2002 Porsche 911 on 2040-cars
Olney, Maryland, United States
LOOK NO FURTHER FOR AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of a 996 Turbo. The condition of this low mile car will be hard to match.
Pristine 2002 Porsche 996 Turbo with only 32,000 miles. Very original car with no accident history. The exterior of
the car is absolutely stunning. The Polar Silver paint shines bright and is in excellent condition. All 4 rims are
without curb rash and carry Michelin Pilots that are in excellent condition with a lot of tread.
The interior of the car is full leather and Metropol Blue. It is in pristine condition showing no wear. The white
instrument dials, aluminum package (with aluminum door sills) and the painted center console really make a
difference. It really gives the interior of these cars a boost (typically they're pretty bland). Everything works.
On order is a new ashtray insert.
Mechanically, the car is perfect and it runs absolutely amazing. The engine revs freely with tonnes of torque. The
gears change effortlessly and the clutch releases well. Servicing is all up to date. A very recent service is done
by GTek automotive. This includes a full inspection (GTeks phone number can be provided to serious buyers), an oil
change, a new tire (nail puncture) and an ECU performance upgrade providing 20-30 more hp (this also overrides the
check engine light from the sensitive catalytic converters).
I am a 15 year PCA member (and also an orthodontist - obsessed with detail) who has fastidiously maintained the car
for the last 3 years. Never winter driven. This is originally a US delivery car that can be shipped back to the US
with little issue.

Rough seas delay salvage operation for burning ship carrying luxury cars
Wed, Feb 23 2022LISBON — Rough waters forced authorities on Wednesday to postpone a salvage operation for a ship packed with luxury cars that have been on fire for a week in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, a port official said. With teams unable to board the Felicity Ace, heavy tug boats sprayed water to cool the vessel, which is carrying around 4,000 vehicles, including Porsches, Audis, Lamborghinis and Bentleys. Lamborghini of America CEO Andrea Baldi told Automotive News that there were dozens of pre-sold Lamborghinis aboard, mostly the Urus SUV. But also some Huracans and Aventadors, the latter of which have ceased production. The ship's 22 crew members were evacuated last Wednesday, the day the fire began. Some of the vehicles are electric, and their lithium-ion batteries have made the fire very difficult to extinguish, port officials have said. Joao Mendes Cabecas, the captain of the nearest port on the Azorean island of Faial, said the blaze had lost its intensity — probably because there was little left to burn. Salvage teams hoped to board the ship, which is is adrift around 170 km southwest of the Azores near Portugal, to assess its condition and start preparing it for towing, the Portuguese navy said in a statement on Tuesday. The navy took photos of the ship that showed a gaping hole at least four decks high, with burn marks running the length of the ship. It is unclear if the vessel will be towed to the Bahamas or Europe. Cabecas told Reuters bad weather prevented the team from boarding the ship. Waves as high as 2.5 meters battered the coast of Faial on Wednesday, Portugal's weather agency IPMA said. The salvage team was expected to be flown to the ship on a helicopter belonging to the Portuguese air force, which will decide on Thursday if the operation can proceed, Cabecas said. Ship manager Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd (MOL) said in a statement on Tuesday the vessel was still on fire but stable, and that no oil leak had been reported so far. It did not respond to a Reuters request for comment on the cause of the fire. Insurance experts said the incident could result in losses of $155 million.  Weird Car News Audi Bentley Lamborghini Porsche

Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.
