1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 911 G50 on 2040-cars
Newbern, Tennessee, United States
This car drives out beautifully. I have put about 1500 miles on the car after doing a major service on it (valve adjustment, oil
change, filters, spark plugs), and the car hasn't skipped a beat. Driving the car it is very smooth and tight on
the road. The power comes on smooth and strong without hesitation. Car starts up right away every time. Steering is
very tight and the 911 drives straight and firm. The G50 transmission lives up to its reputation and shifts
flawlessly up and down. Clutch feels great as well and the brakes feel like new. Inside the car, the interior is
still soft and full of life...the AC worked for awhile after it was charged but there seems to be a leak in the
system that is noticeable a week after charge. I can not find any rust on the car. This is an excellent original
car that is just a pleasure to drive. All this....rare colors combined with the well desired G50 transmission make
this late model Carrera a perfect fit for a collector or someone interested in a true classic 911. Details:
Mechanical: -Stock 3.2 which is known as one of Porsche's bulletproof engines. Engine is very strong and smooth. No
known smoke issues other than the typical 911 startup puff. Valves were just adjusted along with oil change, fuel
filter, spark plugs and general oil leaks addressed. Case is sealed up well. The engine has turbo valve covers and
cat bypass pipe as well. Exterior: -Rare color which comes off as a slight purple/blue. It is a metallic known as
Cassis Red from the factory. The paint shines up very well, does not appear to be any rust on the car externally or
underneath. Car is believed to have never been painted. There are some scrapes and scratches around the car that
appear to be parking lot related. Also the car has the typical rock chips on the front bumper and mirrors

Take a POV hot lap in the Porsche 918 Spyder
Mon, 14 Apr 2014That title about says it all. This is a hot lap of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX, with Porsche Works Driver Patrick Long at the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder. The camera is basically showing us everything that Long sees, making this not just one of the coolest 918 videos we've seen, but also one of the neatest laps of CoTA.
As Long peers through the bends, so will you. You'll see him fight the wheel, and find out just how difficult it is to hustle this hybrid hypercar around a world-class track at speed. It's pretty darn entertaining. There are also a few scattered shots of the 918's exterior just to break up the interior awesomeness, although we aren't exactly complaining about those. Take a look below for the short video from Porsche.
The 2014 Ruf RCT offers rear-drive action with 911 Turbo fun
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Ruf has 37 years of experience of turning Porsches into even higher performance machines. For the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, it's unveiling the RCT, or Ruf Carrera Turbo, which offers power to split the difference between Porsche's 911 Turbo and Turbo S models.
The RCT starts with a unique body kit with a new front air dam and drastically changed rear deck that combines both a small spoiler and air intake. Power is provided by a twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter flat-six with 525 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque paired to either a seven-speed manual or seven-speed dual clutch transmission. That gives the Ruf a 5-hp and 15-lb-ft advantage over Porsche's own Turbo but is still less powerful than the full Turbo S. The RCT sprints to 62 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 196 mph.
However, the Ruf's big advantage is that it offers buyers the choice of either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while Stuttgart's turbo models are only available spinning all four wheels. The RCT can also offers upgrades like an integrated roll cage and custom suspension packages, should the buyer be so inclined to splash out on racing kit.
KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners
Sat, 30 Mar 2013The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
