDI on which the Macan is based. Of course, its 248 hp is substantially less than the 340 ponies in the Macan S, but its 413 pound-feet of torque outshines not only the 339 lb-ft in the Macan S but also the 406 lb-ft in the Macan Turbo. Acceleration times, however, suggest the Macan S Diesel is still slower, with a 6.3-second run to 62 mph than neither the Macan S (5.4 sec) or Macan Turbo (4.8). The good news is that the Macan S Diesel is tipped to undercut the price of both, dropping the oil-burning crossover's MSRP below that of the $49,900 starting price for the Macan S and the $49,600 for the base Cayenne. If that C/D prediction comes to pass, that will make it the Macan S Diesel most affordable Porsche sold.

Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
