This is a very original 1986 911 Targa with 97k original miles. The car has two very small areas of bubbling (see pictures), the first area is near the top of the driver’s side door and the other area is at the base of the door jamb (inside), both are very minor. Also, you will note in the picturing that the front and rear dash boards have slightly pulled away from the base. There are no leaks and the garage floor that the car is parked on is clean. The car has been owned by the same person for the past 15 years and service records are available upon request from the service center that the car was maintained. The car runs and drives very well, no smoke before, during and after driving, the engine revs nicely, and the clutch feels new (owner states that clutch was replaced), the brakes are in good order, the gears seems to shift just fine. After a dusting the car (stored in her garage), the car overall is very presentable, the body is straight and sound, the Targa top is in good shape and comes on and off easily. The glass all around is great. The guards red paint is not original but still looks nice. Overall, this is a great air cooled 911 that’s reasonably price without a reserve and a clear title (no leans). I am the smallest car dealer in the country. I love air cooled Porsche cars and have owned and driven them for 32 years. I know where to look for rust bugs and seek out dry cars. Terms & Conditions Sorry I have to say this, but after being scammed by several phony buyers I would like to make it very clear you must be ready to buy in order to bid. This is a real auction selling to the high bidder. Due to non-paying bidders I adhere to a strict policy of 24 hours for deposits or your car will be sold to the next high bidder and a non-paying strike and negative feedback will be left. Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?
Wed, 18 Dec 2013Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.
A few pre-race notes and a lot of photos from the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sat, 14 Jun 2014The 82nd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is on.
Audi has won 12 of the last 15 events, the scion of Auto Union is trying to make it 13 this year. To do so, it will have to overcome a situation faced only three other times during its dominance of La Sarthe: underdog status. Toyota has won the first two races of the year and claimed pole for this race, the rumor being that this year it's Toyota's race to lose.
And then there's Porsche. It's been 16 years since the Stuttgart brand raced on the top rung at Le Mans, three years years since it announced its return, just a year since it acquired Mark Webber in a signing that wasn't subtle and a few months since we got eyes on the 919 Hybrid.
Porsche celebrates 50 years of 911 with some excellent pics
Tue, 12 Feb 2013The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, and to celebrate the car's first 50 years, Porsche has released a stunning set of photos showing how far the 911 has come from the original back in 1963 to its current 991 generation. Unlike the recent 60-year photo spread that Chevrolet put together for the Corvette, though, Porsche's gallery only shows the original 911 and the current car.
Each time the 911 is redesigned, the car's front fenders, roofline and the shape of the side windows are key focal points. Even some of the interior cues have remained the same over the years, including the positioning of the ignition key on the left of the steering column and the five-gauge instrument cluster layout.
Scroll down for Porsche's press release breaking down the seven generations of the 911, and be sure to check out our gallery with plenty of high-res pics for you to download as a desktop wallpaper. In fact, we're providing these at 1920-pixels-wide instead of our usual 1280 wide. Enjoy!
