Im selling my 1957 Porsche Speedster California Replica convertible.  Street Beast Kit Built in 2004.
1973 VW Chassis with independent rear suspension and a 1600CC engine with dual Solex Carbs.  Car also has 4 wheel disc brakes.

Fiberglass body and no rust. Bought the car originally in Kansas. 2666 miles on the non original speedometer. White convertible top and the side windows are included.

New Stuff:
New Tires and Smoothie style rims with less than 200 miles on them.
New plugs, wires, coil, condenser and points. Replaced the fuel pump and exhaust system.
The shocks are in great shape and the fluids have been replaced all around. The engine starts up good and could probably use a good carb cleaning. I have the kit and will include it in the sale.
Blemishes:
Small scuff on the front tip that could probably be buffed out by a trained person (see pictures)
Center convertible top clamp is a little bent but still works.
Like any kit car the doors could be adjusted a little.  After you open it a few times you will be a pro.
A few scratches here or there but overall very good condition for the body being almost 10 years old.
Speedometer is off by about 20mph. I have seen this before on some replicas.

The driver seat was moved back farther than the other seat.  It is a nice feature for taller guys and it is still adjustable.
Car loves to rev up and go.  Can cruise at highway speeds no problem.
Titled as a 2004 VW Beetle but you can have your DMV title it as a 1973 Beetle for collector plates.
Car has CD player and door speakers.

** added side mirrors recently and removed the top for some of the pictures.  you can just remove some snaps and 2 bolts and the top comes right off.

Feel free to email me at timgeisler@hotmail.com if you have any questions.
This car gets more attention than $100k cars at car shows!
Im selling because im saving money for a wedding.  We both love to drive the car!
Fun little car and always gets a few waves while you drive. Perfect for summer, good luck bidding!

Leno steals Porsche 918 from The Quail for latest Garage episode

Sat, 31 Aug 2013

Just because he's a famous celebrity doesn't mean Jay Leno got to take it easy at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance earlier this month. Having already spent some time with the gorgeous Cadillac Elmiraj Concept and Ed Welburn for a recent episode of Jay Leno's Garage, the late night talk show host also got to put a few miles on a prototype version of the Porsche 918 Spyder.
Like a usual episode of JLG, Leno first goes over the details of the car with Frank Walliser, head of the 918 Spyder's development, before taking it out for spin. Check out the full episode, which is posted below, to hear what Walliser has to say about the car. More importantly, though, crank up your computer's volume and let the car's high-revving engine and amazing exhaust note do plenty of talking for itself.

Porsche considering turbo for new GT3 RS [w/poll]

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Some automakers make one hardcore version of a sports car and are done with it. Or at least they make one at a time. Think Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (or Super Trofeo Stradale or Squadra Corse) or Maserati GranTurismo MC. But not Porsche. It transforms the 911 into the hard-core GT3, the even harder-core GT3 RS, the you've-got-to-be-psychotic GT2 and the do-you-have-a-death-wish GT2 RS. The RS models take things to a further extreme, but what separates GT3 from GT2 models has traditionally been the use of foced induction: GT3s are naturally aspirated, while GT2s go turbo. But that could all be about to change.
According to the rumors making their round of the webosphere, Porsche is considering using a turbocharged engine for the next GT3 RS. The reason is that, as we all know, Porsche has already pushed the 3.8-liter flat-six in the existing GT3 about as far as it can go, and then some. And buyers expect not only a more bare-bones package with the GT3 RS, but also a bit of extra power.
Given that everything seems to be going turbo these days, the move might make some measure of sense, especially if Porsche wants to avoid with the GT3 RS the spontaneous combustion issues it faced with the GT3. But we can't help but wonder why, at that point, it wouldn't just skip the GT3 RS and go straight for the GT2.

Porsche reveals new LMP1 racecar testing ahead of 2014 Le Mans debut

Wed, 12 Jun 2013

Getting ready for its triumphant return to the premier racing class of Le Mans, Porsche has released a handful of images showing its new LMP1 racecar testing. Porsche hasn't run a car in the Prototype class at 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2009, but this racecar - still veiled in secrecy - will be expected to battle against the Audi and Toyota LMP1 Prototypes to help bring Porsche its 17th Le Mans victory.
Aside from knowing that it will use a hybrid powertrain to meet LMP1 rules, there are no other details about the car... including its name or potential sponsors. In the meantime, Porsche has set up a microsite, called Mission 2014, to share its extensive history racing at Le Mans. Also, be sure to check out some of the past videos Porsche has released as it gears up for its reborn LMP1 program.
